Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer!! .:UPDATE!:.

Featured Replies

Yeah it really sucks.. And the directors keep changing aspects of the movie to create all kinds of inconsistencies. They completely changed Dumbledore's entire style, they redesigned the dementors for the worse, etc. They made all sorts of unnecessary changes. You cannot make the dementors one way in the third movie and completely redesign them for the fifth

I think the worst offense was the third movie in general. Cuaron completely redesigned Hogwarts, Gambon had a totally different way of portraying Dumbledore, hell even Tom the landlord wasn't spared. He ended up as some mentally handicapped hunchback :|

At least the next two movies could have followed his example, but they had to go and screw it up even more. Although the Patronuses were horrible in PoA, they definitely needed a makeover if the story was going to work at all.

The sad thing is, I actually liked PoA a lot despite the major screwups.

Had to because the Dumbledore who was in the first two movies died. But then again I can see what you're saying...they could have made the new Dumbledore similar to the old instead of being totally different. Still, I think the one now is just fine.

Wow I'm actually impressed. It looks pretty good. But I don't think I'll get my hopes too high because I don't want to be disappointed. In my opinion, the movies have only been decreasing in quality, but hopefully this one will break the trend.

Warner Bros keeps changing the directors too damn much. Some of them have an artistic style that should have nothing to do with Harry Potter, and they ruin it. I don't know why some of the directors were hired, WB must have horrible taste sometimes...

Not a hardcore Harry Potter/fantasy fan  But since I got the books as presents over years from younger cousins.. I read them for fun. It's not childish at all, it's a very sophisticated fantasy series.

Trailer looks pretty cool. Anyone remember what Dumbledore is doing in the fire? I don't remember that part.

I agree that it was a good idea to split the last book into two movies. If they hadn't, they would have had to skip so much. (or made the movie 6-7 hours long...)

that bit would be just after they get the fake locket in the cave and that's to ward off the infuri or whatever they be. animated dead corpses

Oh, right! How could I forget that scene!

Hardly.. there is no need to be a jerk and to try and ruin it for people who have not read the book.

I used to like Harry Potter a lot, then I found the real fantasy (Epic/high fantasy...Like Lord of the Rings) and completely forgot about it. Kind of. I read the fifth, sixth and seventh ones on the day they came out, speeding through them...So I can't remember what happened. I know the big ending, I remember that Slug guy, and of course the Half-Blood Prince part...I should probably go read a summary. I had no idea what was happening in half the trailer.

I hope they have the "Why are you worrying about You-know-who? You should be worrying about you no poo!" part.

Looks good enough, I'll probably see it. And yea, Dumbledore + Fire = Gandalf falling in Moria... (It actually kind of looks like as if they stole a clip out of LotR :? )

JK Rowling pretty much stole Dumbledore from Tolkien anyway

Did she take a dump in your cheerios or something? You sure seem to have a lot of pent-up emotions against this book series.

If you ever wanna talk about it we are here for you man.

The kids who plays Tom Riddle annoys me, for some reason. Though it looks alright. Hopefully they can lift their game.

I was thinking that too; I had an impression of someone who came across as a lot of ... isolated. He didn't pass on the attitude you get from Tom in the books.

Actually, he comes back to life in the next chapter. Guess you stopped reading halfway through.

But let's not derail this topic, this topic is about saying how much you hate Harry Potter while the rest of us tend to foolishly go off topic in discussing the trailer.

that trailer wasnt exciting at all.

anyway, the first three movies were very well made and followed the books exactly.

from the fourth one on i mainly only watched them for the sake of finishing the series. the new actor that plays dumbledore is horrible in comparison to the old one (forgot his name).

I agree. The first Dumbledore's death was a terrible loss, but they could have at least found a similar actor, kept the same wardrobe and personality. But they morphed him completely :wall: The first Dumbledore was exactly how he should be: a clever, wise, humerous old man. This new actor seems so... remorse, cynical and unfriendly.

Right before you clean her up with your tongue.

I have all the books except for Halfblood Prince. I finished reading the Deathly Hallows before most of you even got a hold of it. The series is good, but if you think she didn't imitate Tolkien, you probably never read his work.

edit: "imitate" might be a too strong of a word ... maybe "inspired" would fit better

So me not liking the movies equals me hating Harry Potter? Rhodes Scholar right here folks.

Meh, I loved the books, but the fifth film was really annoying. Huge plot-holes! I don't see how someone who hasn't read the books could actually follow... and the revelations in the next films will seem totally deus-ex-machina to them, since they've forgotten to put in a lot of stuff in the films that became important later on in the books. That's what you get from not being able to wait until the whole series is published before you start filming and having a different director every time. The movies really are about the money.

And they never have enough Snape in them. We see too much of the kiddies, far too little of the far more interesting adult characters.

And that's the end of my whining. I'll still go and see the film, because I loved the books so much.

Well, basically all modern fantasy is somehow based off of Tolkien. I'm not saying Tolkien wrote the first fantasy, but Lord of the Rings is the base for a lot of things.

And some of you need to wake up. A lot of people hate Harry Potter. Some hate the movies because they're pretty different from the books (Purists), some hate the series in general because the story sucks, some hate the books because they're lazy and don't want to read them.

This i kind of agree with. The least they could've done is stuck to the same director. Plot holes are to be expected with book->movie transitions, even within single movies you'll find the odd plot hole.. so.. *shrug* Anyhow, definately missed important details in the 5th movie. And to think they also wanted to dump Kretcher too, good on them there.

Actually looks pretty good. Maybe I'll go see this one in the movies.

I still say the books are a lot better though :]

Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.

yay a new movie! i never read the books because it ruins the movie

Really? I thought the movie was the exact opposite, it had all the improtant plot parts and was my favorite movie. The Prisoner Of Azakaban had lots of plot-holes and in the Goblet Of Fire they took out a lot of the good parts of the book.

It is always nice to see how they adapted the book, I will definitely watch this when it comes to the cinema.

Wow, cannot wait. Been looking forward for this for ages now and to think only 2 more films after this one. It will be great.

Might try and see if I can go to the London premier party thing to see if I can see any of the stars.

Did someone say they took out Kreacher though? :o Going to have to change alot of things about the Blacks house then and I was looking forward to what happens in the final book with him.
