The effect of autoers

There have been many posts about autoers and what should be done with them... however I didn't see one that provided raw data like I will...

I was happily reporting autoers at maze, varrock yews and various shops when i started noticing the same set of names pop up pretty often... after the 6th world in a row with these autoers on it i decided to see just how many accounts these guys had...

the name was four digits (don't want this to get locked but if you need proof i'll pm you with the info) so it was four digits and then three numbers... so the name looked like this ****001 then ****002 ect ect

so i took the base name and started looking up these autoers starting at 001 and working my way up... I got to 480...

the average level for wcing for these accounts was between 73-75 with 83 being the highest level i saw...

480 accounts + Average of 719k experience after reaching 60 wc

=

oh ok... thats only a total of 345,120,000 experience

now lets divide that by the exp per yew log... [garden tool] humm....

divided by 175 exp per log... we come up with lessee

1,972,114 roughly

now lets times that number by 350 (average price for yews today right?)

690,240,000 gps.....

thats a rather large number... i mean seriously... thats nearly 700m in gold...

Now lets say this guys accounts were made for profit for selling online to other runescape players... I'm not sure what the number is but i've heard its around 10-15$ for a million gold pieces... anyone back me up? so lets just take 700 and times it by $13.50... thats $9,450 in real life money... and all this work was probably done in under 3-4 weeks...

With that kind of incentive there is now way jagex can stop autoers....

remember this is just one of the many groups of autoers out there... i have three other names that I am looking into right now...

multiple computers running at the same time? think of an internet cafe... at your home, all automated lol

and if you have two accounts and you click - login - at the same time you can both get on... me and my friends did it all the time at the library when we first started...

I've abandoned all hope for woodcut in f2p, because the autoers are so great, and i can afford members. Jagex needs 2 full time j mods to ban these suckers, im sure if they had the name of one they could figure it out pretty easily

Ah ye ole Autoer discussion. :P

I guarentee Bots will never be completely wiped from the game. Though whilst they are here, the ruin the game for many. They obviously have a vast effect on the RuneScape Market. (Making Yew prices fall, then rise etc).

The only way I see Jagex stopping Autoers is going to their source of selling, the Gold Selling sites. If theymanage to get such sites shut down, then they can put a dent in the autoer business. But I assume it is quite hard to do this. :|

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

And this is only "one" of the bases of which do yews. Imagine about the iron, coal, flax, bowstrings, and runes.

We're doom. No point in manging thy kingdom anymore.

The ones that auto sell their rs gold for low sums of money to the big dealers, because they can't be botherd with waiting, so the max they gain is about 2.5 to 3.5 dollars per mil.

And really, if your talking about it, autoing is pointless, you could gain alot more by dealing on rs cash from the autoers to the big companies.

Nice facts. Too bad the JAGeX Moderators don't ban macroers in F2P. Maybe it's because there are too many of them in F2P and they lose more money if P2P bots are banned.

Anyway, I report the ones with Rune Axes first, then the rest later.

You won't find it any better on members. There are hordes of autoers etc. around the yews in Varrock and around Falador. I counted 20 the other day on the Yews near the crafting guild.

I believe Mod Al and Mod Pheby have that job in members.

Sure there is. Jagex can sell RS gold themselves. All they need to do is undercut the gold farmers to the point where there is no way they can recover their bandwidth costs, let alone make a profit and there is no incentive to auto (except for the rare case of the player who simply wants to get high levels with minimal effort)

I would like to point out an error in your set of data.

You can't take the total experience and divide it by the amount of experience per yew. Most of that experience had to have been gained by cutting normal trees, oaks, and willows because they wouldn't be able to cut yews until level 60. So your data isn't correct.

You actual calculation should look like:

Total experience - (exp for level 60 x # of autoers) / exp per yew = # of yews

double check yourself... i subtracted the exp gained from lvl 1 to lvl 60 from the amount of exp at level 73 then i did my calculations...

I would love if Jagex sold gold. But it's an unfair advantage to poor people.

So is membership. So is owning a computer in the first place.

Poor people would worry more about putting bread on their family's plates than the amount of gold they had in an online game.

And what does it really matter to you if someone else has more gold than you do? Everything in game is achievable with hard work (more enjoyable that way too IMHO). If someone simply wished to buy their way to a few levels and some neato items, it's not going to take anything away from our experience.

That wouldn't stop it, all it would do is lower the value that the autoer "program runners" would sell the gp for per mil.

Also, it would mess up the in-game money system, because now money is completely free flow and could be generated by Jagex 24/7...causing inflation.

I'm guessing you missed the bit where I said "undercut the gold farmers to the point where there is no way they can recover their bandwidth costs, let alone make a profit", so here it is again in big red letters:

undercut the gold farmers to the point where there is no way they can recover their bandwidth costs, let alone make a profit

Right... and people buying money from Jagex is different to people buying money from autoers and gold-farmers in what way? People already buy money. What difference does it make who they buy it from? What does inflation matter anyway? If today you're selling flax at 100gp and buying sharks at 1k, would it be any different if tomorrow you are selling flax at 200ea and buying sharks at 2k?

At least you got that right.
