September 19, 200718 yr If you searched for "runescape" on google tip.it used to be the second result, but now it is on the second page, behind zybez and a bunch of gold buying sites. I believe it is because Zybez promotes runescape add-ons while tip.it doesn't. What are your views?
September 19, 200718 yr Don't care, don't know :XD: We all know Tip.it is better really :P Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements
September 19, 200718 yr Those sites may have payed to be higher on the results. Tip.it is the first thing that come up when you search tip though.
September 19, 200718 yr My guess would be because SwiftSwitch is hosted by it, and a lot of people use SS, so they get curious and go to zybez. 621st person to achieve 99 slayer on December 3rd, 2007177th person to 99 summoning on June 21st, 2008
September 19, 200718 yr Wait, isn't it ranked on amount of searches or something wierd like that? As someone above mentioned, Zybez is where people go to get SS which many, many people use so that could result in a much larger amount of people searching for it. Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements
September 19, 200718 yr I belive it would be to do with SS wont it? everytime a player searches for an item in the zybez item database on SS it will put a request into the site counting as a view?
September 19, 200718 yr Google ranks the page depending on how many pages have a link to your page. So basically, if you have 5 sites linking to you and someone else 3, you'll be above him. That however is way too simplistic, it's actually a bit more complicated. If you have a high "page rank" (a number determining how high your ranking is based on the linking principal) the pages you're linking to automatically gives them a higher page rank then if a page with a low page rank links to that page. After all, a link from the IBM homepage has much more value then a link from your blog. Also, the less links you have, the page rank the linked to sites gain, you automatically spread your page rank evenly amongst the site you link to. This however creates a mathematical problem, because to know the page rank of a certain page, you need to know the page rank of the pages linking to it, but to know that, you need to know the page rank of those pages, etc. (I don't know how this is solved yet, I know it has something to do with matrixes, but that's where I am now with learning about page rank ). So the conclusion probably is, Zybez has more pages linking to them and/or the pages linking to Zybez have a higher page rank themselves. September 19, 200718 yr The better question is why are all those gold selling sights in the first page? While lonely old tip-it gets page 2 If you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
September 19, 200718 yr It is because of the Price guide they have their. They get a lot of visitors just for that. Also they get TONS of requests from IRC scripts using their futures etc. Many people link to the price guide so they get boosted google ranks for being a "linked to hub". It adds up and they pass tip.it. 21 lag piles, 4 Pjs, 2 Party hat kills, 67 newbs teached.
September 19, 200718 yr The better question is why are all those gold selling sights in the first page? While lonely old tip-it gets page 2 Because people are trying to manipulate the page rank, by buying their way up. Making a bunch of sites with only a link to you site used to be one of the possibilities. However Google found a pretty good way to stop that specific manipulating, so it's much more sophisticated now. I don't know how it's done nowadays. September 19, 200718 yr The better question is why are all those gold selling sights in the first page? While lonely old tip-it gets page 2 THAT is the question, isn't it? If the number of clicks determine how high a placement the website gets, how many people actually use those gold-buying websites? :ohnoes: No wonder the goldfarmer/autoer problem is so bad. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

The googlebot (its actually known as that) literally crawls through the web. And so the more pages you have linked to the website through a particular search the higher your rating on google. Some sites are blacklisted by google, BMW are one of them because they created a separate page with thousands of links to their site just to get high google rankings. I believe this is the answer you're looking for.

September 19, 200718 yr my guess is because either they pay something to be first, or they are first because tons of people use zybez price guide multiple times a day.
September 19, 200718 yr Both zybez and tip.it are very good sites. I like the calculators and guides on tip.it more than on zybez. However, the price guide on zybez is very good and I also use that a lot. As mentioned above, the real question is why are those gp selling sites up there?
September 19, 200718 yr Isn't that good? Now all the newbs who google search "runescape" will go to zybez and spam it up instead of coming here \

They require for all clan advertisements to link back to them.

EDIT: Google seemed messed up with Runescape results to me at all. I hardly got any gold selling sites (maybe it's place bound), but I did got this on the first page -.-. Note, it's about someone asking on how to "hack" runescape. *Sigh* Another EDIT: I also found this article. The first thing has already been posted on this forum, but I was pretty surprised by the last paragraph. I was wondering what the username could be? (Note; it states a boy hanged himself after he thought he was hacked a few years back, his account was in the top 10.) September 19, 200718 yr i think zybez is used more frequently cause of the price check, calcs and yeah...
September 19, 200718 yr Tipit is 2nd search for me behind runescape.com when I look up runescape on google. RSN: Zammyftw ^^The girl that ruined music.
September 19, 200718 yr Runescape community boards + zybez are used more to the best of my knowledge. I like it that way though. Getting another sig[removed]
September 19, 200718 yr Those sites may have payed to be higher on the results. Tip.it is the first thing that come up when you search tip though. You can't pay to be higher up on Google's ranks. However, you can advertise (on the top or bottom).
