Doesn't the ipod have the users name stored in a details section?

Hand it in, you'll feel great if you get to know the guy gets it back, and you'll feel much better than if you kept an effectively stolen iPod.

To all you saying you'd keep it, shame on you.

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

Asking if it was someones is a bad thing -.- It makes beggars (Like me) come up to you and say it's theres. I'd totally keep it

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Yeah i agree with who ever said it's too personnal to keep. I'd keep anything but an mp3 player and a cellphone. Too much of someones life is contained in those two devises.

Who cares?
The person who lost it. :|

Once again if you lost it I'm 95% sure that person would most likely keep it. Therefore, what goes around comes around. And I would most likely keep it.

Also a good lesson to pay more attention to your valuables. Sure it's harsh but eh, life still goes on.

Its people like you who make society look like its going downhill fast. There's no justification in his or your actions, its plain stealing, no matter how much people try to dilute the situation by saying they lost it - finders keepers etc.

Hand it back, end of story. It'll erase any guilty feelings you may have, and you'll probably get to keep it in the end. It is similar, or though not quite to the same degree, but when i was on the bus last week, i was sitting up the back, and the lady next to me stood up to get off. As she was waiting at the doors, i saw a ten dollar note where she was sitting, and i had a mini moral dilemma in my head, and then ran down the bus and handed it to her, but she smiled and thanked me, and said i could keep it. So i was happy i had done the good thing, and i scored 10 bucks out of it. Made my hot chippies all the better tasting. The end.

EDIT:

he can only hand it back if he knows whos Ipod it is!! I wouldnt give it to mall security, they will just keep it themselves if no one claims it for a week or so.

You found it, you didnt steal it so dont feel guilty about keeping it - I would do this. Ring up the mall and say that you found an Ipod at the mall has anyone been asking for one that has been lost. Do not go in there personally, and if they have someone get there number and make sure its the correct person then arrange to meet them and give it to them.

This way you have tried your best to find the owner, and if no owner has come forward its yours to enjoy. And if the owner gets it back they may give you a reward too.

I was originally thinking of this, it's probably the best way to go, although i would show up to the mall security, but without the ipod, and ask if there had been any inquiries.

Hahaha Eels i was going to congratulate on becoming an admin, until i checked if it was mod or admin, and i read it, nice one

What do you think the saying "Finders Keepers" refers to. If they lost it and you found it then just keep it.

Finders keepers is the kind of crap that 3rd graders spew out whenever they find something.

I hate that since everyone's watched "My Name is Earl" everyone is now an expert on karma. Newsflash: That isn't karma. It's anything but, that makes the comedy. Do you think they'd have a stereotype southern hick (no offence, but that's what the characters are, for comedic value) would have a sound knowledge of karma?

I am gonna report it to lost and found today at the mall, maybe they have a policy if nobody claims it I can keep it or something.

Hold a 100 dollar ipod in frond if teens desperate for a job. see how many people claim it. Point? don't count on finding the right owner <.<

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

It's quality on saturday morning around here. We used to go the bluebell woods over the back in the morning because if you get there before the chavs from last night realise they've lost a load of stuff, as they all go up there to get plastered on the friday, there's always money/phones etc on the floor. Drunken louts :D

I've never watched my name is earl.... ever.... I just used my collective knowledge on karma...

I hate assumptions...

Go to settings on the iPod and About, check the name of the iPod, maybe it has their full name? Btw, sry if this was mentioned I didn't read it all.

Quit Runescape... Dec 2001 - Jan 2008 on and off... mostly off.

I'd only return it if someone had reported the loss to the mall. I would NEVER turn it in, someone who doesn't own it will claim it for themselves, and that's just not fair. It's the responsibility of the person who lost it to report it as missing, then you can ask if someone reported a missing iPod. If they ask if you found it before telling you yes or no just weasel your way out of it, so you don't have to turn it in if there was no report.

Then sell it on ebay, that's what I'd do. But first I'd get all the songs off it and upload them to my computer.

Me doing staff.

Not true. I lost my virginity to the log out button #-o
You should have knocked him out and thrown him out the window (I actually did that at school).

You've never been dumpster diving?

It wasn't an assumption, it was a generalisation. I wasn't being specific, don't get on the big defensive...Earl lover.

I only felt like getting on the big defensive because it seemed like you were getting on the big offensive [against me], I guess you werent.

But in all seriousness, I dont watch that show, I saw one episode when they thought the world was ending or something and I thought it was incredibly stupid.

Why doesnt everyone stop pretending to be the saints they arent? I know i would keep it. Hell, I wouldn't think twice about keeping it. As some of you already said, yes, it is karma. Maybe the person who lost it was a terrible person and didnt deserve to have it. Maybe a kid stole it and then lost it. Maybe a kid worked about 20 hours of his life to earn that and mis placed it. Who knows? We will never know. That is why it isn't my problem if someone loses something. Firstly, it will never make or break someones life. Its an iPod. A pleasure. A bonus in life. Its not like you found someones life savings under the table. I guess what I am getting at is why bother to try and do the right thing? Sure the person will be grateful for it being returned, if he does seem to have faith in people and think that someone would report it. But wouldnt it be more important to have that person taught a lesson? Dont leave your sh!t lying around? Life is about personal experiences and how you can go about life with them. Keep the iPod.

Your excuses are pathetic for someone trying to make stealing sound like its doing someone a favour. I hope you get that back in return. And lots of it. In fact if your old enough to drive, and you leave your car in a carpark (left alone) I hope someone comes and steals it off you. Something valuable, would make my day. <.<

And its not me trying to act like a saint, its me doing the right thing. If everyone acted as selfishly as you, then there would be a lot of in this world.

I wouldn't mind finding an iPod. I would report it, of course.

My friend once reached into a tire swing and found a cell phone.

report to mall security, they should probably let you keep it if no one claims it after a certain amount of time.

Maybe he will take it and keep it for himself

I suppose you should of given it in to check if someone had left it.

But as you found it i suppose you could keep it.
