Built in RuneScape Auto-Talker

To be honest, if everyone used this in world 1 or 2 there would be less frequent messages than the people who are using downloaded auto-talkers because the ones that are downloaded can have a time restriction as low as 1 second! This would for sure have one above 8 seconds. See the difference? 1 second .. 8 seconds. Although it will be a lot slower, you won't have to type the message over and over again. You can if you want, though.

Auto talkers are illegal. You are not supposed to spam chat by constantly typing the same thing. This would effectivley be creating a built in macro.

 

 

 

As if there aren't already built-in macros? What is cook-x? string-x, etc. They do repetitive actions for you.

 

 

 

If there is a reasonable time limit (.1 seconds per character?) then an autotalker will genuinely help the community.

Great Idea and photos, too. I really pity you for the flame you're getting. People just don't understand how this would help. They keep thinking that some 10 year old is going to spam every second.

 

 

 

I personally feel that this is a well thought out idea. If you can't fight the enemy, embrace it. Furthermore, people in W2 are using so much auto-talker that its so full of spam in the first place. Adding this would not deteriorate the situation, but improve it instead. Think about it, the auto-talkers people are using in W2 types a full length message and pushes 'enter' every 2-3 seconds while the in-game auto-talker only does this once every 8-10 seconds. PLUS one has to hit enter everytime he/she desires for the message to be 'entered'.

 

 

 

A win-win situation it is. Jagex could still ban people using the 3rd-party auto-talker. People, naturally afraid of getting their accounts banned, would then turn to the auto-talker feature in the game instead, making less spam (2sec/msg VS 8sec/msg) and overall, making the community a better place :) .[/u]

If anything like this, they could add a banner above your head for a certain amount of time that doesn't affect the chat box or something like that, but no way to have everyone using autotalkers...imagine the places where people already spam. How annoying would that get? I understand that there would be a limit, but if everyone has one on then how will you effectively negotiate prices and such?

Since so many people are bashing your idea, let me change a bit for you.

 

 

 

Idea:

 

Get a code (Number and/or letter) like color (Red:) and pattens (Scroll:) for a permanent sentance over your head.

 

When you want to stop using it just use the code again to stop it.

 

After stopping the permanent sentance, your chat box will become normal.

 

 

 

Example:

 

Type * infront of the sentance followed by what you want to say and press enter to make that sentance permanent on top of your head.

 

Something like this "*Buying Raw Lobsters 200 coins each!" (Pressed enter), this will display "Buying Raw Lobsters 200 coins each!" on top of your head.

 

To remove the sentance just type "*" (Pressed enter) to remove that permanent sentance above your head.

 

 

 

Most of those MMORPG games have made some stuff for selling other than plain chatting.

 

So if runescape doesn't do anything about it, it may end up outdated or lousing out far behind other games when they have effective selling and buying tools.

Auto-Talkers aren't bad just because they're downloaded. They annoy people as well. Typing it in should be good enough for everyone. Its not hard, doesn't take long, and prevents spam mostly.

Exactly, and callable through a "quick phrase", which is a short bit of text set up to reference a far larger chunk. :D

Did you read what I have suggested?

 

If not let me say that again.

 

The text will stay on top of your head until you want to remove it.

 

This way it will not flood the textbox.

 

Otherwise make a shop function.

Instead of an auto-talker, why not a "tag: (something)" idea (even though it's gonna take very long to programme) where you type "tag: Selling death runes 280 ea" and the messahe "Selling death runes 280 ea" appears over your head until you type another message or type "untag"...

I don't know why this can't get into your brain.

 

I have already posted this at least 3 times.

 

I'll say it again, It's not a spam.

 

The text permanently will be on top of players head which will not be in the text box.

 

The function will be "Tag:" to have a banner on top of the player, to get it off just type "Untag:" and the banner will be gone.

 

 

 

To Winner8212: I have already said this quite alot of times. Anyway thanks for the word "tag" for the key word for using this banner.

The fact is it is against Jagex's rules to use any form of "auto" talkers/typers etc. They are all classified as macroing and this will not get implemented unless that rule is taken out.

 

 

 

Even then, if people get viruses from downloading such programs it is pure karma as they are breaking rules. I can see this getting abused and merely causing more problems that solutions. Besides with this new auction house coming up i don't think this would be required as much anymore.
