The Average Runescapers' Moral Value

namename

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if im the only one, but lately ive been going to GWD again lately, and each day i notice people in my team not blessing other peoples graves because they simply cant be bothered to, i myself always try to bless graves (if i have prayer left), for example, this is what happened to me today.

I go to Bandos with a team.

A teammate dies, i bless his grave and tele because the team was to small in my opinion, several other teammates stay in bandos' lair.

The teammate returns, gets 40KC and notices he forgot his hammer (Needed to enter room).

The teammmate asks if the people in the room bless his grave, but they refuse to because they say its a waste of prayer.

Teammate loses ~40M gear.

Luckily for me it wasn't me in this situation, but i'm sure it COULD have been me.

In my opinion the AR'MV is low, most players would rather sell their grandmothers then to lose "valuable prayer points" in runescape. In the past the community was way better, and i hope it can become that good again.

What really bothers me is, that most people that play this game wouldnt help another person (Unless they had a personal gain out of helping), i personally believe that if that is how you think, your moral value is [bleep]ed up.

I bet if this was before the Anti-RWT update you would of taken all of his items and kept them.

The truth is, if you die in this game there should be no second chances. Gravestones ruined the danger in this game; sometimes there has to be someone who does for the better, and not bless his gravestone. It is his fault for feeling so secure in this game that he could take 40m worth of items into one of the most dangerous parts of the game. It's the same as going to the old wilderness and pking with a party hat: you would have to be stupid to do so.

I only bless gravestones if it was an unfair death, such as a random event keeping the person from teleporting, or if the guy dies because of a glitch.

There is a difference. At that point it was fair game to take his items, and I wouldn't even scorn anyone but those who I thought of as good friends for it. Now that there are gravestones however, one shouldn't be that selfish so as not to bless it - or at least a repair when possible, since that is quite cheap.

I'm with namename on this one actually, like yeah I get theres hardly any risks anymore and that might muck some stuff up but if i had 40m of stuff waiting for me in another room and the minutes are ticking away and I just can't reach it to save it and theres people mere squares away that can bless it and give me all the time i need, I'd want someone to bless my darn tombstone! It's the whole treat others as you want to be treated I think, Karma comes around in my opinion.

As for the GWD wkw427 is right you shouldnt go with people you don't know, a group of friends will look out for each other but a group of random money crazed people will only be looking for themselves.

So maybe its not exactly a question of morality its a question of how people treat money in this game and forget that its just a game, thats the really messed up part of most players.

Don't you mean the teammate asks for a hammer since his grave is already blessed, and they didn't give it to him so his grave collapsed destroying all his items?

I'l bless a gravestone whenever I see one provided I have enough pray. one of my friend's was ranging black dragons in taverly when another person got killed by one, he blessed the guys grave and the guy came back got his stuff and continued ranging. Then my friend wasn't paying attention ( naughty :shame: ) and got killed by the black dragon, he pmed the other person to ask if he could bless it, the other person refused and logged out to another world, my friend wasn't able to reach his grave in time and as a result lost 5m worth of stuff. Shows the attitude some people can have :( .

Well any death could be classed as "unfair" it's not like the person who died intended to do so, how do you know if they didn't lag out?

Wow, thats disgraceful, thats really [cabbage]ty of the person. It gets me frustrated even though I have nothing to do with it.

I repair (can't bless, I'm too cheap to get 70) every grave I see unless its in Lumbridge

Where do these extremely selfish people just spawn? I hope this won't become a normal thing eventually :ohnoes:

I'd say the moral value in this game is higher than ever before.

There ain't pking for loot, so there ain't luring anymore.

(Of course Jagex is intent on inviting the e-thugs back this winter. -.- )

And since you can't get stuff from people's misfortunate deaths at monsters, that got rid of door noobs, and other tricksters who liked to make people die.

Honestly, this is how I see it and this is how I play. I don't mean to be rude by the way I play so if anyone who reads my post thinks it is rude that is fine it's your opinion.

