It's a game. In games you are supposed to try to win. So why can't they try and do there best to win?

 

 

 

thats stupid. real life is 100x more competitive than rs. but you don't see people kicking people off public computers so they can research, or tripping the pizza guy of your competitors, do you? Theres no excuse, anywhere, to not behave like a human being

The problem with the argument "there is no universal set of ethics" and "i can do whatever i want to make me happy" breaks down very easily.

There IS a universal set of ethics, but the only reason people pay attention to them is because the law is there to protect that set of ethics. And it seems to be dwindling everywhere I look every day.

So if I punched my teacher in the face for giving me a low grade then would I be in the right? Would it be acceptable to punch your teacher just because it makes you feel good? No, of course not and if you believe the philosophy about that then I think that you are most likely a horrible little man girl or whatever you are.

 

Another good example of that is bullying, bullys can kick and curse at people because it makes them feel good. Bullys are normally bullied themselves, but would it be acceptable to bring it out on someone else? No, of course not, kicking someone, calling someone a name isn't appropiate in this world.

 

And before you bring up the it's just a game arguement I think I would like too add, would you like it if you were trying to train range, you go somewhere with a big cannon and a stuck up little brat decides that he doesn't want you there because your killing a few more fire giants than you are decides to get you killed, how would you feel?

 

That theory about something being appropriate if it pleases you is a load of :-#.

 

So I stick to the " Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated By Them" philosophy.

All things considered, just because you shouldn't be rude to other people because thats how they treat you, dosent mean you can't be that way. All we can hope for is that most people don't sink down to that retalitory level where they treat everyone else like [cabbage] because one person did the same to them. If you don't like the way your treated, how do you think all the other people you treat the same way feel?

In general, when I'm not training I try to be nice and help people that ask me, but if I'm training somewhere and after a while someone comes in and starts killing the monster I was killing, I'll do whatever it takes to get them to leave besides breaking the rules, meaning I start annoying the hell out of them...

 

 

 

Treat others as you would like to be treated. It's a nice idea, but it just doesn't work for me. How would I like to be treated?

 

Let's say I'm killing blue dragons in the hero's guild. Someone logs in and wants to kill blue dragons too. Since I was here before him/her I would like it if that person leaves for another world. But how many people really do that? I'd say not even 1 in 10 people (according to my experience).

 

 

 

Now let's say I was looking for a world to train. If I were to treat others as I would like them to treat me I would keep hopping till I found an empty world. But do people do this for me? No, they don't. Why should I be nice to them, when they are never nice to me? It's an annoying circle and I don't really see an end to it. What if I am nice to them and keep hopping. They aren't going to change.

 

 

 

It's a very pessimistic view and I'm not really doing my part in trying to make the community better, but the fact is I have already given up my hope for a better community in Runescape, why waste time on them when it's not going to make a difference? How do I know it's not going to make a difference you ask? Because I've tried, I have tried very hard to make at least some people see that being nice is very rewarding in its own way and for some people it really helped! They turned into kind people, but that is just a few people amongst the millions... It just doesn't make a difference and to me it's not even worth trying anymore, end of story.

I'm not saying that all men and women in Runescape are bleeps. I believe Runescape has a core of good people, players that care about the community and the game and are generally nice to almost anyone, but the core is not really what I would call huge (in my opinion that is).

I find it funny how you can call it YOUR spot! Did you buy that part of the gaming area from Jagex?? It's a game dangit, you cant own a training spot, anyone is welcome to come and go. You don't like it, don't play.

I'll play devil's advocate and ask you how you can expect them to behave how you want them to but not vice versa. You expect them to not steal your monster while they expect you to swap worlds. You don't do what they want you to, so why should they do what you ask of them?

I switch worlds too to get by myself, or find a less crowded area. But why do you insist on saying that it's your spot, you were there first, go away! Every player that plays the game, has every right to be where ever they want to be, doing whatever they want to be doing. That means if you're killing a green dragon, and 5 people show up and start competing for the same green dragon, that is their right.

 

 

 

I really hate when people complain because it isn't being done THEIR way. Oh man, PC sucks cause of all the low levels playing. CW's have gone downhill cause somebody did something that I didn't like. Somebody killed me when I was in the wildy minding my own buisness.

I agree with the "Thou shall treat thy neighbor as thou wouldst desire to be treated" thing, but you can't be unreasonable about it. Using the Blue Drags as an example, I would say that you could just share the stupid spot. After all, those other hoppers deserve a spot too. It's common courtesy.

Too many of you have adopted the attitude that complaining about someone being an [wagon] is weakness, it is not weakness it is abiding by a certain standard of fairness and decency, i've switched worlds 20+ times to get to kill say blue drags in the heroes guild, and then some chump walks up and stands under me, HOW IS THAT NOT RUDE? HOW IS THAT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR? (after of course i have asked politely for them to leave, explained that 1 into 2 doesnt work(efficiency) etc..). I will not appreciate being called a whiner or being told i am weak and should just learn to stomach it, because you are the arseholes who steal MY monsters, and make no mistake if ive spent 30mins getting that monster/rock to myself you ARE stealing from me.

I think it's hilarious, if people try and take my monsters, I just beat them to it, same goes for other things. I was training my mining recently in Khazard, and some loser level 80 comes up to my spot with an addy pick. I asked him to hop and he refused, maybe he didn't realise he had an addy pick. So I just beat him to the ore. I don't think he understood that it would have been better for him to hop, as he still didn't hop, but it didn't really affect me.

Someone who knew all the tricks would be able to click fast and accurate enough to force the other person off their world as a bit of friendly competition. Im not sure of the ins and outs of bandit training but i know how to get my way at any dragon spawn or red chinchompa spawn :o.

 

Other people want to train to, your going to have to learn to fight for it.

The best you can do, is offer to share the monster, rock, etc. Most of the popular and easy to approach sites are crowded at pick hours, no matter what world you choose, and if you happen to find an empty one, take in note that that can and most probably will change in few minutes.

Exactly. I'm training at the bandits, and the guy logs in. The entire thing that I explained above happens, when the entire time, he could have gone to the world next door.

at first, as long as this person isn't too low a level to make a difference... i'll ask them to leave... explain how it would be faster for both of us if he found another world.

this is following the golden rule as well (do to others as you want others to do to you) I would like them to hop, and therefore i'm hopping instead.

 

 

 

i think, that since i'm usally acting this way, then i might get a tad lower experience per hour.. but again, it's not often that i run over to the annoying people, even in the dreaded f2p worlds.

What I learned from this thread is that when I feel like sitting down and there's a public bench with an old person sitting on it, then it's perfectly okay to push off the old geezer to get the bench all for myself.

 

After all the bench is not the others property, I have the right of the strongest and it makes me happy to sit on that bench.

 

 

 

Also it's okay to cut in line because nobody owns their place in line.

 

Probably it's also okay to steal candy from children because candy is bad for them anyway and because I can because I'm a higher level in life, therefore I'm more important.

Face it, it is good for them to take your monsters adn training spots so they should do it. It is right for them. You should do waht is right, or positive(read beneficial) for you and take training spot. Force them off your spot! :evil:

i agree with the real life part, but games are about trying to win without having to worry about all that. Think, thats why rs has things like the wildy and duel arena, you be competitive so that you can win without having to worry about the person, because they were trying to do the exact same thing (unless ur like a noob clue/green drag pker [not including autoers])
