I find myself cursing quite often. Sometimes, I will use swear words when I am around friends just to be funny or to get my point across. Other times, it will be because of a small incident that pushes me over the edge, and I'll quietly swear to myself. I've been really trying to cut down on it; yet, its quite funny in some instances, where I will curse, and then curse again on accident because I cursed, if that makes any sense. I've started to find words to replace swear words, but it doesn't work often. I'll get mad at myself when I use a swear word. I want it to stop.

 

 

 

So...Do you curse? Do you have a problem with it? Any advice on how to cut down on it?

I swear a lot when I'm with friends. It's a bad habit really. But, it doesn't really matter to me as much as it would to other people.

 

 

 

After all, saying gosh and darn all the time kind of deflates your reasoning. Going up to someone and saying "darn you!" or "go to heck!" makes you sound like a complete idiot.

I don't usually curse around other people, but I swear to myself quite often :-#

When appropriate, yes. I don't swear around family members / at work / in front of adults (that is college professors and stuff like that). However any other time is fair game.

i hardly ever swear around people i know...

That's basically how it is for me. I got caught a while back for cursing and got grounded for it (though I never cursed around any adult).

 

 

 

I won't lie though, I have accidentally cursed in a restaurant with adults inside. It just slipped. :wall:

I don't swear. Period.

Just like everyone else, I do swear (quite often actually) but not infront of adults or teachers.

All hockey players (including myself) are bi-lingual. We know english and profanity.

 

 

 

I was bred to use curse words, but I know when and where the appropriate times are to use them.

I don't generally swear regardless of who I'm with.

 

 

 

I do swear in games though...and I do use the 'wtf' or 'wth' abbreviations quite often.

I curse to myself all the time, especially when dealing with very [bleeping] annoying customers at McDonalds, and sometimes when I'm getting p/o'ed in a game or some sort like that. I never curse in front of adults, but I will curse sometimes when I'm with my friends, but I use replacement words like "dang" and "shoot" instead.

It's not a 'heat of the moment' thing and there's a good dozen words that could be used instead. Tells me they haven't actually thought through what they're saying all that much, or they'd realise how stupid they sound.

I don't really understand whats so drastically different about swearing in place of another word though, in a casual conversation I doubt anyone is going to really care.

It isn't a big deal to me. Everyone does it. I try to be better at it around the ladies, but a lot of them curse like sailors.

I swear a lot, and around everyone. It's one of my greatest bad points.

 

I curse for no reason whatsoever, just because I feel like cursing at the time. Sometimes teachers and people confront me on it, and I will use milder language throughout the lesson/day.

 

I forgot about it the next day thou :(

It drives me nuts, decreases my ability to concentrate on what they're trying to get across to me, and just sounds tacky. It's completely unnecessary to talk like that. But the I don't have a problem with the occasional swear word to express emotion, because then it actually has a purpose and isn't just there for cosmetic reasons.

I don't swear. Period.

That annoys me greatly as well. That isn't what I do, thankfully.

I'm not the biggest fan of using the f-bomb in the middle of a word like....

I curse a lot. Personally I don't think it's neccesarily bad, as it's good for venting some frustration. Naturally it'd be a bit weird and indecent to just swear anywhere, but I have no problem with swearing in front of my friends.

On the internet, I'm barely ever caught swearing. In real life, I can usually fit in a good word every few sentences. It's great for expressing feelings and makes people think what I have to say is important. :P

 

 

 

On Spongebob, they think swears are "sentence enhancers". Well, I actually think they're right when it comes to the real world.

Sometimes, I feel the world wants us to swear.

 

And its much more fun to turn to obscenity round after words by adding a less-than-related noun following the word. Plus its somewhat more accepted like that, not that im particularly bothered about that, everyone in my area knows I swear at the first chance I get. Though I find I swear in reverse. Utilising my whole swearing vocabulary at the slightest of things, yet when something pops up that I should be mad/irritated about the only word coming to mind is "bloody".

I usually only curse when I'm on my own or with people who also swear. I never swear much, though; I think swearing a lot is a bad habit. I never swear around people I've just met, as I don't know how they might react to it.

People who swear when they're telling a joke, or especially when making some witty point, hack me off too.

 

 

 

Unless of course the joke is in the hyperbole, in which case the swear actually builds it up.

As Zierro said, I never swear on the internet, besides for an occasional "damn". I think it's usless when in typed form, since it doesn't emphasize it since you can't hear the person's voice.

I swear all the [bleep]ing time. Got a [bleep]ing problem with that, you [bleep]ing [bleep]?
