What about making a lot of 99's a whole lot easier? Fletching? Magic? Range?

Well, making getting a 99 easier, I see as a good thing, but some people consider it a downside

because they like to powerlevel their fingers to the bone for 30 days.

why else would you play runescape? if you like the number 99 so much, take a marker and draw a huge 99 on a piece of paper and stare at it for 5 hours.

Iv read all these new posts, seeing people not able to sell items anymore, and anyone can buy anything very fast, and all this other stuff...

What if jagex wanted this? What if they wanted us to make air runes to USE them for spells instead of selling them off to a company, same thing be with laws and natures. This shop update is the most realistic Iv seen in a while. Since when do you go into the candy store and buy chocolate bars 10 at a time, and then go back for more?

I think jagex intends for players to use their items for more then just buy and sell. Personally, Ill love being able to go to any world, and buy 30k bronze arrows to just train with, not having to worry about merchant world prices, population (getting into them), and the ever increasing inflation (before all this), instead, I just go, buy, use, and move on.

Controlling this inflation was probably another hope of jagexs. They can now set all the prices, meaning if they make a RC update, or a whatever update, rune prices wont sky rocket due to the fact that people cant do something as fast as they could before.

Post your thoughts.

You make your own chocolate bars  ?

Anyways I think Jagex made a clever desicion on this update. It's a loss for a lot of merchanters though I think

To get an Onyx \' you need 33,000 Chaos runes  to sell for Tokkul. Set shop

price for Chaos is 140, multiply by 33,000, and that's 4.62m GP needed to make a Fury.

If you can sell for anthing more than that you've turned a profit.

At old store prices it only would cost about 3.5m to do this, and you could sell for 800k+ profit each

time. I personally made millions of GP doing this. But I guess the profit margin isn't as wide now. :(

Not sure but....if you buy at shop price and sell, would you actually lose money? Whether it's tokkul or GP, if you sell the item you purchase, wouldn't it sell back at like 1/2 price??

Most probably

I found out that the requirements for most updates in these two or three months requires some of the skills in order to acquire the minimum requirements of it

For example, GWD requires agility levels (part of it)

Dragon shield, if I'm right, need a high defence to wield

The shop update, undoubtedly, encourages players to craft their runes, and be self-supporting in other ways. The dramatic rise in price in runes, especially the elemental ones (although they can be replaced by a staff, a rune is necessary in most cases IF you attempt to use a attack spells, which most likely, needs air runes to cast)

BTW, I love this update. At least, the air rune price (i'm currently crafting 'em) slightly rises from 14gp to 15 or 16gp ea, which is a good news for me. (I can use a runner if the airs are 16ea, as I can recover the cost by this way)

Currently taking a break from Runescape

#1 way to make Fury Amulet before was to switch worlds for three hours buying out all

the Chaos Runes in the Magic Guild or Pest Control rune shop, then sell them for Tokkul to

the rune shop in Tz-Haar. This way, you just buy all 33k needed Chaos Runes all at once, then

sell 50 at a time to Ta-Haar shop instead of 10. Probably take 15 minutes to get an Onyx now,

if you already have the cash.

Expect Fury prices to plummet.

Yeh, I just sell my air runes at 15gp each in Aubury's. Since I have over 45k and selling, I obviously have no problem selling for a price that I used to sell at anyway.

Yes, my thought is that if you sell things in a mass quantity at a lower price you'd get more cash. :)

I dont need a siggy no moar.

I guess what you say is true, maybe jagex does want to encourage the use of our own made products. Personally, i usually use what i make for the most part, all the bows i got from 99 fletching, or at least the main amount of them i alched with natures me and my friend crafted, and usually the logs i cut are usually burned for fm exp. The only real thing i make now that i sell for profit is nature runes, which aren't very easy to sell for the usual 300 each anymore. Not to mention pure essence is very scarce now, and you can almost never find a single seller on the forums, and the price has jumped up to 120ea in most forum threads, and W2 there was even people buying for 130 at one point.

So in one way, yes, Jagex could be encouraging players to be able to play runescape without needing tons of cash to get what you need, or having the ability to not always need to sell whatever raw materials you have for cash.

I think you added an extra 0 into that. By the way, it's 33334 chaos to be more specific. And no one has bought an onyx this way since the karamja achievement diary came out with a new cheaper method of getting an onyx for only 260k tokkul (28889 chaos runes) This still costs 4,044,460 gp, so you will lose somewhere between 50-350k gp depending on the price you sell the onyx for.

Bottom line: you cant make a profit on onyx with chaos anymore. But the chaos method has been dead for a while anyway.

The obby maul/knife/sword/cape method still works fine for getting an onyx. Dont expect fury prices to change much.

I came to the same conclusion as the author of this thread, a while back. Jagex's goal here wasn't just to fight bots and reduce the tedium of buying from shops -- they wanted to take out some of the things that undermine skills.

While people complain about not being able to easily buy pineapples right next to a bank/plot or food that heals as much as monkfish for 9 gp, my personal view is that these things cheapened the game. They never should have been there in the first place.
