gda_scooby
What motivates you to skill in RS - for me, consistently, its BANK SPACE! No matter how many lines they add, i never seem to have enough, and I am always chasing ways to get more space while skilling, for instance:- I tried to get rid of all my herbs i had from miscallania, so was continually trying to id them all and make them all into potions, then sell them. So recently i was left with 500 lants, to make anti fire pots. So i needed blue dragon scales, but only had lvl 61 agility. This meant i had to walk all the way around the dungeon to collect them. SO i decided to get agility to lvl 70. So i did as many quests as possible to get agility bonus (including mounrings end 1 + 2, QP now 222). I then sat at wilderness for a week getting from low 60s to lvl 70. By this time, miscellania had accrued 4 weeks of herbs, or over 2000 of the things. Then i thought if i could raise my construction a bit, i could get rid of more clothes/armour etc in the costume room. Then i found the ballooning quest was great for logs to planks, so did that. Then i needed to get 75 firemaking to unlock the route, so burned like 15000 maples (also from miscelania) All my other skills are similarly driven, trying to get rid of raw materials and trying to make room for quest materials. Farming is so frustrating as even after i drop all the dross, i still have like 3 full rows of seeds. Are anyone else driven the same way? hohto
Being able to organise your bank and remove unneeded items is also a skill. Personally I got still a lot of junk, but still many lines space left. The point is to combine potions as much as possible, make your 2nds into potions if you got few left, farm the small amounts of seeds before bigger amounts and just throw away items you seriously don't need. Not every quest item for example is worth keeping. Also the closet room in your POH is more than helpful. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
enduser99
Nice post Scooby. I have certainly been in your shoes where one need from one skill drives another skill to get to a level. Most of my motivation comes from my Friends List in Hi-Scores. I love chasing those ahead of me in my list and moving up 'notches'. (And I try to do that without removing those high-leveled friends...lol.)

BTBdrum812
Good topic. I don't know really. I guess what motivates me the most is achieving something new. Theres those things that come new with each higher level in each skill that I always look forward too. I guess the biggest motivation of skilling to me is envy. I see someone that has something I want or can do something I want to do, etc., and it makes me go for it. Another one is people putting me down, the classic "HA UR A N00BB" from higher levels always makes me want to pass them in everything and shove it down their throat... is that bad of me? Like omgz teh castle warz got p00n3d.
Honoured
What motivates me to skill, is to achieve each of the Non-Combat Achievement Capes. Of course, that's mainly everyones reason. Though, because I'm naturally a Skiller, I just have a passion for leveling high Non-Combat skills and this motivates me to do well, and rise high up into the Hiscores. But techincally, everyone would have a motive to skill in RuneScape, or they wouldn't play. After all, each skill is an actual skill whether it be Combat or Non-Combat based! - Honoured :. imaerehw14
To be totally honest, only 2 things. Money and my clan. I like GP. I like the feeling of having a lot of it. That might make me shallow. Oh well. I like my clan a lot. We have an anual GP fund raiser for the clan. I wanted to run dscales, but i was 250k xp off agility. I hadn't trained agility in over a year... so over the past 2 days, i got like 6 levels. im at 67, which means i can pot to 70 to make money to donate

crazyboypete
I enjoy skilling purely because it's more fun and interesting that combat. Also, the higher skilled levels you get, the better rewards. Oh and also gotta keep up with school friends / friends online .

Soma2035
Errr... cause it's fun? At least, it is if you don't just trap yourself using the most efficient method to train a skill. It's way more fun to hunt chompies, then slaughter bears + rabbits to make a few pies than buy 10k raw lobsters and sit in the Rogue's Den for a few hours. : Want to learn to Nex? iwatake
I tend to keep pushing on skilling by finishing off levels that are the closest to leveling. And constantly pushing all my levels past a certain point. For example, now I am trying to get all stats to level 70 and above :

Artemis495
I will usually train a skill to achieve another, related goal, and I prefer training many skills at once over one skill at a time. For example, when I wanted 68 Smithing to put Mith armor in my Skill, hall, I trained not only smithing but also mining (for the ores), magic (superheating steel bars and high alching steel plates) and runecrafting (for the nats). Currently I'm training Farming primarily to clear the seeds out of my banks but also to grow herbs and seconds for herblore, and I'm saving any leftover produce for Cooking. horseathlete
To be honest, there's really only one skill that I even desire to train: Woodcutting. I've been doing it for months, and I simply LOVE it! :D As for training it, I don't really have much motivation other than to see what I'm capable of, and to do something I sincerely enjoy doing. I only cut Magic logs, since level 75 (I'm level 99 now), and while woodcutting, I always use the Official Forums. These help to pass the time, and in a sense, encourages me to continue cutting. I don't do it for the skill cape, for the experience, or for the "fame"--I do it because I love it. :P Woodcutting FTW!
Ashlyn_Hart
I skill for the love of skilling. I have my eye on the RC skill cape, only because I have never seen one in game and I think the emote is awesome. Why RC, you may ask. Same reason someone else earlier said, it's relaxing. Also, some deep dark part of me loves it when someone asks what my RC (or other skill) lvl is, and all they can say afterwards is, "whoa, nice". I'm a married mother that plays RuneScape. Got a problem with that?
