July 27, 200718 yr Author Its funny how you say all the bad stuff that Bush did, but you never said anything good he did. I'm sorry, but if I'm just stating the fact that this is the man 53~54 Million people voted for...He better do something good! and please, if you truly believe how he's a good president, give me a list that opposes that..and come on, how can someone that did that much damage is liked? For example: If Someone has a great personality, and is known to be a good person, but then shoots his neighbor in the head...because he was drunk..would you remember him for being the "great personality" or the fact that he shot a freaking bullet on a person's head. (sorry, the only thing I can come up in these few seconds) ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅThe media's the most powerful entity on earth. For example: If Someone has a great personality, and is known to be a good person, but then shoots his neighbor in the head...because he was drunk..would you remember him for being the "great personality" or the fact that he shot a freaking bullet on a person's head. (sorry, the only thing I can come up in these few seconds) One big reason is he guided us through 9/11 , that was a very tough time for all Americans, and Bush did an EXCELLENT job of doing that. What also pisses me off is when people, who are old enough to vote, choose NOT to vote, then they start complaining that "this president is doing a horrible job", well you should honestly keep your mouth shut, since if you choose not to vote, you have to right to complain. I have this rather lengthy email I received If you're not a Jay Leno fan read what he wrote anyway. My respect and esteem for him has really increased. "The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What we are so unhappy about?'' Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year? Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy. Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have , and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here. I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig. So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane! Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed peoples on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative." "With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?" Jay Leno Then again some points here have to do with Religious aspects, I'm not saying anything to anyone, I just simply posted something that I thought, some people should read. If you don't like it, just don't flame me, again I'll stress, This is an email I received, and I thought it had some good points to it. If you disagree with this, you can go ahead and PM me about it, I don't want to get this thread locked.
July 27, 200718 yr I think the statement would be more appropriate by saying "Under Bush", because your implying that bush had something to do with 9/11. With all regards to the situation, the only effect he had on 9/11 is the cleanup, restoration, medical issues, etc. [which was actually taken care of by the government of new york more than the national government] He's actually had a very positive increase to TECHNICALITIES in national security. I am not implying that he increased the safety of our nation in any way, the Iraq and Afganistan wars put us at more of a threat than we ever were, I am only mentioning that he positively effected the enforcement of guards and our national security systems I'm not defending Bush either, I believe he is one of the worst presidents in American history.
July 27, 200718 yr Author OK. So, if America is loved by everyone why is it lead for 8 years by someone like him? -- Fine, I'm not saying that he didn't do anything to benefit this country (but he was close). This is a simple article written in 2004: Bush Started Out Bad and Got Worse by John Nichols There was never much chance that The Capital Times was going to endorse George W. Bush for a second term. Bush got zero votes from our editorial board in 2000 - the members divided between Democrat Al Gore and Green Ralph Nader, with Gore easily prevailing because of the broad sense on the part of the board that Bush had to be stopped. And he was stopped. Gore won in Wisconsin that year, and he secured a 600,000 popular-vote victory nationwide. Even in the contested state of Florida, there was never any question that a clear plurality of voters cast their ballots with the intention of electing Gore - unfortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court intervened to prevent a full accounting of those sentiments. So Bush started out on our bad side. Then, of course, there was the matter of Bush's presidency itself. As a newspaper, we have not disagreed so frequently and so consistently with a president since Herbert Hoover - and The Capital Times had a far higher regard for Hoover's intellect than we have ever been able to muster for Bush. It wasn't just that Bush was wrong, it was that he was so obviously wrong. It was obvious that Bush's trade policies would lead to job losses - and they did. It was obvious that Bush's tax policies would expand the gap between rich and poor - and they did. It was obvious that Iraq would become a quagmire - and it did. Nothing that went wrong with Bush's presidency came as a surprise to readers of this newspaper. In fact, it is fair to say that frequently over the past four years The Capital Times and its readers - like a lot of Americans - knew better than Bush himself that his policies could not succeed. So, when it came time to make our endorsement this fall, there was not much doubt that The Capital Times would endorse Democrat John Kerry - just as there was never any real doubt that the Wisconsin State Journal, which echoes the White House spin more slavishly than many paid Republican operatives, would dutifully endorse George Bush. (It was a surprise that Madison's morning newspaper endorsed the congressional candidacy of Dave Magnum, whose inability to make a serious case for himself was highlighted by his relentlessly negative campaign against incumbent Tammy Baldwin.) Some will suggest that the State Journal's endorsement of Bush was simply an expression of the newspaper's conservatism - in the same sense that The Capital Times' endorsement of Kerry was an expression of this newspaper's progressivism. But that notion misreads where sincere conservatives are headed this year. A remarkable number of honest conservatives have rejected the Bush re-election campaign. As Scott McConnell, the executive editor of the American Conservative magazine, wrote last week, "George W. Bush has come to embody a politics that is antithetical to almost any kind of thoughtful conservatism. His international policies have been based on the hopelessly naive belief that foreign peoples are eager to be liberated by American enemies - a notion more grounded in Leon Trotsky's concept of global revolution than any sort of conservative statecraft." More than three dozen daily newspapers that endorsed Bush in 2000 are this year backing John Kerry. At least 10 more conservative dailies that backed Bush in 2000 declined to make an endorsement this year. Many of the most conservative newspapers in the country, including Florida's Tampa Tribune, have rejected Bush this year. The most fascinating switch by a newspaper that backed Bush in 2000 and backs Kerry this year came in the region of the United States that refers to itself as "Bush Country." The Waco Tribune-Herald, the newspaper that circulates in Crawford, Texas, where the presidential ranch is located, backed Bush enthusiastically in 2000 - when he was running as a "compassionate conservative" who did not want the United States to be "the policeman of the world." This year, the Tribune-Herald editors wrote, "President Bush consistently has put tax cuts above budget austerity or other domestic aims. The proof of that condition is a record $422 billion deficit, with a national debt of $7.4 trillion that is growing rapidly. 