DarkDude
2 November 2003 - RS2 is still on schedule Next I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that we're still on schedule to release the RS-2 beta on the 1st-Dec. I've been getting into work early, and working a few weekends, and I've managed to make up the time it took to do the Halloween event, so 1st-dec is still on. Doesn't look like there was a news post about the poll itself, but that confirms what i said :P

Made0f12une
You know your old-school when you can sit down, think for a moment, and say "I've been playing this game for 6 Years now", in good honest truth. Personally though, I think having a Scythe makes me old-school. frogact
I have found that usually when one has to tell the world they are something, they probably aren't that thing at all. Anyway, fishing for raw lobsters to buy party hats with when they were selling for 5k ea. I think that's old school, or maybe just old. 8-) jfroggy

polybren
How about when Jagex had it's last actual holiday "drop." The Scythe was originally dropped on Halloween 2003 during optimum times for UK based players. Unfortuantely, when it was dropped the majority of North American based players weren't on and missed out. This led to a huge number of complaints and instead of Jagex saying "tough luck, you knew when we were dropping them so you should have been on" they relented and dropped the Scythes again a few days later. Of course this ultimately led to no drops at all for the next few holidays (they were tired of people complaining) and finally resulted in the way they simply hand out holiday items now. So pat yourself on the back and call yourself old school if you actually got a Scythe on Halloween. :D

Well I have a level 5 with a scythe! And to the post above TKS is a women and to me trying to beat LKJ was my only reason to train combat so feverishly! RuneScape HD in 2560x1024!I know the answer and, because I cannot convey screaming feverishly on forums without looking odd or getting banned, just imagine it as such. Robot919
You know you're old school when you remember the time when santa hats were 200k. Those were the days.... I remember someone saying "Selling Santa, 200k!!!!!!!!!!" I was thinking to myself, "Wow, 200k??? That's impossible! I will never make 200k!!!!" Back then, moneymaking was 10 times harder then now. Runecrafting hadn't even come out yet. But, now, yea, 200k isn't that hard to make. You know you're old school when you remember that there was no use for a high agility level. You couldn't run or anything. The only point was shortcuts, but even then, it wasn't worth it. You know you're old school when the number 1 ranked player had around 1400 overall. Yup it's true. I forgot his username, it had Jagex in it or something, but he had around 1400 overall. I didn't really look at the highscores much back then. You know you're old school when seeing a level 100 was RARE. Back then, seeing a level 100 was rare. There was no Pest Control, no Gilded Altars for prayer, no Summoning. Leveling combat was at least 50 times harder then it is now. I remember when I saw the prayer highscores for the first time, only around 15 people had 99 prayer! Nowadays, there's over 4,000 people with 99 prayer!

The Runar
-You yell "Buying full rune 200k" for hours in Varrock -You ask a noob to give you 20k for a spinach roll -You buy a plate from Diango and try to spin it until it breaks -You try to sell a dragon med helm for two full rune sets -You search every single general store for a sleeping bag -When you see black area at the edge of the map, you quickly get away thinking it's the black hole. Then you buy a disk of returning and try to enter that black area -You chop willow logs for cash -You try to find a "page 2" button in the bank when it's full -You see someone with full mithril and think "OMG he/she is rich!" and ask him/her for cash  The Runar's (OSRS) DIY blog - most viewed Blogscape blog ever! frogact
lol I thought of another one. Uncerting fish in draynor, chop a tree, light fire, cook fish, recert, over and over and over again. Everyone new who the skill buyers were. lol. I had this one friend who had apparently looked up to me until the day he happened up to me in Draynor and discovered that I was buying cooking levels. He said "OMG< FRoggy! buying levels!!." then walked off and I never saw or heard from him again. Yes, I buy skills. LOL. that was sometime in 02 or 03 and I'm still not 99 cooking. :P jfroggy

Iglw
- You could only withdraw your items in unconventional increments. - A full bank meant you needed to withdraw and deposit items so they actually appeared on the screen. (argh!) - People showing off their gold near the 'certers. - The dark hole. - Click click click, powerfishing/mining and complaining about the new hard/soft mining rocks. - Trying to find the nearest bed to ward off your fatigue. - All the bubbles on people's head showing what they are doing. (< miss them) - You know what "@" was used for. - The glitch in the wall of Varrock sewers near moss giants. - Not picking up the holiday drops because you didn't think of the long-term benefits of having one. #-o Edit: To answer the question properly, "When you remember the above" ;)

eyehawk78
You remember Zonghui being top of the overall hi-scores, and Piranha being top of mining. That's my earliest memory of Runescape anyway.