When I go to GWD with a random team of people I do not know, I won't bless the grave for the simple fact that the items he's dropped and lost could go up or down in price cause there's 1 less of them available in the game. Also I don't bless the graves because I may need my prayer at some point and because I don't know these people and I most likely won't see them again.

That's selfishness to the maximum, and also shows the ignorance of the average 'Scaper: if someone goes in there with a godsword, a Barrows set, anything high-level combat, one loss won't change anything. After all, more are coming in the economy by the minute. And it is not like someone dies in the GWD with one specific piece of equipment, is it?

common courtesy is the term that comes to mind.

Well let's see, I usually pm the person who died if it's nescessary that I bless his grave since I'd rather not, 'waste' if you like, my prayer points. But if he's about to lose something valuable I'd not hesitate about it, unless that person has been rude to me in some unforgivable way.

Other than that, I do fight over training spots, I don't log if a mining spot's in use cause I don't think you can expect someone to train a slower way if they can easily beat you to a spot.

Survival of the fittest, simple as that. But only in those cases.

I'd bless a gravestone for someone but i dont feel its excepted of me, its common courtesy (or should be anyway)

If i saw a grave i would bless it but if i didnt for some reason (maybe didnt see it or something) i wouldnt apologise to them because i didnt bless it, i think its the decent thing to do but should not be expected from people.

In general I wouldnt say the overall moral values of your average Rs player are going down hill, if your going GWD with a group from the Rsof who are only there for quick money, i guess the morals will be kinda lax. People are just as nice as ever imo, its just who you come into contact with,

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

I'll remember to make sure I dont go GWD with u ;)

On a serious note: Who cares if you dont know them....maybe you blessed that guys grave...you two start chatting...become really good friends...etc,etc

My point is that sure you dont know them but if you act like that all the time...you wont know anyone...any why? just because of an extremely stupid idea that you think prices will go up/down....tbh thats the worst excuse ive ever heard of, id more respect to ppl who say "b/c i dc" then you.....srsly you are THE example of the average runescapers moral value going down...

Btw generally I never see people like that......when gravestones didnt exist I remember going to black demons with my fire a bunch of expensive equipment. I forgot my anti-fire...took the pipe shortcut lagged and got wtfpwnt by a blue drag. Anyway these people didnt even see me but when i got back both of them traded me. I thought they were gonna mock me by showing what they got but I was extremely surprised when both of them gave me stuff back, almost 15mil in total.. that was probably the nicest thing any stranger on rs has done for me, and they were both lvl 70-80. Anyway sounds cliche but i added them both to bl and to this day were still friends ::'

yah so not all people would take the items in old rs and we usuallyy had 1-2 threads a month of people questioning "was i wrong to take these itemS"

maybe the 70-80 werent to focused on money or thinking thats way more than they will ever need not like now when everyone cant even be satisfied with 4m or so.......

I have said this before and I'll say it again, I believe it's an overall lack of morals and ethics in LIFE. Runescape is just a part of life so those morals and ethics are carried over into the game.

More than people believe or will admit, people play like they live their lives.

I always repair any gravestones that I see a couple of times in order to give the person a chance to come back and get their stuff. I know how much it hurts to lose all of your stuffs when your gravestone collapses. I died in deep wildy not too long ago and I lost all of the stuff in it because none of the people that were around it were willing to bless it apparently. :(

Random Person that didn't talk much/immature loser: Don't bless. And in the latter case, i tell him i blessed but i really didn't so he takes his time.

I like this idea.

And i'll bless if I can spare the prayer points. If it's someone I know, then i'll bless regardless.

I wholeheartedly agree with that. The only time I'll bless a gravestone is for a friend.

If people want to bring expensive items to places like GWD they should be prepared to lose their items, I know I am.

The moral value in rs is disgraceful to be honest, there are some exceptions but on the whole i find most people barely know the meaning of moral.

Most of their arguments are 'if your stupid enough to do ..... then you should lose ### items'

I even had an hour long argument with a clan member of mine about how luring was wrong, and he couldn't get it into his head that it was. I really can't even comprehend how screwed up some of these people are irl, but i really sometimes just want to physically hit them in the face and say 'if you were stupid enough to let me do that you deserve it'
