October 5, 200817 yr The power amulet allows for more frequent hits whilst still raising your hitting power along with your defence. A strength amulet lacks the addition to accuracy and defence; only raising your maximum hit. In the long run for training and such, the power amulet would prevail, but in pking the strength amulet might be chosen over the power amulet. I'd prefer the more balanced version however, as it is why I use a glory amulet. Click Here for my RSOF 99 Construction G&A thread! Post your support!
October 28, 200817 yr A power ammy+ rune gauntlets pretty much secures 1 extra damage anyways, so I prefer power, plus the prayer bonus is handy in clan wars
October 30, 200817 yr Power. This is the only amulet my F2P character has. The only one a F2P character needs!
November 6, 200817 yr ok ok in so many ways a power amulet just owns a str ammy.... gives attack and defence bonus, whilst only 4 less strength? well this is the popular opinion and I accept that.. however..my personal view is this..the attack bonus of f2p weapons is so low anyway, a +6 does make a difference..but it seems that you may hit your opponent 10% more often. A strength amulet obviously wont give you this bonus, but it makes you hit about 5% harder than a power amulet would.. depends on the character build..you simply cannot claim a power amulet is better for all players. Im 80 attack, 91 strength and 75 defence..I much prefer using a strength amulet in free to play due to the fact it allows me to hit 19 with rune scim without prayer or a str pot.. I also use a str ammy in members because it means I can hit 30 with abby whip no pray or pot too..(because of my gear) and barrows gloves and rune defender make up for the loss in attack. For me, str ammy..but I can see why many prefer power amulet. =] combat level:79
November 6, 200817 yr I like the power ammy; the attack bonus is nice. "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti
November 7, 200817 yr I once went to flesh crawlers on my pure or rune pure, I forget which one it was. But I noticed I was getting lower xp per time they went unaggressive, and I was hitting more 0s. But I was hitting 14's sometimes, which I only usually hit 13's while training. Then I realized that I was wearing a str amulet instead of a power. I just use str ammy when I know I want a high max hit/I'm feeling cheap when pking, and power for basically everything else.
November 8, 200817 yr Best weapon in f2p is the rune scim with a whopping 40 something attack bonus. Since thats all you have you NEED accuracy.
November 8, 200817 yr Definitely power amulet for the balanced increases. I've never been much of a strength fan anyways...
November 9, 200817 yr Strength ammy for training/solo pvp -- the higher hits REALLY count. No one cares if you have +6 more slash defence in a no armour fight but they do care if you can get the higher hit which could result in the KO. With 86 attack and 93 strength I hardly ever hit 0s while training at the giant spiders so it only makes sense to wear the strength ammy. When warring as a clan its a different story all together. The defence and prayer bonuses of the power ammy really help and the strength bonus is really uneeded.
November 10, 200817 yr Pures, being generally narrow minded and often [developmentally delayed]ed love strength amulets. Whereas ANYONE with a brain wears a power amulet for the accuracy bonus (though mages of course wear a magic amulet) OH S***! He/she/it is back!
November 10, 200817 yr Author the thing is that some ppl dont believe that a +6 bonus will really be that effective and they might as well have something that is a proven fact that they hit one higher. seeing how pvp worlds came out and some of u tifers r pking im asking this. against other players which do u use, str ammy or power ammy?
November 10, 200817 yr I recently switched to str amy all the time because: 1. I play clan wars and other things with friends often 2. It looks better with my zammy  3. I like to hit +1 to my max hit right now with it vs. Power amy 4. Hitting higher while training defence is nice verses not getting hit as much when I mostly train on mossies which I am almost double... In fact, I do have some pancake mix.
