"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Featured Replies

The same girl whom I am not interested in/do not find attractive came up to me today, gave me her number AGAIN, and said, "Call me tonight at 6:30".

I'm trapped between calling her and not calling her.

What should I do?

Call her and tell her you're not interested.

  • Obviously you ask her to come with you. Drive with her to the steepest mountain. Put her in the backpack and spend a week climbing the mountain. You will drink the rain and you will eat like a bear. B

Huh? Answered your own question man.

If you still do, I hope it's only to tell her you aren't interested.

:P Mmkay. You all probably remember me. I'm the girl who wants a boyfriend and is desperate enough to come ask you. My situation has changed a bit and I shall now elaborate.

Homecoming was last Saturday. The guy I like broke up with his former girlfriend over the summer sometime, but really didn't want to go to homecoming with anybody. He didn't [but he went to homecoming]. I would like to ask him to go to Swirl (spring dance) with me, but that's not until March-ish. Plus, we're both on Student Council, and student council puts on all the dances but Homecoming/Prom. Swirl is the next 'formal' so y'know you actually get a date for that. I haven't gone to any formals before (I'm a junior) /random fact. Thing is, there's a girl who likes him (at least I think) that he sometimes gives a ride to school/zero hour jazz band (that I'm also in) and I dunno how he feels about her. I'm pretty sure if she asked he'd go out with her, he doesn't like making people not happy. She's kind of a guy-mongerer (? I want to say [bleep] but not really but sort of ?) and has had a relationship with one of my other friends before. I'm still friends with the two girls he's dated before, he's friends with one of them (I'm sure after a while he'll be friends with the newest 'ex' too though.)

So yeah. I dunno if you can give me any advice on this (or what do I even want? :S ). I have lunch with him once out of every three days. And zero hour jazz band and student council. (

you're friends with his ex's? thats a little weird. Ask him yourself. I love it when girls do that. Makes life so much easier.

Couldn't agree more. It's hard for guys to ask out girls. If you think you don't know anything as a girl, try figuring [cabbage] out as a guy. Good lord.

My girlfriend is (pretty much) always stressed, and in the past week she's had two panic attacks. Prior to these she's never had them. I went to the clinic with her last night and her doctor prescribed Ativan. He said she should slide one under her tongue if she feels like she might have an attack, but her mom told her to take one this morning before school, and at 11 (The doc said don't take more than one every 6 hours)... Her mom thinks that she is supposed to be on them all day... I looked up Ativan addiction and it seems like a lot of people get addicted to it. I'm worried that she'll take one whenever she feels too stressed, but over-do it. I'm worried...

She's taking her mom's medical advice over an actual doctor's?

Yes... I think because she gets so unhappy sometimes she'll abuse the drug. Tomorrow I'm gonna call her mom while she (GF) isn't home and talk to her about it... We have third class together and she was on it, and she was out of it... She completely ignored me and barely said two words. I hate it already.

Yeah talk to the mom, and tell your girlfriend she should be listening to her doctor's medical advice over her mothers. Especially with a medication that's addicting.

Yeah... I just talked to my GF on the phone and she said her mom's gone to bring the pills back and get less of them. She didn't really explain why, but...

I would much rather have that, yeah, but... they're for stress, and they are helping her I guess. She isn't using abusing them yet, I'm just worried she might.

Yes, as you said they are apparently addictive. At least you can sort of speak to her mum about it, maybe you will need to explain you pov to your GF.

Hmmm, I think instead of just reading this topic and just trying to pick on and off advice from already asked questions, I think it's time I posted something proper.

Okay basically, I went to this carnival/fair with my friends, and they brought some of their friends along. Long story short, me and this girl got chatting, and I think we're getting pretty close, the trouble is she lives in a village/town which is like thirty minutes away from me, so most of our interaction is via MSN. I've only known her for like 3 - 4 days, and I am starting to like her slightly. I am unsure if she likes me the same way, I know she is single. We've been on and off flirting, with subtle hints of inneundos, and she said we should have study sessions together, cause we study similar subjects, when we flirt she always ends it with a ";)". Today, when talking we decided to for cyber roleplay, no adult things, we went cyber drinking in a bar, haha, don't judge me, and after saying we should leave cause I wouldn't want to get cyber drunk and... Well you know. Also she wants to meet up again and go to the cinema, the only thing is I implied I wanted a kiss once, and she said "maybe just a pat on the head is better". So I'm unsure if she actually likes me.

