What is your biggest fear?

Featured Replies

I was taking a shower and meanwhile thinking about important stuff going on in my life. Suddenly I thought about a conversation me and a friend had about fears. Everbody has fears, some small and some serious,in this topic I would like to find out some of other people's fears.

As a child I was mortally afraid of spiders,I would literally leave my room and sleep somewhere else if there was a spider too close to me. In time I got over it and now spiders really don't bother me anymore.

My biggest fear I haven't gotten over,is drowning. When I was a small boy on my first trip to a pool,I slipped in the water and proceded to sink to the bottom. I was too panicked to save myself and those moment under water seemed to last an eternity. I was quickly helped up but have never shaken the fear of drowning. This hindered my learning to swim but eventually I learned to swim and now am a good and fast swimmer. Although I can swim and just water or pools don't scare me,I still fear drowning sometimes. I don't dare to go far in lakes or public swimming holes,or swim when I'm alone (except for a home pool). Also I'll never go diving, surfing on deeper water,do triathlons, rowing or on unsafe looking boats....

That's my fear gotten out of the way,now I would like to hear from others. You don't have to post how you got your fear or what possible downsides you receive from it if you don't want, but it might give some insight. Also nobody should be ashamed of their fears, alot of people are afraid of alot of things, ranging from dogs, balloons, open spaces, colors to spiders,drowning,hights,clowns...

I would like to keep this topic as decent as possible so no flames,no insults,no laughing at other peoples fears,spam...

Spiders.

When I was a kid, I used to think monsters lived in the roof. I didn't realise that it was my image, but the house kept creaking and I though that it was them walking around. I was also afraid the robbers were in the house  . I would stay awake to see if I could here them. My only fear now is that some thug will beat me up.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

I've always been afraid of dogs. I was bitten by a dog when I was real little, maybe a year old. Right on the forehead. I've got a scar, which is so small I couldn't find it, and I don't remember it happening either. But for some reason dogs still scare me a little.

Glad I'm not the only one who takes advantage of precious showering time lol.

I guess my biggest fears include falling from high places (I don't mind being up there, but I'm not jumping), any insect with too many legs/bites, ending up alone.

I have a friend who refuses to sit in the back seats of 3 door cars, because if we crash into a lake he won't be able to get out as easy. :|

As for me, I believe I've stated this in another thread, but talk about periods and menstrual blood etc just really grosses me out.

Thing is it's hard to gross me out with anything else. I just can't stand it, especially when they talk about clots and stuff it makes my stomach turn.

I'm literally afraid of my own paranoia. I'm too scared of being scared to be scared.

And to some extent icky bugsies.

And pyro, there are three-door cars? That's wierd.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I have paranoia. Not major, just paranoia. Put it down to that.

My two biggest fears are spiders and heights, both of them have me white with fear.

Spiders have me screaming and was once quite dangerous when I was a passenger in a friends car, a spider dropped on my lap and he almost crashed the car as I was going crazy. and yep I know it's an irrational fear :?

Heights actually make me dizzy, the funniest thing is I get vertigo when playing computer games too, if I have to walk along a ledge in a realistic 3D game such as Doom or Halflife 2, it really does make me all wobbly :(

Not going anywhere in life.

Add me on Xbox Live and mention you are from Tif :D

Back when we had the "What are your fears?" thread, I said that most of my fears boiled down to the fear of death. That was initially going to be my answer, but then I decided on something else. The end. No, that's not the end of the post. I'm afraid of the end. Not like...Apocalypse, but I'm really regretful. I can't stand the end of things. The end of movies, the end of years, the end of a period of time, the end of vacation.

Going back to the fear of death, I suppose that's more of the fear of end of life. I'm not really afraid of the pain that comes with death, or what comes after.

What first brought me to the fear of death? My fears of fire, vehicular accidents, bugs (Uh...Diseases carried by bugs?), falling/heights, sickness/disease and dogs (Bites can be fatal. Maybe.).

screwing up my life some how

Oh yeah,I forgot I had this too,it's gotten less since I'm in college. But sometimes I still get periods where I can't think of anyhting else.

Not fears, really, but just paranoia of a lot. Checking over my shoulder a bunch, screening calls, sometimes when I'm out walking I'll even take a bunch of random turns, doubling back and such to throw off anyone following me, trying to not think some stuff in case someone nearby is reading my mind, stuff like that.

But fear-wise, and for some reason I didn't mention this on the last thread, but ticks. Those little bugs that dig into your skin and suck your blood. The mere thought makes me shudder. I won't even go far into the woods during the summer out of fear, and if I do, i'm constant swatting at my clothing, brushing my self off, feeling myself over, all to check for them.

Could probably endure waterboarding torture for some time since you have the psychological advantage of knowing the objective is not to kill you...

But the genuine threat of drowing into a freezing cold deep sea with only hundreds of miles of water around you at night... Seems like a pretty horrible way of dying.

Heights. Whenever my feet are on any platform that is six feet or more off the ground (This of course does not bother me when I cannot see that I am high up) I totally freak out and much cling to the nearest person.
