Miner52289
...via a new quest or something, what do you think would happen? I do think that a Dragon Pickaxe is a little overdue, seeing as how there's already a Dragon Axe and all but what would be the in-game consequences of one? I just wonder what would happen to everything mining related. Mining Guild would probably be full most of the time, then there'd be a large supply of coal on the GE, coal prices would fall a lot, then you'd be forced to have your effort in MTK put into fish and flax. Smelting bars would cost less, steel bars and higher would be cheaper(?) and powerleveling smithing would cost less. Ummmm what else..........oh yeah, what monsters would drop Dragon Pickaxe, or would Jagex force you to buy one through a shop. How much would it cost? Personally I think it'd start out at around 2.5M or so. Your thoughts? RyderJ
We had the choice between d hatchet and pick a while back. We chose the hatchet. But that means there WILL be a pick sometime soon. I'm expecting a dwarven quest (red axe, anyone?), that has a new dungeon/boss monster. It'd act just like a D hatchet. Be very slightly faster, and you get complemented on it. Fromfirst2Last1987
seeing how ores are 1 per rock unlike trees, i dont see it lowering any prices, coal is easy to get as it is. i get coal 1 -3 hits per rock. baileydafrog
depends on the mining level needed to weild it, if it was like 70, could be a lot of people with cash trying to get quick levels for 70, i presume coal is quite fast and sellable? never really mined much other than for myself what kind of price would jagex put on the GE when it arrived? would the price just be totally ignored for junk trading? The_Avatar
It would change mining just as much as Dragon axe changed Wood Cutting, which is not at all tbh. :| And baily the Dragon Pickaxe would have a 61 mining requirement as it just falls in line with the rest of the pickaxes much like the wood cutting axe does. Lem2222
It would be good to have a dragon pickaxe. Anything that helps me do mining is appreciated. Quick Link to Lem's Blog

RyderJ
When RS got the new front page with the little icons across the top, one was a d axe, and one was a d pick, and the hatchet was better received. I don't think it was a poll... A month later, the DKs started dropping them.
ElkNight
I dont think it would affect mining very much. D axe isint that much faster then a rune one. 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers! Melos
Yeah, I don't think it would make a huge different, much like the Dragon Axe for Woodcutting... I don't think it was a poll... A month later, the DKs started dropping them. Only the Dragon Pickaxe, Dragon Two-hander, and Dragon arrows were up there. I think later they asked which dragon item we would rather have and Dragon Hatchet won. Previously known as Monkeybeast0.
Bonus
I think they shouldn't put one it. ALOT of people worked hard on getting high mining, and a dragon pick would kill all that hard work.

mchainmail
seeing how ores are 1 per rock unlike trees, i dont see it lowering any prices, coal is easy to get as it is. i get coal 1 -3 hits per rock. It could be like varrock armor and have a chance of striking a "vein" of the ore and you could recieve multiple ores.
baileydafrog
whats the regular seed or rune mining like? surely it would help with that and addy atleast
BabyPunchers
I think they shouldn't put one it. ALOT of people worked hard on getting high mining, and a dragon pick would kill all that hard work. Stupidest thing i've ever heard. Mining exp is very slow. Why? Because all they have is rune. If a d pick was released it wouldn't ruin the skill. That's like saying evolution is a bad thing. Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color] Formerly RobinHoodie. Smapla
it'd probably cause a small surge in mining, then return back to normal. not many people mine as their runescape hobby, atleast not to the degree that woodcutters do, it being a sort of social skill

Personally I think it'd start out at around 2.5M or so. Your thoughts? I'm not really following this logic. Sure, you COULD say that a pickaxe is going to make people love mining and want to mine a lot more now, but that is just completely false. Getting coal is so much easier from MTK. Why spend my time mining, when I could be doing slayer, farming, crafting, or fishing? Sure, you could get double done mining and doing MTK, but I STILL hate mining, even if there was an axe that increased my productivity by 5%. I'm not the majority of RS, but I think it would be safe to say that a lot of people would agree with me. more than likely the axe would be millions, and traded for godswords the first hours because people are idiots, it would fall to 5m, and then go down to 2.5 and gently move around that price. But, of course, this is all dependent on HOW you get the axe. If the axe is dropped like the woodcutting axe does, then the price will be a lot higher. If the axe is dropped by a new slayer monster at level 95, the price will be extremely high, but we don't know that is how it is going to be dropped. it might be gained after a quest. basically we need more information before jumping to conclusions. Latinoking
It won't change mining that dramatic. People barley notice the 15% increase in D WC. I am Teh_King[My dA][My Last.FM][My Twitter]
alcoolj
I think they shouldn't put one it. ALOT of people worked hard on getting high mining, and a dragon pick would kill all that hard work. Thats like saying that the drag axe, whip, chins, Pest Control, Pyramid Plunder, monk fishing, or ZMI shouldnt have been introduced because they made the existing 99s less valued. The game has changed, and will continue to change. You dont want better weapons etc because it will speed up your training, or make boss monsters available at an earlier level? Gimme a break. Fromfirst2Last1987
Now thats an idea worth while. because 1 ore per rock wont speed anything up with a d pick axe, it would be more a statis symbol seeing how ores are 1 per rock unlike trees, i dont see it lowering any prices, coal is easy to get as it is. i get coal 1 -3 hits per rock. It could be like varrock armor and have a chance of striking a "vein" of the ore and you could recieve multiple ores.