November 11, 200817 yr This topic really interested me, so I actually ran a test. I ran 6 tests, each an hour long. Half of the time I used a str ammy, the other half of the time I used the power ammy. On average, the power ammy pulled in about 1k or so more exp per hour than the str ammy did. [hide=Data]Power Ammy-39285 Str Ammy-37896[/hide] Also, in F2P, if you have Rune Gauntlets, the str bonus combined with the power ammy's str allows you to hit as high as if you had a str ammy. So basically the best option is to use a power amulet with rune gauntlets. (I hit the same with the strength amulet as I did the power amulet so long as I had my rune gauntlets equipped. November 27, 200817 yr Pures, being generally narrow minded and often [developmentally delayed] love strength amulets. Whereas ANYONE with a brain wears a power amulet for the accuracy bonus (though mages of course wear a magic amulet) Why do you take every attempt to have a rant at pures? From your post it seems YOU are the narrow minded one
From your post it seems YOU are the narrow minded one My opinion = What you said, except in a much cruder way. I tried using a str ammy and a power ammy on the strength pure recently. While I generally like the power ammy since statistically it should be better, I find I perform better with a str ammy on the pure. Despite that, though, I always use a power amulet since I always think "no use having high str if I don't hit"... and it's not like the power ammy gave 0 str, it's just 4 str lower for +6 of the other stats. You're being watched.
December 2, 200817 yr Author looking at all the different posts i can see that the power ammy won by alot. Now let me rephrase the question a bit... what would u use in f2p pvp?
December 2, 200817 yr Well, in my honest opinion, different amulets can be used for different purposes. You could laugh at a ranger using a strength amulet in pvp, and he just smiles and pulles out a rune 2h and k0es you. Maybe if he'd been using a power amulet, you would've been left standing with 1 hp, but now you're dead and he's the one picking up your sweet, sweet loot, or, more commonly, it would have made little to no difference . You can argue and argue all you want about the logistics of pures and pvp, and about accuracy and strength and defence until the cows come home, but the only loser is the person that has been forced to conform with the common trend. Everything has a purpose - it's up to the player to decide what that purpose is JOIN CHICKENSWEEPERS TODAY! December 3, 200817 yr Author well said. but how can u see what ur power ammy does for u? when u get hit 0. do u thank ur trusty def bonuses u got from ur amulet...? probably not. when u hit 1 hit higher then u normally would i think u can thank ur amulet for that. so in f2p which one do u use?
December 3, 200817 yr When I hit high, I don't tend to thank my amulet. I tend to thank god \ But yes, I do use the strength amulet for the slight chance it gives me an extra hitpoint in damage. That's probably because my strength is not exceptional compared to my attack and def (i.e. i'm as impure as you can get, im 77/83/70,) so I don't really need the effect of the power. But, sometimes I'll throw it on, especially when I'm in a clan, because it's not how much damage you dish out, more how much you can sustain in the midst of a clan war. That's the whole point of the jagex pvp update, it doesn't favour pures, it favours people who can last the longest in a pvp hotspot. So in the old style wildy, I definitely chose strength, whereas the decision these days is a bit harder. Then again, I don't wear gauntlets or use a zerker shield, so I could be doing so much more to improve my pvp -.- Get all of that? :ugeek: JOIN CHICKENSWEEPERS TODAY! December 3, 200817 yr When I hit high, I don't tend to thank my amulet. I tend to thank god lol! anyways, i think power is better than str ammy because when you're pking with no arm, defense and accuracy are still in play, without accuracy and only luck you will not be able to be consistently taking off hp and you will suffer from it, making you eat more than your opponent, power ammy +1 for prayer and also has defense (duh) but that's something that people miss, when you no arm, you dont take off the power ammy (duh) so you dont take off the defense that it gives!
December 3, 200817 yr The way you say it makes me think that you've overlooked the fact that, because there is no armor involved, there is more chance that you would hit higher, and as such, more chance that the strength amulet would activate to increase your max hit JOIN CHICKENSWEEPERS TODAY! December 3, 200817 yr I am currently using a amulet of power cause I am training, but if I was PKing then I would most likely use a amulet of strength just cause I like hitting them high numbers it just makes me feel all happy inside. :D
December 3, 200817 yr This may be off topic, but what the heck Lethargick, why do you have 1 def and 1 attk in your sig, yet your guy is wearing full sara with a r2h  JOIN CHICKENSWEEPERS TODAY!
