KBD was the only NPC cabable of dropping a Dragon Med, and the KBD could be easely 2 manned. One person was simply blocking the KBD from running to the other person.

i paid 500 'new runes' (nats, laws, chaos, cosmic) for a adam kite! then got killed within 20minutes, so i did it again

When you had to smelt/smith bronze items using 5 inventory spaces because between everything else you considered valuable, and the lack of a bank for items, those bones, pink skirts, iron daggers, and that sapphire were precious...
