I find the opposite to be true. The single loop where you wrap the other lace around it works much better for me (on the rare occasion I do use that method)

double loop is where you cross the laces like normal at first to tighten them, then you take each lace form a loop with each, then cross those like the first step, except they are loops.

 

 

 

 

This method is the one I find to be strongest, but I don't use it. This is the single loop method, NOT the double loop

 

 

 

Edit: I have a better way of explaining it. You know the method you use to double knot your shoe laces? I use that method to do my first knot.
