How soon we foget....

Featured Replies

Yes. Indeed how soon we forget.

How soon we forget that the guy over there with a steel axe was us a few montsh/years/weeks ago. Or that the guy mining copper with 30 mining and 4 lobsters in his inventory was once us.

How soon all of us foget what being a noob was. I remember when I got my combat got to level 20. I was told by my IRL friend that after level 20 I was officially "not a noob". I was ecstatic.

Then I got to 30 Combat. I laughed at those level 20 noobs. And it continued on like that.

All those level 80s claim that all those people who are only 50 combat are noobs. But they were once those level 50s being called noobs by level 80s and they didnt like it. But now they're level 80, they're not a noob anymore right?

Wrong.

Soon those level 80s will be level 100s, and laughing at the nooby level 80s, quickly forgetting that they were once those "nooby level 80s".

And we also forget how much of a thrill levelling was, no matter how low it was. Back in the day, I didn't care if it had taken me a week to get 30 Ranged. Man I felt good.

Now I have 68 Ranged. And yes, I do think 30 Ranged is a nooby Ranged level.

But how soon we forget about our old noob days. We worked for ages to get 50 Mining, the next day we forget about it because we're so focused on getting 70 Defence. One great line I've heard was "Todays milestones are tomorrows stepping stones". And they really are.

So next time you see someone you consider to be a noob, or is very excited about getting a level you know think low, think to yourself "Hey, didn't tha used to be me?"

38% of Tip.Iters put stupid made up statistics in their sigs. If you are one of the 62% that don't, put this in your sig.

I agree.

Don't judge a book by it's cover  .

And I never consider anybody a "noob" no matter how low-levelled they are. Its just unfair to make a bad assumption about somebody you don't even know just because you're better than them in terms of stats in a game.

I work as a bouncer with silverfern security but yeah in my spare time i enjoy rs, and i used to play magic the gathering so i guess i am a nerd

I miss my "noob" days. The game was more exciting, you would be exploring somewhere new with every click you took and you were amazed by what seems to be trivial things now.

When I saw a level 80 recently picking on a level 43 in Castle wars telling him to get out, using my "influence" as a level 110, I said, "He has as much of a right to be here as you" and he just stopped talking and insulting the level 43 instantly. Use your power for good!

Noob is a pathetic insult, I think if we are going to insult each other we can still think up better insults. Even idiot is a better insult that noob. To most people anyone who is a lower level than them is a noob. At the end of the day, I don't think a single person in this game has the right to call anyone a noob without first knowing them. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

The only people I ever call noob are my friends and most of my friends have played for 5 years.

For me noob, altho the same word as newb, it has never meant the same thing. It to me means stupid rather than new.

I call my friends noobs and my friends call me a noob when we do something stupid. Because we are comfortable enough to know no offence i meant. Like " I forgot my spade"-"lol noob"

Occasionally in the wild you would get someone calling you all the names under the sun, to those idiots I may have said noob once or twice, basically if you kept them ranting they usually died whilst typing, so it was purely a tactic.

Other than that, I don't/won't call anyone a noob.

I'm not the highest lvl in the world, I treat everyone equally, be you lvl 120 or lvl 3, chances are I wont talk to you ingame. However when I do talk, whatever your level I will talk to you. I find on members a lvl 120 is just as likely to be an idiot as a lvl 30, there are just more lvl 30's.

With summoning I expect alot of new level 100s sadly. Going around calling people noobs. And saying how they own in the veteran pc boat.

I have never used that term. I think perhaps novice is a better less degrading reference. I try to help these people when I can.

Someone said that if they have a lower level then they have spent less time on it than you. That isn't necessarily true. Some of these people may be skillers. They may also have a runescape hobby like collecting...cabbage.

Yea, level also seems like a sign of maturity these days. No one can comprehend the fact that there may be a 20 year old behind that level 30 account and that he has the ability to talk maturely. He'll soon level up and become a 20 year old level 100, but in that particular time he was a lvl 30.

Nooberty is a stage. Everyone goes through it.

But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Noob is an atitude wich lower levels seem to master, but those who dont know better are newbs. I use "noob" too much, way to much. Alot of people do.

Noob is an attitude not a level.

I actually think that higher levels are more the masters. They have had more time to nurture their negative attitude. That term just creates a sense of negativity. I think sometimes people forget this is just a game. When we log of we are who we are. I am not (insert word here) in real life, and I am not one in runescape. If anything that term, is nothing but a way for the children of today to show how spoiled and blind they are to the real world.

Either that or it is used by people who want to show power and prestige with pixels. It doesn't matter I won't use the word. I just won't let myself fall to the negativity.

felter_laur.png

When i started rs, i presume i was like most other people, getting combat levels up to stop "being a noob". Then i met a lvl 3 skiller at draynor willows and that changed my perspective on how i view levels. Now at the time this skiller had more exp in wc than i had in total over all my skills and this showed me that combat levels don't equal experience.

Well, gotta say that I like being 126 combat ::'

Still, I don't think I have ever seriously called someone a 'noob' in this game. And I do remember that I was like that once... I give everyone a chance as long as they don't act in a way that makes me feel otherwise.

I classify people as "noobs" based on how they type and what kind of gear they wear.

td2sig.jpg

you can't go either way, low level = noob, high level = no lifer, but yea people seem to forget that you started having no clue on what to do in RS and had to learn from mistakes.

Personally, I think there's a big difference between newbs and noobs. People get them mixed up quite often. Newbs are new players who need a little guidance along to the way to become great players in the future. Noobs are the losers who want to do nothing but beg for free stuff, never want to level up, and are a general nuisance to any society.

Air_Dragon15.png

I usually laugh at anyone who calls someone "noob" for having, literally, lower numbers than they do. Calling someone a noob is like saying "lol my number is bigger than your number! My combat number is so better than your combat number!". This game runs on a society that uses bigger numbers to express worth, or intelligence.

Noob is a pathetic insult, I think if we are going to insult each other we can still think up better insults. Even idiot is a better insult that noob.

Too bad "idiot" could be considered offensive language by Jagex! :wall:

Don't judge a book by it's cover, until they open it.

In this case, when a low-lvl player types in "phr33 st00f pl0x?" or the like.

Those are the only ppl I call noobs. Never have I called someone lower cmblvled than me a noob, not for their low lvl, but for the way they carry themselves.

I even go as far as calling 100s, 110s, and 120s noobs if they act like arses. It's only the right thing to do, besides ignoring them.

Noob is a attitude, not a level.
