If Charms 'were' tradeable would you buy them?

Featured Replies

The reason I pose this question is like most people, I've found that obtaining the various Charms is the hardest part of summoning (at these low levels anyway!!).

I am in no sense of the word a skiller - in fact I train Slayer the vast majority of my time. I'm starting to pick up quite a few Charms from my Slaying activities & this is where I feel that Jagex could bring a bit of joy to all players by making the Charms tradeable.

This would then generate a possible 'revenue' for those only interested in the combat element of the game. In addition, it would also give the non-combatants the ability to purchase the necessary raw products (ie Charms) required to progress in the Summoning skill, thus saving them a bit of time, however costing them a bit of money.

Any thoughts?

Nope, i would rather waste 2 hours collecting them then buy em off someone for rip-off prices ::'

I'd rather buy them for a rip off price then to waste my time collecting them.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Damn straight i would

I dont see how they'd be rip off prices, they are more common then farm seeds and look at those prices.

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

same here ...I would rather collect them myself, but then again I pretty much collect everything I need myself. I think it's actually nice that there is another skill that is not completely buyable.

If the price of the shards was lower, then yes, I would buy the charms. However, this isn't the case, so if charms were tradeable, I simply wouldn't buy them. Besides, you get a good amount by simply spending time in the Brimhaven Dungeon AND it gives you a reason to train your combat.

hell yes, the fact that they almost drop one is ok, its just the 1 freaking charm per time, jagex needs to fix the drop rate and quantity of drop

They need to be tradeable AND there needs to be other ways to get them other than combat. Like thieving or clue scrolls.

Higher level monsters can drop more than 1 at a time.

Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !

Exactly my point. I don't see a reason why I would get 100m hp xp if I can get 99 summoning by staying at around 25 and wasting few hundreds of mils.

Same. Pretty damn pointless for maxed out combat players like us.

I'd sell them...

I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete.
So, what is 1.111... equal to?

10/9.

Please don't continue.

Since my original post, i've been trying to calculate some drop values.

I think I am right is saying that the drop pile shows the highest value item on the top (if not then this is a waste of time!!).

At the moment I'm Slaying Bloodvelds & they are dropping mostly Green Charms.

The Green Charm is on top of the drop pile when there is also a drop of 120 coins, however, the coins are on the top when 140gp is also dropped. I would therefore assume that if the Green Charm was to have a monetray value it is likely to be around 130gp.

This leads me onto my next point - would 130 go be enough, bearing in mind even basic creatures such as Banshee's regularly drop 13 noted Pure Ess, which in todays GE controlled marked is work c 1400 gp.

I haven't had enough drops of the other charms to calculate their potential values, but will continue to monitor.

I don't think the drop pile always shows the most expensive item on top: if you kill chickens for example, the bones always show up at the bottom, although they are worth a lot more than the chicken meat and the feathers (according to GE prices)

I'd rather buy them for a rip off price then to waste my time collecting them.

I'd have 50M xp banked or more by now to be honest. (at least 99)

And that's why they're untradeable.

If they were tradeable, yous till could get them yourself if you want to...

I really hope they become tradeable, or that Jagex makes an easier way to get them.

It's about time we had a good skill you couldn't buy with money ror no-life to 99 in a week.

It's taking me 715K to get from Level 12 to 40, and that's just with iron ore and Spirit shards.

how on Earth can 99% of RuneScape afford to train this skill beyond even a half-decent level?

This skill is only 'good' for those with netfulls of money in their pockets anyway. I can't see how making charms tradable would change that.

If they were tradable then the cost for summoning would easily double (if you bought them of course). That being said only the people with a hell of a lot of money to spare would get 99 (if they bought the charms), but would be very much faster.

i sure would

Byzantus.png

yes i would...

they shoulda made it like farming...limit the amount of experience you can gain

I'm going to reserve judgement until the end of February on this and all similar topics. Half the skill isn't out yet, and there's a few other updates and things mentioned that I believe might have something to do with summoning.

Isafdar is getting an update for Hunter, and that might have another influence. It is also possible that the spirit shards are based on a kind of crystal, possibly allowing us to make them? Pure speculation on that last part, I know.

Anyway, I still feel there's more to be explained. The charms and shards aren't given an explanation beyond 'here they are, use them to make creatures'. Where do they come from? I think Feb might let us know. We certainly need an easier way of getting charms, anyway.

And I'm all for not making charms tradeable - if they reduced the price of shards. Or let us sell charms and make shards even more expensive. Skills work best when they're expensive and quick or cheap and slow. Right now what we have is an expensive and slow skill that doesn't seem to give much reward, which currently brands it a failure in my eyes.

I certainly won't be training it for a while, anyway. But I'll still collect charms when I slay.

Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores:

Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

I think charms should stay untradeable but we should be allowed to craft gold charms. Maybe the others too except for blue since they give great experience!

It could be a combination of crafting to make them and magic to enchant them.

Dark_Jab.png

I'd definitely buy them. But with this new skill I'm happy I'm first starting to max out now :P