Any advice?

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

I hate this so much... This last week has been so hard... My girlfriend's panic attacks have kept me worried every second of every day. I have no energy... I try so hard to make it easier for her but somehow I screw up every time and make things so much worse. On the phone like 30 minutes ago I tried to tell her that I just wanna help and she got mad at me, so I got pissed and told her she's not the only one that's stressed and maybe it's not working... apparently she had a panic attack and took another stupid pill. I lost control after I found out I caused another attack and I think I had one myself...

I started shaking, my eyes got all watery (not crying, it was more like getting hit in the nose), both my arms went completely numb and I was breathing extremely fast and I couldn't control anything I was doing. I blacked out for a second too... my heart is still beating way too fast. I'm not gonna tell her this... she called me 10 minutes ago (high on those pills) and pretty much told me she didn't really care about anything and wanted to go sleep. I tried to tell her I was angry and so sorry, but she didn't care so I told her I'd talk to her tomorrow.

I can't stand this anymore. Yesterday when I went to the clinic with her, her best friend was telling me how great it was that I care about her so much, and it made me feel great. It was the first time I felt happy in a long time... I love my girlfriend to death, but wtf do I do...

I'm still really shaky so I bet none of this makes sense...

Do what she wants. Panic attacks aren't fun, my girlfriend used to have them. Don't make her feel as if she has to deal with you as well (even though you're just trying to help) Give her space.

Also, make sure she's getting help, if she needs to take pills, she needs help.

Over prescription much? Two panic attacks and she's on drugs already? I would have tried to deal with it without the drugs first, have a couple of days off school, relax at home, or go somewhere quiet.

Best way to find out is to go on that "date" and try it out. you've only known her for a few days, it's not like you'll be missing out on a huge long friendship if it gets awkward. And she shouldn't be dropping hints like that if she didn't want you to atleast try. So go out, take her out, and make a move. See what happens. Good luck.

dude...mood "neutralizing" pills are the worst. I honestly think they're what made my ex [yes the nuts one] go crazy in the first place. Those types of pills really aren't meant for everyone, and obviously her reaction to these chemical imbalances are non favorable. Get her off those things, and try a different panic attack reliever pill immediately. I'd even go a step further, get her into a stress management class and take away any form of outside substance. teenage girls have screwy hormones as it is...throwing pills in the mix makes things so much worse. I have no idea why doctors think it helps. In the mean time, just take deep breaths and don't let her stress you out, as it seems is already happening [you seriously blacked out? that's rough]. but this is the kind of stress that will mutilate your relationship if its not handled properly. Take whatever bull crap she throws at you for now, and get her away from her medication. It's not a road full of sunshine and lollipops, but hopefully you'll see the end of it before she's permanently over-stressed.

This. I was having 2 panic attacks a day for weeks and I refused to go on medication because of all the negative effects. Medication can make the situation worse in the long term.

In my experience, talking to her about it when she doesn't want to and forcing the issue/adding more stress to it makes it worse. The bigger deal you make of it, the bigger deal it becomes. Be empathetic, but don't let her know that you're freaking out about it.

Tell her to research it as much as possible. Read over the information over and over so the correct part of her brain can pick it up. It was one of the things that helped reduce my attacks drastically.

Go to the cinema, and be yourself. If she has dropped hints (like RpgGamer) said, it's worth having a try.

So... that girl I was crushing on. Started to get to know her last week. Now she likes me and I heard via friends that she wants to go to homecoming with me. I feel accomplished ;) But moving on, never really got farther then this with girls in my life, so I think I'm gonna try to set up a date with her and then see about homecoming ( its in 2 weeks I think). :D
