Purely Arrogance?

Making a pure account doesn't make you an ignorant person; being an ignorant person often leads to making a pure account.

Ignorant people who are too ignorant to understand the value of non-combat skills, or can't be bothered to train them often make pure accounts...

The problem is that many of these ignorant people are often ignorant in other areas such as language, race and just generally don't care about being offensive and narrow-minded.

Then there's ppl who wanna go PK but don't have a very good main account and find it more fun to go PK with a friend on a pure account. So they make a pure and go to the wildy and get mocked by the majority of ignorant pures. Some of these ppl retaliate against the ignorant pures, and become equally offensive.

Some of them ignore the ignorant ones and stay nice \' .

Well thats what i think anyway. O:)

Yeah...Some people just go out of their way to ruin other peoples fun.

I think it's after creating a pure account which could make them ignorant or change their behaviour in the game. I mean, when you've got a new account you've got loads to do which would make the person very busy gaming. And busy people don't like talking too much, and won't respond fully to what you say or pay as much attention.

I'm starting to get annoyed with the amount of pure bashing being done on this topic. There is no such reason to insult a pure stating that all pures act like A-holes. Odds are, they act the exact same way on their main account. It has nothing to do with the person's defense level, but the person.

How could making a pure make somebody ignorant? The person would have to be ignorant in the first place, you can't just become ignorant...

[GRAMMAR NAZI]

Ignorance is a state of lacking knowledge

Ignorance is NOT behaviour.

[/GRAMMAR NAZI]

Finally someone corrects them yet it seems to have gotten ignored.

Definition of ignorant on thefreedictionary.com:

1. Lacking education or knowledge.

2. Showing or arising from a lack of education or knowledge: an ignorant mistake.

3. Unaware or uninformed.

Yeah I fail to see how someone with a bad attitude is "ignorant".

As the person above me said, I am really tired of seeing the word 'ignorant' in every post, used in the wrong context every time. The stereotypical attitude of a pure is arrogance, not ignorance. To say that they are ignorant is ignorance in itself.

I have a couple of real life friends that have pure accounts. I swear, evertime they log on to their pure account, they become mean spirited, arrogant people.

I think a lot of people see a pure account, or any account that is not their MAIN account as a throw-away type account. They can be as rude as they want and their mains won't be banned for it.

I'm not saying all pures act this way, obviously.

Interesting, maybe that could be the reason why.

I would say it depends on the person.

I've always been a rather short-tempered yet usually nice person, polite as long as the other person/people were.

I've not seen many "combat" pures be polite, hence I don't really hold the general aspect in high regard. I know a few that are fine, yes, but for the moment I consider them to the aberration in combat pures, not the other way around.

I agree with you. It is different from person to person.

I didn't say all pures, I just set alot of them seem to be rude and arrogant, saying such things as "C0m3 2 wildy n00b 1 pk u!"

It annoys me when such things happen, and I don't know where you go the idea that I said all pures are idiots. Yes, some of the time it is the person, but sometimes it is not.

It's still unfair to link this to pures, or even say a lot of them.

Such arrogant behaviour occurs equally across pures, pkers, skillers, noobs and general players. And none of them are a case of "alot" doing it. It's a case of some do it, but they get noticed as nice players don't get noticed.

For example playing pyramid plunder a random guy just goes to me "don't open the coffins!!!"

I said I need to I am trying for the sceptre

His reply was "you noob! Don't open them! Your killing me you noob" plus a pm from his mate saying "please stop spawning mummies to kill my friend or I'll own you"

I'd call that pretty arrogant on his part.

In a case like this if he'd of said nicely I'm lower level the mummies will attack me so can you please not?

I'd of probably stopped

Like 99% of people before me it depends on the person themselves. But, as one gets more and more progressed and/or addicted to the game, focusing on leveling etc takes priority over conversations. That could be a reason.

Total garbage.

My current account is nearly 4 years old and I am ALWAYS focussed on leveling, but I still talk to anyone and everyone while training.

It's more fun that way.

I personally find it's that low levels asking loads of questions make high levels go quiet. But in a pure high level situation or a situation were its not constant spam of questions 99% are talkative

Bit of a play on words for the title there.

Do you think being pure makes you ignorant? In some cases I think that it does, but in other no. I have two RS friends that had normal accounts then decided to go pure. The first one decided to have a mage and range pure, now on his old account we used to talk a lot, but since he got his pure account he just doesn't seem to care.

The second friend decided to go skiller pure from his other account, now we still talk as much as we used to on his other account.

So, is it because he is pure mage/range or just because he has turned ignorant, I'm not sure because I know a lot of pures that are really quite nice, and alot that are not.

Views please?

I think your first friend was pking at most of the times you were talking to him, hence he didnt reply.

But your skiller friend has time to reply because hes probably skilling and has lots of time to talk since skilling isnt fast paced.

Correlation <> Causation.

Just because the one guy decided to become a pure and stopped talking to you at the same time doesn't mean that him becoming a pure had anything to do with the lack of conversation, in the same way that the fact that global temperatures have risen while the number of pirates have decreased doesn't mean that a lack of pirates causes global warming. 'Nuff said.

You know, that would be a really good excuse for being a pirate.

Most pures are miniclip kids. They can't be bothered to make the money themselves so they turn to the wildy, (not saying everyone who does pk can't be bothered) and they google cheats for how to become a P00Ning L33t killing machine. Half of them get keylogged, but all of them find out the, if not best, then most popular method is to become a pure. So, most pures are immature, but not because of being a pure.

I'm usually not the person to stereotype pures, but here's a story about a pure clan :P

One of my friends, he was an extremely nice guy, decided to train to be a range tank, and joined a pure pking clan.

Within a week he was acting like an arrogant jerk.

10 days later he sold his account.

Pures (for pking, of course) are there to compete with other players. You can't compete if you think you will lose - that is deliberate suicide. In order for pkers to pk, they need to think and feel that they will win.

Imagine a boxer. If he goes to the ring thinking he is weaker then he is bound to lose. If he thinks he can/will win then he at least has a chance.

It's the same with pking, you have to have the winning attitude. Either you think your char hits harder, has better equipment or you think your tactics are better than other people's. \'

Of course pkers are arrogant. They wouldn't pk if they didn't think they were better than people their own level.

Thats just like sterotyping, no matter how much the percent of the group, its most likely it isn't going to be everyone(most of the time not majority). Thats like when people start talking about how evil arabs are and then I'm like, hey buddy, shut your mouth I'm Lebanese!

Anyway, you really can't clump everyone together, I'm sure there are nice pures out there, you just generally tend to remember the bad over the good, there is more chance of you telling your friends of an instance this person was trash talking rather then saying a situation were someone had a pleasant conversation with you.

Pures have ego problems. That's it.

Who makes pures? People who like to 'own' others. Who likes to 'own' others? People with ego problems.

I'm currently training a range/2h pure. Does this mean I'm becoming an arrogant, mean person? I hope not. People don't become arrogant just because they make a pure. To all those people who say pures are arrogant- they're probably just as bad on their mains.