'America can do better,' says John Kerry. He is right." This has been a long, strange political year. But there is something reassuring about the fact that, at the end of the day, honest progressives and honest conservatives have come to so many of the same conclusions regarding the presidential contest. It is not a matter of agreeing on issues, but rather of recognizing the truth of the political moment. As former Kentucky Sen. Marlow Cook, a conservative Republican, said when he endorsed Kerry, "For me, as a Republican, I feel that when my party gives me a dangerous leader who flouts the truth, takes the country into an undeclared war and then adds a war on terrorism to it without debate by the Congress, we have a duty to rid ourselves of those who are taking our country on a perilous ride in the wrong direction." July 27, 200718 yr True you might point at someone and say all the horrible, failure things they did, but you might have done the same thing in the situation and you can't only say the parts that you like, you must list the good and bad. Maybe he has done more bad then good, but maybe it was situation you can always point at someone and make them sound horrible for example: I could say Nixon was a horrible president who was nasty, hated hippies and tried to coverup wategate, or I could say Nixon opened up with China, made an effort to reduce nuclear arms and took the American troops out of Vietname, a useless blood bath but he also made the mistake of trying to cover up the watergate scandal. Same thing goes for anyone, if someone would only describe the bad in you, you might be described as a hateful, litterbug who seems like his goal in life is to make people feel like trash or they could say you do mess up sometimes but you balance it all out by your goodwill and charity.
July 27, 200718 yr I don't have time to dig up sources right now since I am packing for a trip but that first post has many statements that are flat out not true. Like this one... Reversed the greatest period of prosperity in its history If you are referring to the dot com bust that was already kicking in at the end of Clinton's term and it was a normal economic cycle due to people making very stupid investment decisions and driving the P/e's of stocks to insane levels. Or this one... Fostered a global climate based on fear and hatred not seen on this planet since the Nazi regime Wow... propaganda for the win! If I was polled on if I was happy with the President right now I would say no because on several big issues I feel he has let down his voter base and strayed from the principles that they voted him into office on. To go to the extreme you are going comparing him to the Nazi's and blaming everything wrong in the world on him is ridiculous.
July 27, 200718 yr There are so many flaws in what you stated, that I threw up in my mouth a little bit. You presented no facts at all, much like the news shows you probably got this information from. - Only character in Runescape History maxed out in RSC and RS2

July 27, 200718 yr well mcguff beat me to it. These lovely sweeping soundbites might sound nice, but i'd like to see the facts for some of these. For example: Insulted and alienated more of it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s allies than ever before in its history this is very difficult to quantify, i'd love to see some facts ( if there are any) for this one Lost the respect of more people around the world than ever before in its history see comment above. How do you quantify respect? Were every person in the world asked before and after Bush came to power how they respected the US? Appointed more convicted felons to government posts than any other president in history I thought that I would quote this one, because, although it 'may' be true (i don't know the facts), this could be simply representative of a larger population. Statistically, the same proportion of the population could be appointed, with a higher absolute number due to a larger population. Next time, post some proper facts to discuss. July 27, 200718 yr Like some people have said before, you need facts to back up the things you claim. So many people out there say they hate Bush and when they're asked why, they start spilling out the same old crap that the media has been telling us day in and day out. So many people act like broken records by whining about the same stuff the media states. It's amazing how they can state an abundance of bad aspects about Bush (a lot of which are not true) but they can never say anything good about him. Not because he didn't do anything good. But because they're too ignorant to figure things out for themselves and soak up everything the media says like a sponge.

What does he do? He posts bush videos!!! Worse, he posted them following some 2004 article that, judging by his copy and paste skills, he hasn't read or does not understand! Great support, absolutely awesome!
July 28, 200718 yr Experienced the worst national security failure in its history That is not his fault, if bill clinton was still president he wouldnt have been able to prevent it either, because america was blind up til then Reversed the greatest period of prosperity in its history [sarcasm]Of course its all the president's fault the economy goes down[/sarcasm] (although it can probably partially be his fault dont give him all the credit >_>) Lost the most jobs during a single presidential term in its history Again, not all his fault, probably happened because the economy went down Invaded and occupied a nation that did not harm or threaten the US for the first time in history. [sarcasm]Why would we ever want to stop a man that was killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people, and was actually presenting a threat to us, but who cares about human rights any ways...let 'em die who's gonna care...[/sarcasm] This war with Iraq was innevitable if George didnt start it then someone else eventually would... Denied the public access to more information than any other time in its history. somethings shouldn't be known for security reasons... Appointed more convicted felons to government posts than any other president in history (I would sarcasm here again but its getting old =P) He did not personnally appoint every single one of them... Insulted and alienated more of it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s allies than ever before in its history Some of our allies, For Example France and Germany, still sell guns to terrorists, and we are still good allies with quite a few countries Lost the respect of more people around the world than ever before in its history Most just hate him because everyone else does and they think its cool to hate Bush and America, its like a new fad Replaced more science with religious ideology than at any at other time in its history Yes, i am not a religious Man, and he doesnt seem very science oriented, so i somewhat agree with you on this one  Divided the nation and the people of the world like never before in its history The people divided themselves, the "people" disagreed with themselves so the "people" divided the country (although i dont see the country as "divided" besides politically -.- I do not agree with all of what bush does but you are quite biased in your statements.... P.S. You will be a great news reporter someday
