Yeah we had a few drops of rain last night too.

Got snow here now. Probably won't stick around though.

"It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti

Ugh, woke up around 5:00 am. Went to bed around midnight, and as usual, took some time to fall asleep. Maybe four hours of sleep, if that. Horrible, exhausting dreams... There's a type of dreams I have that are completely surreal, like thoughts without content. There's little imagery or detail and rarely are there any interactions or events--simply thinking. Some of them involve pseudo-mathematical concepts that are not only wrong but make no sense whatsoever. Others involve a hodgepodge of concepts... Last night I had one that can be only described as installing politicians and other government officials via source control. It's still better than nightmares, I suppose!

I spent the morning prepping to work on the vector graphics library. Mostly sketching the "native API" shim I'd expose (Rust can emit functions compatible with calling conventions used by C compilers, and in turn can be embedded in any C-compatible environment... just about everything!). I took a closer look at triangulation libraries I've collected and I think I'll port this nifty project to Rust. Funnily enough, it's based on the SGI implementation of the GLU tessellator. Looks solid and the code is much easier to follow than SGI's implementation (C written in the 90s with minimal documentation is very hard to grok, to put it lightly).

Proper polygon triangulation, especially if the polygons are self-intersecting or concave, is incredibly complex. There are so many corner cases that crop up due to computational inaccuracy and other quirks. However, the rendering method I'm implementing makes using an existing triangulator relatively painless, which is good. My only issue I can think of would be a self-intersecting polygon with a non-solid (e.g., gradient) fill--it could cause discrepancies if the exterior curves overlap. But this corner case still has an easy (and moderately fast) solution if I explicitly separate drawing such niche paths into a masking step and a paint step. This solution is already used for standard clipping, anyway!

May head to bed soon as well. It's only 11:00 am, but I'm getting tired real fast. I perform poorly when tired, often screwing everything up, so it's better to avoid that. :P

Spent yesterday working on the computer. I upgraded to Windows 10 and then reformatted the computer. Everything was working well until I ran a 4 way optimization program that was with my motherboard. It optimized the fans first, then it went to the CPU and it went all downhill from there. I kept on getting a error named 'whea_uncorrectable_error'. From what I can tell the program started to over or underclock the CPU (im guessing over but to be honest I do not know). Anytime I'd try to do a system restore about 5 mins in the error message would pop again. Eventually it would happen anytime the computer would boot out of BiOS. I had to take the battery out of the MoBO and reset the settings back to factory specs. After that it's been working great. System boots so much faster than before and runs a lot smoother. I've had 7 since it first came out but from what I can tell 10 is better :)

Also ran a speed test, very excited about the results:

I finally got the keys to my new place today. I'm moving most of the stuff over tomorrow morning and the bed arrives on Sunday, so Sunday night will be my offical move-in. I'll be broke as F' for the fortnight but at least all my initial bills are paid and my mental state will finally improve.

Drainage in this country is so bad. It rained a bit last night and today and as a result so many of the roads are flooded. Had to take a cab home cause my car's too low. I really hate rain season.

One of my outlets has sparks coming out of it but my complex's office is closed for the night and all of tomorrow and Friday because of Thanksgiving. Which means I get to go 2+ days of hoping that my apartment doesn't burn down!

Do you have breakers? You could turn one off and move the stuff you need to other outlets?

Drinking alone continues to be frightening and depressing. Happy Thanksgiving, Americans.

No bloody idea of how Thanksgiving really looks like over at your side.

In other news, yesterday got confirmation that I get plane tickets for free to go to Toronto next June. Which means I quite certainly will go.

In fact, our whole choir got the tickets and we will do 3 performances, afaik. Gonna be an epic trip.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

I've always wanted to do a thanksgiving dinner here, even though we dont celebrate it in AU.

Popoto.~<3

I made some preparations for Thanksgiving yesterday. Made cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, and mac & cheese. Funnily enough, I didn't plan mac & cheese, but when I was making yesterday's dinner (mac & cheese with beef), I decided to make slightly more and reserve half for Thanksgiving.

