I wasn't planning on running an extra 5 miles yesterday, but it was nice out and my body felt good, but had I stayed more on the route I originally planned I knew where a water fountain was about a 1.5 before the Coffee Bean. If I had passed out somewhere and had to be taken to a hospital, I would probably have found a way to get Coffee Bean to cover the medical expenses, whatever they'd have been. 

I don't see how you could get the coffee shop to cover your expenses. They're a private business and they're allowed to serve who they want.

They are, but if Steve can prove he was dehydrated and they denied him just a glass of water, which he would have paid for (presumably) then they have some fault in his condition. 

 

Leaving that aside, runner comes into store for drink and then passes out blocks away after being thrown out isn't exactly good PR.

Exactly, it'd be a horrible PR disaster. I'm just glad I made it home alright and this is now all hypothetical.

But if I were to change my citizenship I'd need some seriously valid reasons for it. Simply for the heck of it, no bloody way. And that $20k is only rent for like max 2-3 years at your American prices.
