I swear a lot when I'm with friends. It's a bad habit really. But, it doesn't really matter to me as much as it would to other people.

After all, saying gosh and darn all the time kind of deflates your reasoning. Going up to someone and saying "darn you!" or "go to heck!" makes you sound like a complete idiot.

This, I don't go "what the Fing F you Fing son of a B W C (you figure out the last 3 letters) but it's also nerdy and stupid to go "aw gosh darnit"

Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....

Do not underestimate the powers of of the gosh-darn-heck trio. Their wondertriplet powers may activate.

I thought it was a sextet; gosh-darn-heck-fudge-butt-poop  If you say anyone of these worlds in place of a curse word... wow

fudge is ok to say as in chocolate, and butt is ok as in a person's butt. If you call someone a butt-head though, its stupid.

We should create the laws of swearing

The one I am stuck saying the most everywhere is [wagon]. I'll be walking, and then trip, and I'll say quite calmly, "Oh, [wagon]..."

Then I slap myself in the forehead and say "s**t". And then start laughing... And then I feel bad. :?

I'm quite a calm person, but when I do get angry, it's a bit like the Hulk coming out of me. I'll swear for no apparent reason, but I've noticed it helps relieve stress. After a few sentences loaded with said words, I feel a lot better and am calmed down to the point where I can think straight again. Never when authority figures are around though, I'd get in trouble.

My advice to you is not sweat it. Swear words are going to slip out from time to time, so don't swear at yourself for swearing. If you can't just ignore it, then replace the swear word with something completely random, and maybe even funny. For example: You say a swear word and are may. Instead of saying "Oh, [insert curse word here,"] say something like, "Oh, Dabble." Completely random, and not a curse word. People may think you're a bit odd, but it might help you feel a bit better.

I don't like it when people swear for no reason, sort of like what Ginger_Warrior said. I know a few people who talk like this: "I was like [bleep]ing doing this, right? And then this [bleep]ing girl came over and started [bleep]ing me out for no [bleep]ing reason. So I was like, 'what the [bleep]?' - right?"

had a guy like that when i was in Yr10. my god it was the most annoying thing, t'was like every second word was a swear word.

on topic: i'll swear like any other person but i dont do it in an offensive manor. say im messing around with friends i'll swear in joke but i never swear as a direct insult unlike my younger sister. O,o. plus in the intarwebz i usually replace a swear word with: " oh [cabbage]. " stops me from making the swearing too bad of a habit.

and also abyssal, i actually say "oh good darn 'ol chap" but only to friends in a joke manor. ::'

Personally I don't find a point. Swear words usually just emphasis an expression and in no way contributes to it. "That's BS" has the same effect as "No way" and "What?" or "Pardon?" has the same effect as "What the hell?"

To be honest, I find those that swear excessively only do so because of their undeveloped vernacular. If they spent as much as learning new words as they did swearing, that would defeat the purpose. And excessive swearing also defeats the purpose. No words actually start as profanity unless they get abused in such a way that everyone has had it with the annoyance.

Gay means happy, while it was only until the latter 20th century that it was used to slander homosexuals.

The B word is a female dog, but is now associated as an insult for someone who is annoying. What does being annoying have to do with dogs of the feminine gender?

[wagon] is a donkey, but I suppose the majority of the populous would rather say the 5 letter expression "My [wagon]" as opposed to "My Gluteus Maximus"

And the F word, I'm not even gonna go there...

I knew all those facts thanks to my brother who knows all kinds of useless stuff (Well this one was useful though). Also Doesn't the F - word (Gay one) mean "cigarette" in England?

I tend to swear a lot, in Sweden we have a word that means the same thing as "[cabbage]" and "damn", it's quite mild though and I use frequently a things and not to people like a American would say "[cabbage]!" or the F - word when something goes wrong etc.

Yes, a [bleep] in England means cigarette. I find it rather cool that the Swedish have a world that means [cabbage], yet is still mild

I swear a lot. It's just a bad habit for me. My parents even gave up on yelling at me every time I swore. Now I can drop the f-bomb and my parents could care less.

But does that really mean you should?

I don't swear when anyone's around, and even then it's usually not even a coherent word, just sort of a "graAAOUgh!".

according to my parents and friend i used to swear a lot when i was younger (7), but now i refrain from trying to say them...

Though sometimes it's a bit annoying when you're friends swear, and you try and repeat something funny they said to someone else, and a good proportion of the punchline lay in the vulgar language, then the joke sort of dies. Though it has it's kicks when new friends come up to you after a couple of weeks and say 'you know i've never heard you swear', so it sort of does pay off

I don't have a problem with swearing at all, but I have a social conscience which tells me when it's appropriate and inappropriate.

They're just words and offence taken to them is entirely dependant on social constructs, but again, I'm mindful of those and I'm not into making a scene just for the hell of it.

on msn where i have a filter(typer f-word and it becomes fish... etc) then i start using it on friends. They don't really care :P

As for verbally... I just don't venture too far out. (no f-words, no child of unmarried parents, no dialect vulgarites, and my parents won't care)

I don't swear online, though I'll use abbreviations. In real life, it's become a habit, but I've cut down on it a lot. It started a few years ago, when a new kid moved here, and he would swear basically every few words. A few of my friends picked up on it, and they started swearing like crazy as well. I'm fine if other people swear, but if they do it to seem cool, or if it's pointless, then they get on my nerves. I usually don't swear at other people, there are better insults and comebacks. But yea, saying darn or heck doesn't have the same effect. That's the only reason I'd swear loudly, for effect. I swear in my head, or mutter them out of frustration though. Oh, and I personally don't count "crap" as a swear anymore...It's the only one I use frequently too.

A while ago, I started saying "bleep" instead. Also "balls." Don't ask. Soon enough, it'll become a habit, and I won't swear anymore. But instead, I'll say "balls you." #-o
