Randox
Woke up around 8:00 am. Went to take out my chihuahua... and heard running water. There shouldn't have been any running water. I checked throughout the house, nope, no running water. Checked the outside water faucets, nope, no running water. Then I checked the carport utility closet. Water pumping out of the top of the water heater. Bullshit. There were some construction dudes down the street and one of them helped turn off the water to the house (valve was stuck, didn't have the strength or tools). Called the local water company before then, though. Let slip the account holder (my mom) was deceased, so it's more important the account switches from my mom to me. They'll require a deposit, too, I bet, stupid corporate spastics, despite the bill being paid on time on my part (since she's been deceased over a year now). Oh, and they'll try and have someone turn off the water in the mean time. Lucky for construction workers! Landlord is going to be out here shortly, I hope. Probably wasted upwards of ~500 gallons overnight. Ugh.Good catch. At least it's not in your main basement (depending on what your drainage is like down there), and lucky about the construction workers. I have to applaud how dedicated your water company seems to be to not caring too. That's pretty classy. It seems to be a thing water heaters do from time to time. My basement got turned into a full on sauna last year after the pressure safety valve decided to phone it in (fail).
RpgGamer
I've only had my water heater explode once thankfully. And the only thing ruined was my mom's collection of text books that were out of date anyway. Got off work. Drove to bar. Drinking alone because all day all I thought about was quitting but I need to secure references before I just bail. I can't wait to just not work here anymore. I'll figure out the rest later. I just can't cater anymore. 7 years too many Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. Anyone who likes logic is incapable of tacos. My basement got turned into a full on sauna last year after the pressure safety valve decided to phone it in (fail). Luckily we don't have a basement. Basements are scary, and I have enough to worry about. To be honest, my ideal house (negating my fears and stuff) would have to be built like a containment wall for a nuclear power station. Would also have to be incredibly fire resistant, like a submarine or modern seafaring ship. And would have to have a faraday cage sort of deal to negate doppler tools. In short, a multi-million dollar fort, ha. Anyway, I spent the last 6 hours watching the final 7 episodes of Doctor Who with my brother. Spoilers: It was a joke between my brother and I that Clara would die in an infinite loop when we heard this season was her last. My brother especially wasn't too fond of her, though I think she's better than Rose/Martha/Donna. Anyway, turns out the Doctor gets stuck in a 4.5 billion year death loop. Well then, right idea, wrong person. I also annoyed my brother by guessing quite a few plot points in advance. Pegged Clara as a Zygon in episode 7 when she was curiously specific about the Zygon pesticide. Figured the hand at the beginning of episode 11 was the Doctor's when the Doctor teleported in and that he was in some loop (later supposed it was the confession dial because of the shape of the castle). Nothing too outstanding or clever, but a bit funny all said and done. edit: well the post shouldn't suck now.

Tesset
I can only post once a minute after one of my many bans here. Probably the most helpful thing in preventing double postsOnly mods have that turned off. Everyone has to wait 45 seconds before posting twice. You can get around it with a slow internet connection sometimes, which is how Goon or Dax or Emily or someone posted like 18 pages at once one time, but in general yeah, everyone has to wait. Bonez899
It seems ridiculous to have to wait a month+ for results. I don't know much about Uni but I would think there is less than a month between semesters. So what happens if one of the courses is a prerequisite and you need to know exam marks in order to know you passed the class? http://forum.tip.it/topic/325514-bonez899s-journey-to-an-eventual-max/ My blog of progress on Runescape. Summer resits. At my uni back home a lot of our exams are at the end of the entire year meaning if you learnt something from September till December you would have your exam for it in May or June. For my course, I've pretty much been made to take a certain number of courses and I've never had any choice in which ones I do until now.I'm only allowed to choose this year because I'm on my year abroad and when I go back home for my final year I'll pick some more courses to fill up the credits but there isn't a prerequisite system as such back home (bar some courses where you do need to do specific complementary second year modules to be able to do the third year ones for example). You just have to pass a number of courses to make up a certain number of credits. Randox
So, having a little fun on Wikipedia, and I started looking at the T-V distinction that english used to have (your definition of fun may vary). Basically, ye and [/you] were the formal words for the nominative and objective case, respectively, and thee and [/though] would be informal. Thee and thou eventually became pejoratives and fell out of use, and then we stopped using ye at all and just started you. So aside from making plurals horrendously unclear because english is quite literally missing a word (hence colloquialisms: youse, y'all, you all, etc.), that's all fine. First observation. 'You' is normally used in the singular, so the word we are (sort of) missing is the plural second person pronoun...which used to be 'you'. That is, 'you' and 'ye' were once upon a time the plural forms of 'thou' and 'thee', which then came to also have that T-V distinction of formal and familial you find in many languages. So, some nice irony there. Also, for people who aren't grammar buffs, I'll clarify nominative and objective with the words he and [/i]him[/i]. He is the nominative case, while him is the objective. So take the sentence: James will talk to Mark. You could in conversation with a third party say 'he will talk to Mark', or 'James will talk to him', rather than saying 'James will talk to Mark'. The transition of using 'you' for both 'you' and 'ye' would be the equivalent of dropping the word 'he' entirely, and only using the word 'him'. So now you could say "him will talk to Mark" or "James will talk to him" and both would become grammatically correct. I couldn't do it as a career, but I do think there is some fun and interest to be had in the history of a language. This also sort of screwballs our grammar, since one word is being used in place of what should be four words, though in fairness I think the plural/singular distinction probably went out the window when we started using them as formal and informal. I don't speak another language like French, so I don't really know how they handle that sort of double duty meaning.
Noxx
Found out a girl i used to "see" about a year ago entered into an arranged marriage. It was kind of a shock when i found out. I saw a picture on Facebook about 2 or 3 days ago, with a lot of people congratulating her. All of them also seemed quite surprised. We weren't exactly great friends so i would have expected her to tell me she was getting engaged or anything, but i am sure i would have seen something about it on Facebook. So when i saw she got married i found it kinda odd, and then last night i found out it was arranged. I feel really bad for her cause she's only met him 5 times in her life. She says she has very little in common with him. She's very westernized and he's very traditional. She's extremely hot and he's extremely average. Really never expected her family to be this "traditional".
RpgGamer
Spanish conjugation makes more sense (as do most languages) having i/you/yous/we/us/them,him (and her). We conjugate our sentence and our tenses in our verbs (I think) so we have things like go verse went when in Spanish it would always be a variation of vamos (which is actually already conjugated because I can't remember the standard form) Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. Arceus
The infinitive "to be" (ir) is highly irregular in both languages - interesting how that carried over :P. 1 "Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for."
