We're debating whether the movie can be equal to or greater than the originals based on the story/plot.

@ Vevia

I don't think anyone really ever said that Luke was powerful. The only character we can really compare him to is Vader who was definitely more 'powerful' than Luke, but is quite a bit older (not to mention crippled) and was bested in 1 lightsaber duel. The emperor/Yoda were clearly beyond Luke, and Obi-Wan never really showed any of his force prowess besides a few simple mind tricks.

Rey on the other hand is extremely powerful if she was able to do force stuff without even being told how to do it. You also have Kylo who seems powerful, but may not actually be as powerful as he lets on. We'll have to wait and see.

I can comment on the Like thing in that unless Disney changed it, Lucas has stated as cannon that Luke was a powerful Jedi on the level of Yoda.

Not sure if that stayed as Lucas stated.

We assume that he eventually got to that point based on non-canon source material, but nothing that we've seen in the movies really backs that up. I hope that changes though as I want to see what became of Luke.

You really don't like talking with people who have a different opinion than you do...

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

There's a difference between "having a different opinion" and not understanding/arguing the validity of otherwise pointless opinions. You can't debate the superiority of entertainment, just like you can't debate the superiority or lack thereof of colors or tastes or sounds. My opinion on the movie is mine and has no affect on the greater world... It's a personal taste, but also meaningless.

Simply put, it's more of a matter of how one frames his or her statements. I think The Force Awakens is superior. I'm not going to feign puzzlement at why you have your opinion, and it's not remotely difficult for me to think or understand others will have different opinions...

However, on rereading the posts, it seems I take statements at face value. I don't think your statement ("I don't know how you can say it is better than the originals.") was supposed to be taken literally. Sorry about that.

I mean, debating about this stuff in pointless in general (same with debating what toppings you like to have on a pizza), but can be stimulating and it can make you think about stuff in a way that you'd never thought about before.

[bleep]ing go for it Mere.

That's a good idea. Let's debate pizza toppings.

[bleep] pepperoni. Just cheese is better

I like olives on my pizza

Bell peppers and onions don't belong on a pizza, but jalepenos are fine

[bleep] you if you like pineapple on your pizza

Underrated pizza: Alfredo sauce, beef, extra cheese

I check TIF after half a day away from it, 50 notifications. You were busy.

My blog here if you want to check out my Times articles and other writings! I always appreciate comments/feedback.

I make pizza once a month about. Similar to New York style pizza. From scratch, the dough makes 4 medium (~12-inch) pizzas.

End result? Delicious dough with homemade tomato sauce, topped with mozzarella, pepperoni, diced red onions, and pickled banana peppers. The dough has a crispy shell and chewy interior. The sauce is simple, but great. Cheese melts well (12 minutes at 500 degrees) and compliments the other toppings.

I don't care much for any popular pizza joints. Papa John's, Domino's, Pizza Hut, whatever; it's like a decent fast food burger compared to a homemade, properly prepped 1/2 pound beef chuck patty on a great bun and toppings. The latter is much more preferable, even if the former is ok or good.

(This is jut my opinion. My brother, for example, just likes cheese pizza--no toppings, at all. So I make two cheese pizzas and two of the aforementioned pizzas. And then we have pizza as a dinner for 4 days...)

I renounce my title of triple post queen after being lapped about 4 times by bonez.

Pizza is great. I don't care what's on it. It's all fabulous.

I'm a pretty big fan of the new Star Wars movie. Probably will be when I wake up to. I don't see any particular issue with how the story was constructed, and I think it actually pays service to how both of the prior trilogies were done. I also have to say that I have been to precious few movies where the crowd cheers. If nothing else, the story was worth it for moments like that. Also, the opening crawl makes me feel like a kid again.

I also don't know why the flood control doesn't always work. I would however ask that people don't try to bypass it, and if the forums aren't responsive, please don't sit there hammering the post button over and over again.

I'm waiting until Wednesday to see the Force Awaken, when my twin and I will be back in Washington for the holidays. It's going to be tough avoiding spoilers after this weekend when the majority will have already seen it. Wish me luck, I've already not read anything here since my last post just incase something slips out.

So, just found out that apparently there is a Roman shipwreck off the coast of Oak Island. They have a sword and apparently location and are currently starting to rewrite the history books.

Do you have a link for this? Because this sounds huge

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3364818/Did-ROMANS-discover-America-Sword-Oak-Island-suggests-ancient-mariners-set-foot-New-World-Columbus-according-radical-theory.html

It's there, I may have made it sound more exact than is current. This might not be the same one but one article says they have the Roman shipwreck mapped on the ocean floor. Otherwise a random sword got there somehow.

I'm going home from uni for winter break (31 days) and am going to be staying with my parents. I don't have a very good relationship with them. The last time I was there was for Thanksgiving break (4 days) and it was very stressful. I probably drank nearly as much alcohol as my father in that period in an attempt to make it more bearable for myself. I'm actually kind of surprised they're letting me come home for the break. I couldn't find anywhere else to stay that was in my price range, so I'm coming here for advice.

What are some activities I can do by myself to get out of my house during the holiday season that don't cost a lot of money? I'm signed up for a winter course, but it only meets 5 times over the course of the break. I'm planning on also going to the school's gym those days to buy myself a little more time. In addition to this, there is a gym near my home that has a special offer for students returning for the break, so I think I can justify spending money on that to give me a couple hours 3 times/week. Other than that, I don't know what I'm going to do. While living at the university, I've been spending my free time doing this or that on my computer, but when I tried doing that during the last break, my parents got very upset and I really just want to minimize the amount of time I'm in that house.

First semester ended about how I thought. There is a lot of room for improvement though. Not a lot going on at the apartment other then gaming with the wife to be. Work is kicking my ass, but I know once I graduate I can give Wal-mart the middle finger and be done with it.

So glad all the Force Awakens has been put in spoilers. Haven't seen it yet, gonna see sometime next week.

Horatio, it would help a lot if you told us where you live. In a small town, a big city, a village, a house in the middle of nowhere, which region.

Always a good idea to just go out jogging or for long walks. Try to photograph something, if you have anything remotely capable of good photos.

Also, I think this Roman discovery is bullshit so far. A sword, a coin and a shield boss? Not nearly enough. Might be left there "accidentally" by modern collectors. Also, Daily Mail ain't the most reliable source on such issues.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

That's a good idea. Let's debate pizza toppings.

I agree with you on pepperoni but "just cheese" on pizza is absolutely not better or even okay in general. IF you want "just cheese", make your self a damn grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup and quit wasting everyone else's time with that garbage.

Olives and japapenos are gross to me, but I can see why people life them. Onions and bell peppers are god with certain toppings.

Pineapple is absolutely awful on pizza, cold items shouldn't mix with warm items. And also, if you like ranch with pizza I hate you.

Best pizza: Replace tomato sauce with BBQ sauce, have chicken, bacon, and onions (optional) for toppings.

I know that still there are no really credible sources on it but in early stages it sounds awesome. I can't wait to see if this is considered a new stage in history or disproven.

Today I saw this on Facebook and near died.
