I was just thinking: When you go out, do you carry any self-defence properties / or you do any martial arts that could help you to get out of being mugged?

 

 

 

Moreso, do you live in a state with a low or high crime percent?

Myself, I have a pair of brass knuckles. It wouldn't protect me from being mugged much, but I carry 'em wherever I go, mainly into school because of problematic schoolmates. Oh well :/

No, I do not. Though nobody likes to piss me off too much because they're afraid of me somewhat (no I do not make threats at school). If and when I go into High School I'll probably carry some brass knuckles, if I can find any. :roll:

Hm, I never have any item to defend myself. Central Florida doesn't have a high crime rate. Although once in a while I think about I would do if I were robbed(lol).

But no, I don't carry anything for personal defense. I'm pretty good at talking, and I'm quite sure I could talk my way out of most fights. Also, there is the issue that I'm incredibly skinny and have no muscles, so there's no realy glory in beating me ina fight.

Yes, there is such a permit. In America, at least, don;t know where you are...but yes, they exist.

 

 

 

As for me, my area has low crime overall, but not like Utopian crimeless. During the day I don;t carry anything, but at night I keep an 8 inch knife in my pocket. Otherwise it;s under my pillow.

I don't think many people here in Belgium carry weapons so there is also no need to have some to defend yourself. I've never been mugged or got into a serious fight.

 

As long as you are not alone in the middle of the night in a wrong part of a certain high criminality town (certain areas around Brussels) there is nothing to worry about...

Bleh, martial arts isn't for me [couldn't stand years of structured crap before I actually got to the real self-defense stuff], and I've gotten into basically no scraps in my life. I couldn't fight my way out of a paper bag, for thank god, rare is it that I'm going to need to.

Well round where I live (anyone here from Newcastle, NSW, Aust.? If you are, you'll know what I mean. I live in Swansea, or "Swandale" as some call it after the rattiest suburb in Newcastle, Windale. I is now dominated by a big ang of derros called 2281 (the postcode). I am sort of in with some of em so I'm good, but I'm a pretty big guy and I box, so my self-defence is my right fist and my legs (to run :D).

Martial arts are only there to give people the illusion of knowing how to defend themselves. Mostly they teach you how to save yourself against people who fight the same way you do.

Personaly no I dont. I dont get inot fights and I'd just be up [cabbage] creek without a paddel if I were caugth in school with a weapon. But I had a friend who always wore steel toed boots that looked more like hikeing sneakers (I knew him a year before I figured out they were steel toes) and would likely had kicked anyone who gave him trouble. And I used to go to a school were some people had knives (probably needed them too) but they were the type of people who mostly just bothered other people like them, so carrying a weapon woudl have made me a target.

 

 

 

I also dont go places at night alone, and I avoid areas in the city which are the rougher nehiborhoods. At home if any one tries to break in I have a steel air rifle which is always loaded with lead pointed pelets(and physicly capable as being used as a club swung from eaither end), a powerful semi-auto (one shot per triger press, no cocking) paintball gun also loaded with 20 shots which I change every couple days with ammo from the fridge (so it never loses shape). That and the house secuity has a concealed alarm which you could probably hear 5km away. My house would be the problem area anyways seeing as it bigger than any other house in the area (im in a rural place).

 

 

 

Did have some friends who tried to scare one night while I was alone. They were very brusied and very thankful I didn't call the police or use the air rifle. I am an excellent marksman and the house does have flood lights :D

Probably not best to carry a weapon. A group of attackers is bound to get it off you and it will piss them off to the extent that you'll get a beating with it.

The only "weapon" I ever carry around is a rubber band and a "wasp".

 

I have a bb gun, but I don't go strolling around town with it.

 

As for at school, not much is gonna happen to you when you go to a Catholic High School where someone got expelled for posting a stupid youtube video. Being almost 6'3" helps too.

When i carry something it's a knife.. Just a normal Mora2000. Not too [cabbage]ty, not too expensive if i had to hand it over.

I don't carry weapons, I know others to have and it is dangerous here, but I can deal with people on my own. To top that off, I don't care if I get shot, I just don't care if I die or not.

I study Tai Kwon Do, Shodokan Karate, and Goju-Ryu Karate. I don't carry around any weapons, though I do keep a pair of these in my dresser drawer, along with a 9-inch hunting knife.
