New "hunter bow" scam?

Featured Replies

Well I just saw this topic in the ROF weapons board: Quick find code: 38-39-593-45482720

It's some guy selling 3 "hunter bows" for 8.5mill each.

People are actually offering over 8mill and all for these thinking that they are dark bows. So I was wodnering, are hunter bows tradeable? Or is he really just selling dark bows and made a mistake when putting "hunter bows" as his title, it's funny though because he secifically put "hunter bows" which makes it look suspicious to me.

If they are indeed tradeable and people are getting scammed right now, do you think jagex will fix thisto make those hunter bows untradeable? It sure would be a lot better for some poor guys, especially since it's only been released just today so many people don't know what it supposed to look like, or even what its named ingame.

What do you think? Do you think it should be made untradeable, or would you rather quikly grab a few "hunter bows" and go sell them for 5mill+ each ? Not trying to give ideas to bad people but hey, I seriously stopped caring about people getting scammed in such stupid ways a while ago, I can't log in now so if someone would check if this bow is indeed tradeable for me and post it here I'd be grateful :)

Yep, its tradable, watch out for the scam, even though most know how it looks.

I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete.
So, what is 1.111... equal to?

10/9.

Please don't continue.

There is no weapon called "hunter bow". These are probably just honest players selling dark bows, but calling them hunter bows.

EDIT: Turns out that there is a hunter cbow.

I have found and reported the post.

Sig by me....

It is pathetic what people will do to earn a quick buck

But realistically, if someone were to fall for this, it is really his/her own fault. If you are spending any significant amount of money, I sure hope you at least look into the product a slight bit. If someone is willing to spend 8 mill on a new bow, and they don't even take the time to glance over the new post and link to a picture of the bow on the homepage, then it is really their own fault.

I have never fallen for a scam in my years of RS, all it takes is simply knowing what you are buying before hand and taking your time. The game is meant to be played for fun, there is no reason to rush through trades or not gain some type of knowledge as to what you are buying.

On the other hand, I despise the people that come up with scams like this. It is in no way the intended nature of the game and it only ruins it for others.

someone lower said "whats the bow called?"

and then he answered: "dark bow"

So yeah... watch out for people trying this.

ohw and, it is incredibly stupid to fall for a scam like this, but hey, in RS there are people who run into the wildy thinking they can sell their santa hat for 30mill...

While I think it is wrong to use stuff like this to try to scam people, I really don't want it made untradeable. I was a bit annoyed when the leaf spear was made untradeable, just because I like having that option if I ever need it. It's a shame that the scum and the naive (mostly the scum) in this game have to mess up stuff like that.

Look, if your mom still drops you off at school, you ain't gangsta, pull up your damn pants!

3 down, 7 to go

How that heck do you get scam with Hunter Bow? Retarted. (Strong word but needed)

Can't they read? I expect someone with over a mil to know the price of a Hunter Bow. (Unless they buy gold)

Honestly, the name of the bow is RIGHT ON THE FRONT PAGE.

But like someone said earlier, there is people who want to sell rares for lots of money in the wilderness.

Gratz to the guy who can get people to fall for that. He deserves the money then.

I don't understand why people believe that scamming is right if your victim is stupid. Isn't that like throwing someone handicapped off his wheelchair and watch him crawl?

All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it

If the scam is that obvious and people still fall for it, gratz, you earned the money.

soulthresher.png
Haha, +1. [/uselesspost]

Your not cool.

Back on topic, kinda sad to see people already scamming, but I guess if they really should read up on what they're buying before they go running blindly into the forums to buy the new toy everyone is talking about.

you gotta be a total idiot to fall for how jagex stated it was a dark bow: not a hunter bow. also, they even had pictures of it. however, that does not excuse the scam itself.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

They probably assumed people would think:

Ooh, big hunter update today! Also there is a new awesome bow worth 8mil!

Ooh, 5mil? Thats cheap! I'll buy it!

*buys*

*tries to use with dragon arrows*

Waaaaaaaaaaaa! :(

Seems sad, but someone will probably fall for it, and it sucks.

can we get an update like the leaf blade spear maybe? making it un-tradable

case in point: anyone who confuses a crossbow for a bow deserves to be scammed and is therefore, a buffoon

agreed, if your going to purchase something at that great of value without even knowing what it looks like your an idiot and deserve to be scammed

clansig7.gif

If you're going to make the hunter bow untradeable then do the same with all types of bow, the reason the leaf bladed spear got changed was it looked very similar to a guthans spear, these don't. If you fall for that then you will get no sympathy from me, I don't however condone the scam.

Stop asking for the hunter crossbow to be untradeable. They look nothing alike, and if you fall of this then you are an idiot. How about I go on RSOF and say selling mage bow 5m? Will you want that to be untradeable, too?

hatewn1.png

lol yeah! in runescape you gotta be the best and only the best suceed, noobs however don't lol so they they scammed! :P they deserve it  spamming, begging and looting nubs!

I rekon it would be cool if the dark bow was untradeable and the only way to get it was to get the slayer level to get it... this would make them so much more special and prevent noobs from even touching it. But yeah its still cool that they are tradeable, makes the game a whole lot more interesting! :)

You think everything reads the front page? The number of times I've seen "where u get dat itum" I reply with "From the new quest" only to see "wat new quest"...
