Why is Jagex pushing boring skills in order to advance?

Featured Replies

the requirements are what make quests more difficult, and they keep the noobs off the cape :P

and also, ancient magic is very powerful, why should anyone be able to get it in a matter of a few days? you're going to have to work a bit harder if you want something like that.

If jagex wanted it that easy, they wouldn't have bothered making a quest. They would have made you talk to a guy in the desert, and you suddenly have ancients.

Well I recently started a pure and I'm trying to get him to ancients but the skills I just ignored such as fire making, thieving on my main as I had them are actually required for dt and probably lvl 10-20 in 5 other skills just to satisfy the required completed quests. People who want to enjoy the fun of spending 3 hours of clicking on logs can do that but I for once would like to stay on what I want to train and not have to satisfy some pointless quest requirements.

Sorry but this is the most pathetic post ive read

THIS GAME ISN'T MADE FOR PURES AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE A SKILL TUFF LUCK.

I agree, so your point is screw firemaking just concentrate on ancient magic and on pures, firemaking is a good skill think if there wouldn't be firemaking logs would be dropped or sold to members so they could fletch....

the game is meant for normal players, not for pures. If you want to snake your way through the game, abusing the combat system to make your level lower than it should be, then fine, go ahead, because nobody is going to stop you. Just don't complain about how hard it is to do so.

Quests are *not* boring. There are the *only* fun and not repetitive thing in this whole *boring* game for me. Training *is* the *boring* thing.

Haha did I annoy u?

I agree - I want 91 RC really bad, but it's unfair that I should RC to get 91 RC - I hate RC!!!!!!

you are all missing the point, it is a GAME its not a NECCESITY like driving and fun should be 100% of the game or at least as much as the creators can make it, not purposly filled with 90% of time repetitive actions. That I think is the primary reason why we have such a big macroer problem, if you look at wow for example even grinding is made fun, thats why there are almost no auters.

And if you are about to say go play wow, think again as it proves your level of intelegence to be ....

Long Version:

It's quite obvious that Runescape stresses the variety of tasks you can perform, and how they all mesh into each other to make you a better player. Skills tend to be linked to one another, and multiple skills linked to quests and mini games. Quests such as desert treasure have great rewards, and consequentially requires many skills. Specific skills are required for the prerequisite quests like Temple of Ikov, the Digsite Quest, and the Tourist Trap. Basically, although Jagex leaves the game quite open ended, the better rewards in one aspect tend to require a certain amount of training in other aspects. Good herbists can't find better herbs with JUST the herblore skill. They have to be able to fight more difficult monsters for herbs or be a capable farmer, or have a source of income to buy better herbs with. Expert warriors tend to find many good pieces of armor unavailable because they lack quest requirements, which in turn require other skills. That seems to be the whole "point" of Runescape, or at least the one Jagex is pushing.

Short Version:

Jagex wants you to do everything to get better things. ::'

You have to have some obstacles in the process or else it wouldn't be a challenge.

it is your opinion it is boring, but i'm sure other people like the skill.

IE, I find you are boring, but i'm sure your mother does not find you boring.

If you want such a great reward such as ancients your going to have to give up some things. In life if you want something your going to have to lose something to get it. Say you want a car your going to have to lose your money for it.

So if you don't want to do that no anceincts for you then.

oh man not another [wagon] made rant

Because in one part of the quest you have to light these big torches, so you need to know something about firemaking to light them.

Lmfao. There's your answer ;)

So...did you even read membership benefits page where it says teh extra features you get as a member?

Sarcasm-you get free 99's in all skills!

and 2 billion

Just pay one easy fee of 5$!

You think just because you pay 5$ you should not have to do anything 'boring'?

This is just a rant

Ah cmon guys I have nothing against working in games, that in fact is the ONLY way that MMORPG can last! As I'd guess most of you have mains as I do and know that it takes a long time to get to lvl 100 combat. I don't compain on thousands of repetative alches to get my 85 mage and its very repetative, its just like in wow I prefer when you can either train combat or train non combat skills, and where you don't need 300 jewelcrafting to get my warlock spell. I like runescape and I am very aware of what I pay for and how the game works, its just a mere suggestion of how it could be more fun to seperate cmbt and non cmbt. So much negative replies.. :ohnoes:

My point is jagex already got my 5$ a month they dont have to force me to enjoy parts I don't want to :P nothing against firemaking

well mmorpgs are about working, getting something up to be able to do another thing. Think about it, if dt didn't have any reqs cept mage, think of how quickyl you'd die in wildy.

if u want no requirements go play [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation] or something

mini193.png

Doing a little bit of everything

well firemaking is one of the fastest skills in the game, and you could get it to 50 in about a hour I think. And obviously someone must think it's fun, otherwise there wouldnt be 2000+ people with the lvl 99 cape, and even a few people with 200 mil exp in firemaking  !

Yes fire making is a easy skill to train...on one pure i got like 35 fire make in little over a hour. Only i person wiht 200mil fire make xp..his name is Empror1...i wish i could do that

Aww... is the game too hard for you? TOO BAD!!

The point of the game is to advance in everything, with great work comes great reward, not the other way around.

<.<

Pasty.png

I agree, everything is way tooooo hard, yeah sure, lets go with some positive comments, make little I don't feel good about working hard feel good... *sarcasm*

I'm f2p I rather just play this game to talk to friends mostly but, come on the idea of the game, the grinding, is to WORK!!! If it's too much work then be a macroer so I can report you and you are forced to find a new game... :wall:

Exactly. It's like a second life, everything complements the other things. It's part of the game.
