August 8, 200817 yr a simple question, who do you think is the best guitarist ever, regardless of genre. note: if anyone suggests slash, im afraid i will have to cry in frustration. god must be a builder. his original quote said six days, he didnt finish on time, he buggered off, didnt make a good job of it in the first place, and he still hasnt finished.
August 8, 200817 yr Nicolo Paganini. Best violinist/guitarist/violist/composer ever Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

August 8, 200817 yr in all seriousness, slash's solos have a nice bluesy feel about them which I really love. Satriani has some really really cool stuff to listen to, and buckethead is just insane. (and i'm not just naming GH names.) in terms of guitarists playing in a band and not solo, sometimes tom morello does some really cool stuff with effects, and john frusciante has some of the most awesome guitar I've ever heard.
August 8, 200817 yr I really like Rowland S. Howard his sound. That's all the why. I won't say that he is the best guitarist in the world though. I just want to put him forward as someone who I really like, his music of course. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
August 8, 200817 yr Of course, Hendrix is amazing. Period. But there are some things in his playing that just lack for me. He's still in the top 5 at least though. For my tastes, at least, I'd have to say John Frusciante has some of the greatest overall playing that I've heard. He tries puts a feeling in every note that he plays and doesn't have to "two hand tap" really fast to be good. Although he can and has done it at times. I respect the fact that he doesn't stick to one genre as well. In some of his solo work, he branches off into electric and experimental at times. Although I most respect his acoustic work as a solo artist. When I started playing guitar, I tried to play just like him, and even got a guitar similar to the one he plays. (although a lot less expensive) Needless to say, I failed in that attempt, but anyways, he's on the top of my list. Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew
August 8, 200817 yr Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Adam Jones, Tom Morello, Mark Knopfler. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."
August 8, 200817 yr I'd say Duane Allman and Jimi are pretty much tied. Jimi just gets the upper hand because he was so publicized, most people put Duane at #2....but I think it's too close to tell.
August 9, 200817 yr Zakk Wylde. 8-) Sorry, but I disagree. His riffs are uncreative, and every second or third note is an effing pinch harmonic. On my side, as far as the BEST guitar palyer, I'm not going to say. This is an endless debate. Everyone has their own opinions, and everyone has their own genre's they like. But I will say my favorite guitarist: Alexi Laiho. He can be brutal, he can be melodic, and his solos are amazing.
August 9, 200817 yr Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Adam Jones, Tom Morello, Mark Knopfler. I'm with you on Adam Jones. Not really for technical brilliance, but for creativity. Ill have to add Hendrix as one of my favorites and Ive always loved what Mikael Åkerfeldt can do with a guitar.
August 9, 200817 yr Dimebag Darrell =D> R.I.P 1980 Berlinetta with a 350, bored, mild cam, intake carb, headers, exhaust
August 9, 200817 yr Joe Pass is my favourite. Or maybe Buckethead. Django Reinhardt, Paul Waggoner, and Andrés Segovia are/were pretty alright as well. I'm not gonna bother touching who the "best" guitarist is. These are just my favourites. I've never understood why everyone thinks Jimi Hendrix was such an amazing guitarist. He had the feel, but in terms of technical skill, he was nowhere near the top. Cool.
August 9, 200817 yr Hendrix... not only does he play guitar insanely, but he also uses the feeback to his advantage like I have never seen from any other guitarist.
August 9, 200817 yr Hendrix... not only does he play guitar insanely, but he also uses the feeback to his advantage like I have never seen from any other guitarist. Really? Not even, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez? I'm pretty sure Omar wins on the feedback department. August 9, 200817 yr Rock: - Claudio Sanchez - Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Metal: - Mikael Åkerfeldt - Michael Romeo - Olavi Mikkonen And some others I cba to mention. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
August 9, 200817 yr if we are talking about shredder guitarists... would have to say Jason Becker [hide=] [/hide] but for just general playing I am stuck between -John Mclaughlin [hide=] [/hide] -Frank Zappa [hide=] [/hide] -Eddie Hazel [hide=] [/hide] -Grant Green [hide=] [/hide]
August 9, 200817 yr Hendrix... not only does he play guitar insanely, but he also uses the feeback to his advantage like I have never seen from any other guitarist.agree!he could play with his teeth o.O and although he was left haanded,he used a righthanded guitar to make it "hard" for himself 99 Firemaking 30-5-2010 | 99 Fletching 13-7-2014 TET-AU member:6-10-2010 - 21-10-2011
August 10, 200817 yr I've never understood why everyone thinks Jimi Hendrix was such an amazing guitarist. He had the feel, but in terms of technical skill, he was nowhere near the top. It's not just the ability, which most agree was very good (not technically the most brilliant in the world, obviously), but it's the songwriting ability and flare the guy had. Listening to albums like Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland just blow me away. Having said that, I'm a tad perplexed that he consistently gets the top spot as "best guitarist of all time" in all those lists you see. That kind of thing is very subjective to judge, really. It depends how you define the "best".
August 10, 200817 yr I agree with Warrior. It really has to do with the flare and the actual feeling that his music gives me as opposed to how complicated or hard it is to play. But I suppose different people will have different feelings about his music, so "the best guitarist" is always going to be a highly opinionated matter.
