Matok
[hide=click for the original post]just ruined the battlestaves making business?? i read what people wrote in the last update post and couldn't believe it. Went to checked it out myself and...yes!!! there is simply no point at making/charging orbs anymore. =D> Varroc and the Mage guild shops dont sell those anymore (used to have 5 in stock) Baba yage has 1 in stock (on the player tab) and the MTA sells them for 20 tele, 20 alch,200 enchament and 20 graveyard pts (which means 20 minutes minimum per staff from what i remember) the question is why? ok,you dont want to provide an infinite number of staves but why nerfing an already nerfed crafting branch??? Not that i am addicted to the battlestaves making business but those few k orbs in the back of my bank where waiting for a nice update. i know i am not the only one who looked forward for this update mostly for the battlestaves. i realy dont see the reason behind this[/hide] [update]Saved the battlestaves business!!! Baba Yage has now 20 in stock and the price at the MTA was reduced to: 1 tele, 1 alch,20 enchament and 1(or 2?) graveyard pts which makes a nice alternative for getting them. Varoc shop also has some dialy stock now (see the KB for details) Just thought that after all the complains it will be nice to put some good words for a change. nice work =D>

muggiwhplar
... how exactly does one get a battle stave then, if they haven't done lunar diplomacy? Mage Training Arena Seaweed and battle staff changes explained. Some people have been asking why we have removed these items from shops and put them elsewhere. We have removed the battlestaffs and seaweed from shops because they were things which were balanced on having rather limited stocks. Battlestaffs have a pretty hefty cost mark up once you've added the orbs which was a lot of the reason for making them. And if you could get unlimited amounts of sand and soda ash the crafting xp rate is actually pretty insane for very little effort. Fortunately before it was hard for many players to buy these things in volume, so they sort of self balanced, otherwise we'd have actually considered them broken. Unfortunately if we left these items at limited stocks then as we removed other autobuyer targets such as runes and arrows - these would have been quite an obvious target for bots, the price mark up from shop prices on these objects is actually pretty good, the legitimate people buying these items could quite soon be ranting at us, due to the bots selling out their stock thus that they could buy none. A premptive strike was clearly needed. Our aim is to keep these items at limited availability, but to change the ways for getting them to something not autobuyer friendly. Our aim isn't to make these things any harder (or easier) to get overall. If we've not got these altenative methods quite right, then I'm happy to tweak them For example I understand that the mage training arena pizzazz cost might be a bit prohibatively high for pracitically buying battlestaffs right now. I am looking into this to see what a sensible cost in pizzazz points would be. I'd like to get people using that area a little more anyway :) We will also be increasing baba yagas stock levels of battlestaffs, to 20. Getting seaweed from nets while fishing monkfish is quite good and was originally meant to be considered a bit of an additional reward for completing swansong. Unfortunately it possibly got a bit nerfed when we then released the trade ships, but its still there. Theres plenty of other less conveniently located spawns for the lower levels too. I'll certainly be thinking of other ways for players to get seaweed too. http://forum.[Please Use QuickFind Code].ws?15,16,5,52081445

Lenticular_J
Why is everyone so angry about this? Very few people used it to level crafting, as the money lost to experience ration was terrible. I myself am a somewhat middling-to-high-leveled crafter, and I've only made a battlestave when I wanted a mystic air staff (Why? Not quite sure...But my friends never ask to borrow it :P). I lost 1.2k in that, cheapest way I could....I hope. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

D. V. Devnull
I'm skipping right down after reading some 20-odd posts or so between 2 threads... and here's the question... What about those that use the battlestaves for battling, and need to not worry about having to go over heck-and-high-water for it? Why didn't they adjust the shop engine for stock specification controlling? Sounds like there's work to be done yet. ~Mr. D. V. I myself am a somewhat middling-to-high-leveled crafter, and I've only made a battlestave when I wanted a mystic air staff (Why? Not quite sure...But my friends never ask to borrow it :P). I lost 1.2k in that, cheapest way I could....I hope. I have no idea what you did to lose money, but when I crafted them I made a profit of 2-2.3k! I collected my own seaweed (so I didn't need to buy that), I retrieved sand from Bert (Hand in the Sand quest). Then using the glassmaking for lunar spellbook, I crafted my own orbs. from there it was just buying the battlestaves and attaching the orbs after I charged them. I mine my own ess, crafted my own Cosmics and Voila! 2k-2.3k profit! No, I am (and from my experience of buying staves last night) and I know there are others upset with this update. I am not going to use my Pizzazz points for battlestaves because I am trying to save up for infinity gear. It is bad enough I don't have the luxury of endless amount of time, but when I do play I like to focus on one thing to do. Battlestaving for me was a big money maker because of how I do it. I was happy when there were three places to purchase and now there is only 1. Increase the stock to 20, I really don't think that is going to help at all. People will still worldhop just to purchase what they can when they can. That shall change nothing, imo. But that is how I feel about it. ~A lil mage goes a long way~

How to solve the seaweed problem...don't know. I hope Jagex hurries to correct the battlestaff problem.
