Breastfeeding

And to be quite frank with anyone who has a problem with it, don't be coming near me anytime soon because if my son is hungry, there's going to be boobs in your face!!

About what time does your son normally get hungry?

Screw you guys, any chick who randomly decides to whip out a [bleep] is OK in my book.

A wise man once sung:

"Don't be sad

Your boobs ain't bad

They're just a little long!"

Ok, if you're gonna play the "Double natural" card, we'll break it down a little further. Breastfeeding is a more natural instinct than intelligent thought and forming your own opinions. Look at most mammals, which react using the most basic form of thought, instinct. That instinct is to breastfeed their pups/kids/whatever.

So if we're going by naturality, breastfeeding is more natural than thought, seeing as it stems from the most basic form of thought, instinct.

Though I don't really think the boat was a literal conception.

But humans have bottles, animals don't. Thats the difference.

This has already been addressed, look a few pages or so back.

A lot of the argument seems to imply that the woman who is breastfeeding is sitting at the same booth/table as the uncomfortable one, which really would make it difficult to ignore. Another table at the restaurant, though, and you can easily ignore it.

Breastfeeding is completely, 100% natural. I think it's just completely natural and fair for women to breastfeed in public places. People are supposed to just look away.

And I find that the bottle argument is completely irrelevant.

I find the fact that it's natural completely irrelevant. There are many things that are natural, but that doesn't mean we should do all of them. Being natural is not a justification. If it was, having sex in public would be legal.

To Goddess: After you see it once, you can't unsee it. Sure, you could look away, but you'll still know it is happening really close to you when you're trying to eat. So it all comes down to who should leave - the mother or the offended person. Of course you'll say the offended person, and I'll say the mother.

Fair point as long as you don't fart while you're eating or we'll both have to leave

Just kidding but on a serious note I have to go, funnily enough my friend Tamara is over with her new born (1 week old) and is breastfeeding as I'm eating my lunch. Chips still taste like chips to me so I guess I'm lucky :P She's a giant 9 1/2 pound baby too!

Awww no one commented on the 8 year old still being breastfed video I posted. So I will just say what everyone else would.

First off, it's really disturbing if the kid can ASK for boobies. Second, the mom says it will raise their IQ, but I'm pretty sure it stops raising IQ after a certain age (a young one). Also that mom says in one part "Once they get out into that big bad world there is no safe haven like your mother's breasts". Being immature that made me laugh. Hard.

Those girls draw pictures of boobs too. I bet at school they draw them. How wierd, if the girls were boys and they drew boobs everyone would think they were sick pervs who were going to grow up t be peds/rapists. But since they are girls the mom thinks it's cute. Since they draw boobs that means breasts are ALWAYS on their mind, and to a regular 8 year old girl, that would be one of the last things on their mind.

The dad thinks it is perfectly fine too. What a messed up family. Those girls are going to be lesbians.\

Here is the disturbing (yet hilarious) video again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxv6R9fUO74

Another thing, I ssaw this on T.V. The girls for some reason thought that once they developed their own they could suck their own (ROFLCOPTER), and at the end of the show...the oldest daughter's jaw grows, disabling her suckling. PWNED.

i would put it in my siggy but meh, and why does everyone think i am a troll?

what is a troll?

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Most of your posts are like that.

Anyway on topic, so far it's been the women don't think they need to cover up because it's natural etc and their precious little angels need food right away or they die and it's the only source of food, and the men think that it's not proper etiquette and can be unappetizing, and should be done in private/covered up. Can we get some new material?

(not sure if this post was deleted or if it didn't go through, power went out a few mins ago)

Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....

Maybe they should make a new rule at restaurants. They banned smoking from some places, but banning breastfeeding sounds a bit too harsh. I suggest that if the person seating people in a restaurant sees a woman with a young baby and suspects she might feed during her stay, then that person should take her party to a secluded table in a corner somewhere so she can face the wall while feeding. It would cut down on a lot of disturbances - after all, the thread maker did say that the lady was right in front of him. I doubt he would see if she was feeding in a far corner.

You make it sound like it's degrading or something. What purpose can a secluded table fulfill? Well, it enables the party to have some privacy. If no one can see the mother's breasts and she still sits at a seat that normal people would sit in anyways, I don't see a single problem at all.

I can see it now; "breastfeeding, or non?". A fairly decent idea, but needs modification. Get rid of the "smoking" sections and yea, put in "breastfeeding" sections. That way you have a choice if you don't like it.

Face the wall to eat your dinner and give me some privacy. You can't see me feeding my child then and I don't see a single problem with it at all.

On topic... I dont care if it's natural if it is why can't I have sex in front of little kids, it's natural

This has already been answered if you took your own advice and learned how to read.

The thing is, how do you expect the seaters to predict the future? It's easy to tell if there is a possibility of breastfeeding because you will see a mother and her young baby enter the restaurant. However, it is not possible to tell if someone will get a bad reaction from it unless you ask every single person, "Do you mind seeing breastfeeding?"

This all boils down to, "You shouldn't feel this way about breastfeeding - it's not nasty." That's highly opinionated though. That's like me saying, "You shouldn't feel that sex is nasty therefore public sex should be legal."

The fact that it's illegal is not an answer though. We know it's illegal. We are pointing out an analogy.

Breastfeeding = Legal (because->) natural

Then that should mean:

Sex = Legal (because-->) natural

But we all know things aren't like that. That's why we're pointing it out.

you all seem to not understand the power of a shawl...

you're all going on and off and on and off and 3 pages back i provided an answer that works for both parties

That would only work if mothers were required to wear them in restaurants.

Honestly I have no problem with breastfeeding. I'd rather her breastfeed than listen to a crying baby until they leave/get asked to leave/or she goes to the bathroom to feed.

It's honestly natural and more healthy then using formula which can contain iron in it, which causes constapation on a babys' part.

It's a restaurant, it's pretty freakin obvious that people are going to eat, a hell of a lot easier to tell than the possibility of breastfeeding. Was it worth making an argument for that? lol

Speaking of "highly opinionated" A few days ago you and I agreed to different views and dropped the subject. Then a few days later you came to express the very same ones and started the whole debate again. Very hypocritical for someone preaching "social etiquette" as his main argument. What you're so highly fighting to prove and what you do are two totally different things.

But we all know things aren't like that. That's why we're pointing it out.

No offense but I'm not going to pay great amounts of attention to 2 board trolls who follow you around like a bad smell to agree with you.