I'm about to get the turkey breast in the slow-cooker. Will take upwards of 8 hours, so it should be done around... 4:00 pm EST. Going to make green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and roasted broccoli, as well, but that's all pretty easy and will only take about 2 hours total, most of which will be spent doodling around while the food bakes, har.

I'm expecting there to be at least two days of leftovers. Upwards of four is likely...

ozXHe7P.png

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I'm just hanging out here by myself. I don't have any turkey...

Saw pictures and videos of the "flooding" going on in Qatar. It's actually kinda hilarious. It barely rained enough to fill a cup of water, yet there are dams of stagnant water all over the country. Some of the schools even had to close for today because kids couldn't get there due to roads being flooded. Our $15b airport apparently also had parts where the floors were flooded, because water was leaking through the roof. Just up the road from my house the road is completely flooded. Can't use it with my car, and that's the only road in and out. So i'm pretty much stranded for a few days.

There's a breaker box in my apartment but it's bolted shut. I could remove and replace the outlet myself but I can't do that with the electricity still on.

Michelle and I had our thanksgiving yesterday. Went home and spent the day with our parents. Good times. We both work today at Wal-mart so if guys do not hear from me after this...you know why.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I read most of this in Obama's voice

Store didn't have Fallout 4 nor Tomb Raider :s Virgin Megastore probably has it, but they're not within walking distance so i couldn't check there. Settled with Black Ops 3 for now (until my car's able to navigate these damn roads again). It's actually better than i expected.

Can't you buy them online?

BO3 is def the best CoD since BO2

Lmao... yeah, i actually didn't think about buying them online. Thing is my card isn't connected to my Xbox Live account so whenever i want to buy something online i have to buy the gift cards first. So usually it's not something i think about. I might just go do that tomorrow.

As for BO3, i actually think AW was better. Despite all the hate it got, even from myself, i really enjoyed it. The only thing that really ruined the experience for me at times was the connection and the matchmaking. BO3 seems a bit harder because it's so easy.

My life is turning into Winter Tires: The Epic Sega[/i]

Episode 1: The False Start: (last week) I went to get the new winter tires mounted and put on the car, but the tires hadn't arrived yet despite being ordered two weeks prior. But it didn't matter, because I didn't have the winter rims with me with the old tires, which is super important because the winter rims are 15", while the summer rims are 16", and wouldn't that have been really embarrassing when they went to mount them (it's not my car, so it's not my fault I didn't remember about the winter rims).

Episode 2: Unforeseen Problems: (today) I discovered that lock nuts are garbage and apparently I put them on too tight last time I had the tires off (by hand), and they broke not only my locknut key, but the dealers lock nut key as well when I went over to them to see about getting a replacement. On the upside, the new winter tires are mounted on their rims. They're just being super useful, riding around in the trunk for now.

Episode 3: Wallets Solve All Issues: So, episode 3 will be finally getting the wheels off. The solution is to weld a nut onto the lock nuts, which my Dad could do if he weren't indisposed by recently having his hip replaced, so for the lovely anticipated price of $100 per wheel, I get to take the car to an autobody shop so they can remove the lock nuts, because I don't know how to weld, and I'm pretty sure the rims cost more than that, so now wouldn't be a good time to learn. On the upside, one of the lock nuts was able to be removed, so I'll only have to pay for 3 wheels.

And for anyone thinking this would really suck if I got a flat, it actually matters a lot less than you'd think. Mini's don't have room for spare tires anyway, so not being able to get 75% of the wheels off doesn't make a huge amount of different. Of course, it would be a big tease if it happened right now, since I actually do have spare tires (four of them) riding around in the back.

Lmao... yeah, i actually didn't think about buying them online. Thing is my card isn't connected to my Xbox Live account so whenever i want to buy something online i have to buy the gift cards first. So usually it's not something i think about. I might just go do that tomorrow.

I really didn't like AW, except the campaign which was pretty good. BO3 campaign is awful, I couldn't make it past the fourth level because it's just so boring. The online feels more responsive and balanced though, maps are actually fun and zombies is almost worth it on its own.
