This kind of sounds like when Broad arrows came out. They were 6 GP each and better than mith arrows. Jagex upped the price to 60 within a week or two.

But most of the things people train ranged on (like rock crabs etc) have a very low ranged def in the first place. You need mith/addy arrows to balance bone bolts for damage over time, which definitely makes msb less desirable.

 

Rangers usually use fast hitting projectiles like knives/darts against monsters like rock crabs, demons or giants. I find that the max hit I'm hitting with rune arrows is the same as bone bolts from the xbow.

 

 

 

Hence why i said you needed Mith/Addy arrows to balance out the xp over time (i took the speed of the weapon into account, i never left it out)

 

 

 

I estimated that at my ranged level on yaks, i gain 36k xp an hour on bone bolts, and i get about 40k an hour with knives, But knives are more expensive, so the poorer players may opt for bone bolts instead.

I've been ranging with rune cbow and mith bolts. Wouldn't this be better than bone? I don't really care about cost since I have a ton of mith bars.

The only way that they can truely nerf it is via item not price..

 

 

 

With THAT many in circulation, look at this thread, ive bought 200k, 100k, 1 mills worth etc... Its just not going to be enough to buff the price and cut the supply, buying 50,000 at a time :( people its hurt most? Knife makers, iron knives were a cheap semi disposable weapon, i recon if this situation continues then bone bolts will easily overtake them..

 

 

 

And tbh 4 gp per for anything available in that quantity and quality is a freaking joke..

Bone bolts+c bow are equal to rune cbow, and possibly up to mith bolts, using addy, or rune for exp only, at the fastest rate possible, yes addy, or rune are better. However once you go to mith, its iffy, once you go below mith, you'd be better off using bone bolts.

Not to wield, or use the bone bolts.

 

 

 

However to buy either the cross bow, or the bone bolts you must have done 'Lost Tribe' quest, which requires 'Goblin Diplomacy'.

 

 

 

You can only use the special of the crossbow after completing 'Death to the Dorgeshuun' quest.

i just bought 12500 bolts, not to meny to loose a lot of cash like them that bought 100 of k'es of the bolts. if jagex nerf them and they WILL im not gonna loose alot of cash \

 

 

 

jagex nerf the best of the game. bone bolts are the 1 of the best trainings methods in range = it gotta get nerft at some time :x

i typically max out 24s with bone bolts. and since they fire out probably 5 to 3. bone is better.

Bought 10k Bone Bolts. Ripped through Hellhounds and Fire Giants alike with just 63 Ranged.

sadly enough, many things that Jagex intended to be used on the side of what they had already implemented were too strong, or later were buffed without a full thought-out thinking-out of the consequences. The side things that is. Like how ancients were the shizzle for teh rizzleness when it came to magic, but now for alot of people i meet, it's all about luna3rs. same with chins and bcb. Meesa wishes that the Jagexes had thoughtsted abouts the vooterans that love the items that should be better.

I am on board with the bone cbow, it is much better than msb in my opinion. Iv been at fire giants with it and its really good on them for me. I highly recomend it.

You like to use prayer while ranging? because no way you hit 25 with mith bolts at 84 range.

 

 

 

At 91 ranged, without potting and prayer my max is 23 with mith.

Yeah but look at the price comparison lol, what 130ea for mith and 4gp for bone.

I believe this topic got side tracked really fast...the point was will the bone crossbow own the magic short bow in training!

 

 

 

The literal fact is that it does beat the magic short bow..(only when your talking about relatively same priced ammo...no doubt you'll beat bone bolts if you use rune arrows but thats improbable)

 

 

 

Some people are also saying that they prefer their Rune xbow and mith bolts? Yea are you crazy...mith bolts are 150 each, you cant discuss something that expensive....even if you have the money or not. If you didn't know 150 ea for 1 piece of ammo is considered expensive... really.

I recommend everyone try the bone crossbow, it has a very nice firing speed; i can honestly compare the speed to a whip, they basically match in speed. And the bolts only cost 4 gp ea, at infinite amount. At 92 range i hit 18s on rapid, no prayer or pot, just normally; with prayer i hit 20's.

i bought 30k bone bolts just in case it is nerfed, so i hope the bow isn't the thing that gets nerfed, and they just change up the prices. my friend even bought 200k bone bolts so he could get 99 range w/o chinchompas. He even is getting 99 hunter, and refuses to use them at all.

i think its wicked awsome. i can hit 21's with full range void knight, so thats 19/20 normally. at 90 range. with no potions or prayer.

 

 

 

with prayer only i was able to hit 23.
