Alg
Nowhere else on the planet you have such cold, inhospitable, quiet, sarcastic, grumpy and depressed people all the time.I thought this was also the stereotype for large parts of northern Europe (Finland, especially, if SATW is to be believed), and probably a few bits of Canada. Hedgehog
Hmmm. Now that's tempting...But if I were to change my citizenship I'd need some seriously valid reasons for it. Simply for the heck of it, no bloody way. And that $20k is only rent for like max 2-3 years at your American prices.I am proud to be Estonian. I can't imagine my life anywhere else. Sbrideau
First snow of the year here which is very late compared to usual. 15cm down so far and it's still snowing.
obfuscator
I'm all for being patriotic, but mindlessly bashing a steroetype of another country's citizens when you probably haven't spent more than a week there is pretty idiotic. I've spent probably six months in the states, and I like it a lot. I'd never move there (I love Canada too much), but if I moved anywhere, it would probably be there. Tim
Just spending more then a week here in Australia and you'd understand why I hate it too :P Got a call from work, they said they're just waiting for my details to come up in the system so they can get my employee ID sorted and then I start. Plus I got x2 dress pants and some black leather shoes worth ~350 for zilch. Thank you unemployment system, you're finally doing something useful. Riku3220
It's warm during Christmas so Australia can't be too bad. Do Australians enjoy the same Christmas movies and music that we do or do they have their own versions? Does Santa still wear a big red coat when he's giving gifts in the southern hemisphere? I'd imagine that songs about snow and cold would be extremely out of place.
RpgGamer
Booze and tattoo convention was totally worth the trip. The sideshows were amazing, i took pictures with another porn actress and o saw some very attractive people. The booze was hella expensive though. Tim
If you're straight, plenty of boobs to peep at on the beach. If you're gay .... plenty of dicks to peep at on the beach. And yeah, Santas' still dress up in the big suit, same songs etc, though there's more bogans these days then santas wearing just a hat+beard with a bottle of beer in one hand and wearing thongs (flip-flops) and board shorts. 1 Popoto.~<

Estonian dude
FYI, been to the states for more than a week.2 weeks to be exact :twss: The weather was mighty fine around the southern parts that I visited. But my biggest gripe about the states was that everything I saw was superficial. Also, you have too much people. And I prefer my free and pretty excellent public healthcare. Arceus
True, health care is so expensive. Hopefully that will get a little better in the coming years though. Arceus
Also, you have too much people.Estonia population desnity / km^2: 29United States: 32 You're right, the US is absolutely packed. Alg
Who cares about population if you never see, interact with, or come remotely close to 95% of them? The only indication I have ever had that America has a lot of people is that I can read wikipedia well enough to know those figures.Another thing that depends on where you are though. I've found that the area around San Francisco is somewhat packed, while a friend who lives in the south scoffed at the idea of having neighbors, for instance. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
Estonian dude
The thing about states is that the empty areas are desolate and huge. Alaska is pretty barren. The Rockies.Where you do have people, you have too many of them.In here, we have 1 city and the main towns have around 10k inhabitants. And people know pretty much everyone around their age in these towns. I do know what is capitalism. But I think that sole capitalism doesn't work. Some things should be left for public service, like healthcare, infrastructure, some sort of public media for public announcements, law and order, emergency services and so on.Fun thing about my country - through at most 10 people I know pretty much everyone in this country. Because we are so small, we keep together.Canada, for example, has Estonian College and banks and newspapers maintained by people who had to leave during World War 2.
