My guess though would be that people saw the prices of whips slowly declining, and those 85+ Slayers decided that it wasn't a very good money maker. If you ask any of them, they would tell you that whips are few and far between most of the time. Some have even moved on to Dark Beasts after the recent update. With the decrease in supply and gradual increase in demand from people getting either the level for a whip, the cash, or the desire to buy one, the prices have been going back up. With all items there is a high and low price range, the higher the price the bigger the range. It just so happens that whips price range is 1.5-1.7m Want to be my friend? jonni Posted July 20, 2007 Share Posted July 20, 2007 I'm not sure why but I've noticed a rise in some barrows sets; Dharoks was dropping below 3m and now its 3.1+, Veracs was dropping below 4m and now its about 4.2+. It could be connected with an influx of new items such as Dark Bows and Dragon Full helms, I'm just not sure why :-k dedicate your idle computer power to a scientific project. Dragon chain has slightly rose in price, the dragonfire shield has too slightly, although today it went down slightly. Ranger sets are slightly rising, most high level equipment is going up again. I think there may perhaps be more people with the cash nowadays for these things so it's causing people to raise prices because they can get away with it. Berrakus Posted July 20, 2007 Share Posted July 20, 2007 I'm not sure why Whip prices have been falling. I can assure that it is NOT because us 90+ slayers are moving on to Dark Beasts. Dark Beasts are completely deserted. And Abby Demons are still pretty crowded and I have actually been getting more whips here recently. Maybe some of the 85+ Slayers have moved on to Visage and/or Dragon Full hunting, but I don't see the price going up for long. Abby Demons are boring, but they are so cheap to kill that the 85+ Slayers will come rushing back if the whip price continues to rise. So indirectly caused prices to rise in another field of market? Ngorge Posted July 20, 2007 Share Posted July 20, 2007 Lvl 99 slayer. No one is at dark beasts. They cost too much to kill, are hard to get to, and dark bows are quite rare. Plenty of people are still at abby demons. The drops besides whips are too good, and you can stay there all day with guthan's, and still make a heady profit. Few of the high level slayers actually attack demons in the slayer tower - most use the demons in the abyss. It is much closer to a bank. Why whip prices might be going up? I'm not sure they are, but if they are, it is from a combination of factors. The pc update has made the mini game much more popular, and a player doesn't have to worry about losing their whip during the game. Also, it is still the best weapon in the game. That's just my thought. ~Lunar Correct. On average it's about 4-5 hours for a whip and 7-8 for a Dark Bow. I'm 75-90 RC so 4-5 hours means 2-2.5m profit from Runecrafting. If anything, there would be less pc products wanting to buy whips with the same amount of slayers harvesting whips so the price would go down. This way, whip merchanters have to pay a higher price to get one. Then people see the "Selling whip, 1.7mil," and think that's actually the price. :-k I know next to nothing about the economy, so have mercy on my pathetic attempt to explain the unexplainable. Also they are the best weapon in the game. With all the people who went for 90 slayer for dark beast they got some whips which brought them down to 1.5M. I assume it's because of the new pc update, perhaps people are in demand of something more than your average dragon scimitar, and would rather be whipping some monsters in pest control. The fairly cheap price of a whip could also be raising the demand. Perhaps the whip will finally become stable at around 1.6m or so. By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( . krisc6 Posted July 21, 2007 Share Posted July 21, 2007 the thing is most of the people selling these wont know the current prices and if theyres only 1 person stood in the area at the time selling 2 mill and says "jagex nerfed the drop"it only takes the rest of the whip sellers to come 15 minutes later to start selling at that price.other sellers come a long and sell at 2 mill meaning that it could take day before some works out one seller messed up.It happens all the time in world 2 especially with rares. bottom line runescape doesnt have a proper economy because its governed by players oppinions.
