Star.
Oh god DBZ episodes... Frustrating as hell! Talk about dragging a saga on. So, I plan to catch up on anime this weekend. I haven't watched anything for a while but I want to check out these newer ones. Got to watch/check out: Ao no ExorcistHanasaku IrohaYuru YuriDouble J Then I feel like re-reading Aria and Yotsubata and perhaps check out the dirty section of mangafox. If anyone has some animes to recommend then go ahead and say so. ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢
Monk
Finished Star Driver today, and Clannad last week. Both good series imo. Planning to get Clannad After Story when I go home next week. Nadril
Well subs are a bit redundant for me now I've enough of a grasp on Japanese to watch most anime (though they're still helpful). What's annoying is mistranslations though, makes my brain ache. The worst is one anime I watched was in english and subbed...to english. I have no idea how the [bleep] it happened and I couldn't turn subs off haha. They would say one thing and sub would be another.

Mostly excited for Working!! S2 but I'll check out Kyuokai Senjou no Horizon, Maken-Ki!, Kimi to Boku, Mirai Nikki, C3, and Ben-To. Kimi to Boku is especially interesting to me since it follows the life of 4 male[/] high school students. I want to see how it contrasts to Lucky Star, K-ON, Nichijou, and others. Napalm
So Nichijou ended, and it was kinda dissapointing. I liked Ep 25 much better, they should have flipped them around. Also, finished reading Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. It was weird, for the most part is was rather generic, but in the last 2-3 volumes it turned incredibly good. Now it's time to wait 2 days until Kaiji S2 ends. 02/10 Edit: Fate/Zero and HxH remake started, both look great so far.
Toki_Hakurei
Freezing (the manhwa by Im Dal-Young) just keeps getting better and better. Has a very good mix of a dark story and hot girls. Definitely worth the read. Nexaduro
So... Any good brainless, fun anime shows out there? Along the lines of, say, Soul Eater? I'm bored of being bored, and bored of silly surreal anime. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Princess Viola
Since I haven't done so already, I began to read the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga. $20 says the manga won't be done by the time I've caught up.
Nexaduro
Good luck with Evangelion, Aiko. I couldn't even get into the anime series. Also, I've started watching Slayers proper, rather than just the first bit of the first episode on rainy days. Has that nice Saturday-morning cartoon feel to it. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? I'm planning to start Yumekui Merry but yeah looks like I'm too lazy...I watched Yumekui as it was airing and I was really disappointed by the ending...well nothing really new with JC Staff and bad endings. But doesn't hurt to give it a go; I should go read the manga now though. Bit late for this season but really enjoying Fate/Zero, Penguindrum, and Mirai Nikki. Fall season's pretty good this year. FZ and Mirai Nikki are really good (and imho FZ could take "anime of the year"). Isn't Penguindrum a Summer anime? Haven't seen it yet myself :S Since the year is closing, any thoughts on shows that were great in 2011? Imo... The year started off slow, with winter only really pulling in Mahou Shoujo (and KnT 2 for the fangirls out there :P but both shows were pretty top notch), summer was in my eyes the slowest season (blood C, usagi drop, kamisama dolls are the only notable mentions though I didn't really like any of these)... Halfway through the year things started to get rolling though. I'd say Spring had by far the largest number of enjoyable animes (kaiji 2, steins gate, AnE, C, ano hana, nichijou, gintama 2, hanairo (@@@@@@) lol), now Fall so far is cropping up to take the top ranks with FZ and mirai nikki. I know it's not even December yet but here's my personal top 3 this year so far:1. Fate/Zero2. Ano Hana3. Nichijou I know MAL users have rated Gintama 2 waaaaaay at the top of the all-time list (#1 with a rating of 9.27, wow), but personally I never really got into it (yes, despite the fact that I did catch the vast majority of the references/parodies). Everyone has stopped talking about it, I assume, because it's too QUALITY to bare. For my top three; Mahou Shoujo was good, but I'm getting a bit disenchanted with the constant prepubescent girls (and Mami) in some anime nowadays. Except for Nichijou, Nichijou made all the rest of the girl cartoon crud forgivable, and it's probably my number 1 for making me laugh like hell (I haven't even started episode 3...). Steins;Gate was a solid third, though I'm kinda apathetic about parts. My all time favourites would probably be:1. Soul Eater (until it diverges from the manga)2. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann3. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica4. Full Metal Alchemist (until it diverges from the manga)5. GibberEsh
Yeah, I know Penguindrum is a summer series but I think it's only getting good now, though it still depends on how the series ends. I'll decide on my favorites for 2011 at the end of the year even though there's not really any outstanding 1-cour series in fall besides F/Z (and Mashiro-iro symphony, which is just my guilty pleasure...). Extremely looking forward to Nisemonogatari in winter though!
Racheya
I planned on watching more this year than I did, but that always happens. Madoka was this year? Wow, it feels like it's been out forever. Madoka, Steins;Gate and Nichijou have been my tops so far. It's possible Fate/Zero and Mirai Nikki could also get themselves on that list if they keep up being as good as they currently are :) Bring on Winter! Nexaduro
So, I found out City of Heroes is free now. I seized the opportunity. The anime-related bit? Apparently, you can give your character an uncanny resemblance to Makise Kurisu. And so I did. Aten
Went through MAL's top animes list and found one I hadn't actually heard about sitting at #37: NANA. Read a few reviews and it sounds fairly promising, looks to be pretty drama-heavy but I'm definitely looking forward to it. Episode 1 was great ;o Spastic nana reminds me of the lead from Bokura ga Ita (LOLOL named Nana as well? r.i.p.). I also immediately noticed the OST, which is really one of the most important aspects of any drama anime imo. Josei version of BGI ??? Crocefisso
It's good to see there's someone else appreciating RuroKen here. Also, for anyone (which should be everyone here) who is a fan of Miyazaki, this is a wonderful analysis of Spirited Away. I always knew it was an anti-capitalist film, but I never knew it was quite so layered and subtle. PS: Necro not intended, just forgot about this thread :P "Imagine yourself surrounded by the most horrible cripples and maniacs it is possible to conceive, and you may understand a little of my feelings with these grotesque caricatures of humanity about me." - H.G.
