Hello miss.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

I find it necessary to check my phone every few minutes during awkward conversations, or awkward moments. I never got over my first long-term real relationship. I regret not taking more chances with certain people, as well as not being much of a risk taker in general. (That has changed as of late.) I regret not hanging with my friends when they want me to. (I'm not anti-social, but sometimes I miss out on a lot of fun parties, etc.) I secretly think I'm too nice, however, with my being nice, there comes the exact opposite, I'm too mean. I basically hold nothing back, and I wish I did sometimes, but I can't help it. There are other things, but I'm stressed for time, so I can't post them all. I'll throw them in later, though.

Lol I didn't know it was so common to pretend you're using your phone to avoid awkwardness. I take awkward situations head on as a sort of hobby. It's something to look back on and smile about, a couple weeks after the damage has subsided.

I usually just point out that it's an awkward moment with a bit of enthusiasm, smile and laugh. Not the kind of awkward laughter that makes things worse, the kind that after a second already makes me and the other side more comfortable. It breaks down tension and eliminates the moment altogether.

Kind of hard for me to explain this, I just did it once, a long time ago, when I was with a group of people who were strangers to each other and awkward silence was born.

People laughed almost immediately and the whole mood was more playful to everyone. I've been using it ever since.

Not sure if I got the message through, but meh...

God, for the past year anytime there's been even a slight break in the conversation, people would use the awkward turtle. It's like people are scared of silence.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
