July 27, 200817 yr I absolutly hate it when people complain about movies , ESPECIALLY movies like Superhero flicks and the like, lacking realism. This movie wasn't made to be real. It's a got man dressed like a bat beating up criminals, a guy with half his face burnt off but still alive (though this would be possible in real life, you get my point), and a psycho dressed like a clown mass-murdering people. And people are complianing about the cellphone stuff? Seriously? Just take it for what it is, a FICTIONAL movie. Sure, the movie had a real tone to it, but not striaght up realism. You wanna see a movie that has realism, go see a documentary or a biography. You shouldn't have even thought about realism walking into a Batman movie. :| I don't expect it to be completely realistic, that would be stupid. I realise it's a superhero movie, so I'm not going to start complaining about how Batman has ridiculously accurate timing. [hide=Example]Batman driving his batmobile in the way of the rocket in the big chase scene.[/hide] But things like the whole cellphone thing just made the movie seem cheap, like they couldn't think of a realistic way to do it so they took the easy way out. It might just be me though. The presence of realism in any movie makes it a more enjoyable movie for me. Similarly with games. I don't enjoy playing games where you can get shot 300 times from 5 meters away and still be alive--it cheapens it. I don't know, I have the feeling that some of you complaining about it just are doing so due to it being hyped. As far as the technology, well, he's the batman. His "superpower", esentially, is the fact that he has a [bleep] ton of money and can buy whatever he wants. Yeah the technology was unrealistic but it didn't detract from the message or the movie IMO. I'll agree with the first statement for the most part. I think that is a contributing facotr for most people, but it wasn't for me. But then again, I'm not one of the people syaing the movie was horrible--I loved it. I just thought certain elements cheapened it. Again, I'm fine with him having a hell of a lot of money and awesome gadgets. The thing thjat annoyed me about the cellphone thing was how he did it in such a short period of time--and even moreso that it wasn't explained to us at all (unless I just blanked out for a few minutes). Cool.

Bruce opened up a telecomm division that dealt with cell phones. Fox asked him about it at one point. It was foreshadowing for later when we saw the cell phone sonar machine.

You can ignore my rant about the phones now. :) Cool.
July 27, 200817 yr Yeah the cellphone thing was a "little" stretched but they did explain it as Indy said. :P Not any less realistic then Iron Mans suit. :D
July 28, 200817 yr Haha. This movie is number one on the IMDB list. Not that people should take that list too serious, but this really does it. :P I will be going next friday. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
July 28, 200817 yr The movie dragged on a bit too long than I liked, but it was a really good movie  It's not the #1 movie of all time like everyoe else claims, but it's one of the best comic book movies so far. What I got from the movie though is that I can NOT wait for the next one! The ending gave me goosebumps all over :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
July 28, 200817 yr I'm going to see it again today. I'm going to try to notice some minor things that I didn't notice before. It should be interesting.
July 28, 200817 yr http://www.variety.com/article/VR111798 ... id=13&cs=1 Combined with its record-setting domestic take, worldwide gross has already hit $440 million in a dozen days. . It may actually beat titanic as the highest grossing film ($600m for titanic).
July 28, 200817 yr i'm looking forward to the next movie :D (come on we all know there going to make nr.3) My private chat is always ON.Winner of The Tip.It Teamcape Outfit Contest!6 years. 1 dragon CS drop and some barrows, bad luck?

Yeah I went ape-[cabbage] about that on page 3, it was #4 on the list with just the reviews from advanced screenings and midnight screenings the Friday it was out. Crazy.

Amazing movies only come along every so often, and The Dark Knight sadly is not even CLOSE to an amazing movie. Good? Yes. Amazing? No. What? It's far from simple. Just because the movie lacks realism doesn't mean it can't be amazing. Look at not just this movie, but Star Wars, Harry potter, Toy Story, etc. I don't see what you're getting at besides a movie has to not stray from our reality to be amazing.

Look at not just this movie, but Star Wars, Harry potter, Toy Story, etc. I don't see what you're getting at besides a movie has to not stray from our reality to be amazing. I can kind of see where he's coming from though. There is a difference between a purely fictional movie and an almost pure realistic movie. I mean movies like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Toy Story, etc. are not meant to be realistic AT ALL. They do not deal with real life issues and are not set in a real environment. Batman, on the other hand, almost does seem realistic. It takes place in a world similar to our own where there is crime, maniacs and technology. Because of that, the movie is almost believeable. But then you get to the cell phone part which kind of throws everything out of wack and all of a sudden you're thinking, "That would never happen..." I don't have a problem with the cell phone part, but I'm sure that's how the people who didn't like it see it as. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

July 29, 200817 yr I never complained about the cell phone part, I just didn't think the movie was as good as people are making it out to be. Everyone's messin' their pants and I'm thinking it's just another average 7/10 superhero movie. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."
July 29, 200817 yr I saw it today. Overall it was a really enjoyable movie. I was a bit worried about the hype surrounding Heath Ledger's performance but in all honesty he had me sold. His mannerisms and acting as the joker were a true highlight of the film.
July 29, 200817 yr i liked it, christian bale and heath were sick. [Admin Edit: Attempting to publicly humiliate a user in your signature is inappropriate] Quit Runescape... Dec 2001 - Jan 2008 on and off... mostly off.
July 30, 200817 yr Dude. I love Heath Ledger's joker. Seriously. He was not funny. He was psychotic. He was freaking crazy. His final performance is breath-taking. At least, I thought it was. Srsly. I give this movie a 10/10. It was firggin awesome.
July 30, 200817 yr I guess Warner is making up for the flop that was called Speed Racer. :lol:Speed Racer was always going to fail, really didn't matter who made it...
July 30, 200817 yr I'm not really speaking quality wise; I haven't seen the movie. But it cost about 120.000.000 to make, and it cost 80 million to market. And in total it didn't even bring up 100.000.000. : Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
July 30, 200817 yr That's kind of my point; the story itself isn't exactly one that'll bring in a crowd large enough to cover it's expenses to make and market :P
July 30, 200817 yr I'm not going to watch it because I wouldn't want to see one of the best actors in the world in a movie if he passed away after the movie was made. It's not only surreal, but the movie itself is dark and disturbing enough, factor in a great actor that lost his life... it's not a movie i'm going to go and see, ever. :?

It's easily the best role he has ever done, and if you enjoyed him as an actor you really do owe yourself to watch TDK.
