Rebdragon
Why the heck is water transparent in all it's forms, yet suddenly becomes opaque and white when in cloud form? Still don't get that. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series. Lenin64
Why the heck is water transparent in all it's forms, yet suddenly becomes opaque and white when in cloud form? Still don't get that. It's probably-and I'm just guessing here- because of the amount of water vapor in that space, theres so much of it that it becomes an opaque white. But thats just a guess Command the Murderous Chalices! Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow- Death to Moby Dick!BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! meol
Why the heck is water transparent in all it's forms, yet suddenly becomes opaque and white when in cloud form? Still don't get that. Dense deep clouds exhibit a high reflectance (70% to 95%) throughout the visible range of wavelengths: they thus appear white, at least from the top. Cloud droplets tend to scatter light efficiently, so that the intensity of the solar radiation decreases with depth into the cloud, hence the gray or even sometimes dark appearance of the clouds at their base. Easy as cake. [Edit] I didn't write my question! #-o Do I think they way think simply because I think in that way, or because of how I have been raised? I am too different from my sister, for example. Would that means that some people are simply kind/evil by nature? If so, is this genetic? This signature is intentionally left blank. meol
Because males had always played the roles of hunters, whereas the women only were child-bearers and sometimes incipient farmers (they only collected fruits from trees, but didn't have agriculture). Being taller allows you to have larger legs and run faster, having a bigger chest allowed for a better physical strength and endurance; simple better adaptation to your role. johntm
2. highest someone can jump (vertical) from standing still? I started wondering, so I searched for it. Its not totally a 'standing still' jump, but ive found this: Did you see Steve Francis in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest? Then he finished as the runner-up to Vince Carter with some sick dunks. Actually, he had a 44-inch vertical at that time! That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s right, 44 inches(Thats 3,67 feet, or 111 centimeters)! Besides Vince Carter (45-inch vertical) Stevie Franchise had the highest vertical in the league at that time! And in case you didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know - the guy is only 6̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ 3̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢! ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà

trapical
Yea this thread is about random things you have always wanted to know about. Well some thing I always wanted to know were... Is it possible to drink a gallon of chocolat milk in under an hour without throwing up? No, your stomach is like a water balloon that can't be tied shut. Sure it can stretch if you fill it with things like food, but if it's full of just water it the sides won't be able to stretch without just pushing the water out of the top of the balloon. If you drink 1 gallon of water, your stomach will quickly pass it on to the intestines. But the stomach can't pass milk it to the intestines until it has digested all the protein in there. Hence, if you drink 1 gallon of milk the stomach can't hold it all at once and it takes ~2-3 hours to digest all that protein. Is the moon made of blue cheese? No. what if the whole world became buried under 10ft of snow? Well snow is actually mostly air. Snow only has 1.5 inches of water per foot of snow. So 10 feet of snow is 15 inches of water, about a foot. A lot of this water would be absorbed into the ground especially in places like the Sahara. The rest would melt pretty soon, in the sun in most parts of the world. The net effect would probably be the ocean's rising by about 10 inches. My question: Is there anyone who estimated the total amount of money worldwide, and what would the number be? Good question, impossible to tell though since most money is kept electronically these days. My guess is the world's actual cash reserves is about 3/4 that of the worlds GDP (48 trillion). Is it possible for a plane to take up on a giant treadmill? Eh? I don't see the room for debate on this one. If it's engines were going and the treadmill was running backwards to ensure the plane remained stationary, no it couldn't. If the treadmill propelled a plane with no engines, it's would eventually reach a flight velocity but it's tires would loose grip as soon as the force made the pressure was equal to the Normal Force. It would never go airborne, it's tires would just start to slip causing it to slow down until it was able to speed up again, ad nauseum, ad nauseum. Is there any point in space where you are not affected by any gravity whatsoever? No. Newton's law of gravitational acceleration states that you are affected by the force of gravity of an object no matter how far away you are. So even if the entire universe was made of just you and a teddy bear, and the teddy bear was trillions of light years away, you would still be affected by it's gravity. What's the skin between your thumb and index finger called? There's a name for it, just can't remember. The finger's syndact Do blind people dream? Yes, they dream the same way we dream--its indistinguishable from reality for them. I think you meant to say can they see in their dreams. That answer is no, dreams are made of past images in our heads mixed in with random thoughts. So a blind person's dream would be just that. warri0r45
I'd really like to know why some people insist on assuming answers to difficult questions when there are only unverifiable ideas and then why some of these people act as if it's odd or wierd when someone is truly honest with themselves and dosen't pretend to know the answers to these questions. I'd also like to know why those being honest in not pretending to be privy to these answers are thought to be untrustworthy, hateful, unbalanced and are constantly misrepresented. But... I kind of do know the answers to these questions. It's the way society and parenting works. Mother -> child -> accept, repeat. Mother -> child -> accept, repeat. I'll leave it up to your gray matter to fill in my blank and unspecific musings.
