September 22, 200817 yr I have this odd feeling that we're going to have to fight Arrav. Maybe, after being killed my Zemouregal, he's now his undead slave. Seems plausible... I've just found proof... The man to our right of Zemouregal in that picture IS Arrav. Look at the first picture in The Legend of Arrav, Part IV... Arrav is wearing the same helmet! It doesn't look like his helmet.. the one in the lores has a [bleep]e thing coming out the top of it. Definatly his sword though. The Mahjarrat in the picture doesn't look like the one in the RWT picture much though, unfortunatly.
September 22, 200817 yr Well the land of dreams makes me think lunar diplomacy/ dream mentor. If that's the case we might fight by Cyrisus again. As for fighting Arrav I doubt it, it just doesnt seem like something jagex would do. Though like some previous quests it may be a split path. Either fight him, or say you worshop Zaros and help Zemouregal and Arrav take over the city. (though the city would still be there) Maybe we'll have an ancient magic competition :P . yeah i'm just shooting in the dark and throwing out random ideas. Ponies!
September 22, 200817 yr This is so odd. Reminds me of the Warcraft 3 storyline. :s lol how? About arthas who turned into undead? - Arthas became corrupted because he let revenge control himself. It was his own "choice" to murder stratholm, go north, claim frostmourne etc. From what I understood of the lores arrav didn't really have any choices he made (wrongly). First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me.
September 22, 200817 yr I understand All Fired Up and Shield of Arrav, but why Summer's End? And it doesn't seem right for Jagex to release 2 quests then have 2 sequels or quests related to that come out within months Considering the quests themselves are in development for months, chances are the basic storylines have been fleshed out for quite a while before that with what Jagex wants to do. Since they're always working on several quests at once (hence why we can get 2-3 quests in a month), it's not really that hard to believe that a sequel and a quest linked to that sequel could come out in the same month.
September 22, 200817 yr For some reason I have the feeling this is going to be epic. [insert birds flying in a circle here]Yes, that sig was annoying.

For Jagex to do sequels this quick is news to me. Maybe I haven't been paying attention much, but I don't think I've seen this happen before. At least not with 4 related quests. 2008 is nearly over, and they haven't released their big update they mentioned in the RWT thing yet, and so far this is the closest-looking thing to that. Although, that's beginning to sound alot more like their massive quest which I doubt, for some reason, will come out this year. So I'm guessing this must just be preperation, since I don't believe Jagex to do sequels so closely together without a reason.

No it was cabbage, everybody alched their pouches and Jagex was forced to rework the whole thing in 2 months. Of course batch 2 was just shallow window dressing, but hey the kids seem to like it.... :wall: To be honest, this is update I've been waiting for since I saw that wallpaper like one year ago. If its a jolly old free-for-all with hordes of undead and rewards like Dragon Plate then it will be "THE BEST UPDATE OF 2008" in my eyes. Of course, my expectations are too high seeing how summoning and that graphics update are... Exclusive Legacy Mode Player He just successfully trolled you with "courtesy" and managed to get a reaction out of you. The last time Jagex announced a sequel coming out soon after the previous in the series, it was Contact and that was over a year after the previous quest had come out. The Summer's End/Spirit of Summer series made it clear that they do have the ability to pump out a quest, and its sequel only a month or two apart, and this update has been in preparation for over a year now (longer than Recipe for Disaster), which means spirit of summer may have been in just as long if it is related.
September 23, 200817 yr Author This was taken from Post Bag 28. There's a post about the Mahjarrat and what they might be doing now. I think the post was created from a RS regular but for all I know, it could be mostly fact. If we take the details seriously, that would mean that the Mahjarrat Hazeel, Lucien, Enakhra and Zemouregal are all aligned with Zamorak. Where there is Zemouregal, there is Arrav. If we stick with the basic Arrav story line, then we can make a conclusion that Zemouregal will lead an army of undead to Varrock. But- If we look at this piece of information, one could imagine something much larger in comparison. Zamorakian and Zaronian Mahjarrats are overwhelmingly going to the north, I presume to the Wilderness. Why is this? I don't want to speculate too much but if this is true it will add to the storyline. This post is larger than it seems, click the hidden tab to read Post Bag 28 [hide=Click to Expand]POST BAG 28[/url]":bihth3uq] Dear readers, writers and researchers, These are dark times, indeed: each day I hear more reports of strange goings-on in Morytania, wicked deeds and foul murders in the west, unnatural creatures assaulting innocent wanderers, and worse things besides. Of special concern to me and my liege, King Roald, are the tales of the movements of the mahjarrat. Despite the fact that mighty Varrock has several times been threatened by these mysterious and evil creatures, we know shamefully little of what they are, where they come from and what their plans might be. We do, of course, know the Legend of Arrav, and a small scattering of other, shorter tales, but without an overview of their actions, the mahjarrat remain a terrifying prospect. To this end, I am compiling a collection of all of the myths of the Mahjarrat to present to King Roald. With luck, we will be able to predict their plans and, if necessary, work to confound them. So, with your extensive experience wandering the world and observing the subtleties of other cultures, I hope that you may be able to furnish me with your own thoughts on the history of these vile and manipulative fiends. Where are they from? What are they planning? How many remain to scar our wonderful world? Yours academically, Reldo Dear Reldo This is actually my second response to your letter. The first one I realised was unsatisfying to your request. Firstly, it was too long, secondly, it was dealing with many more conflicts that the Mahjarrat, and I realised that the Mahjarrats history and what has happened to them that you were interested in knowing. And so, without further delay, heres my version, based around historical facts, stories and events that I have laid my eyes and ears upon. The Mahjarrat is a race of strong warriors, who originally came from another world, known to us only as Freneskae. This world was a world of constant warfare, which is why the Mahjarrat have gone to become as strong as they are. The Mahjarrat are not by any means immortal, but their strength is far superior to most of the beings in RuneScape, and their lifespan far longer than humans. When the Mahjarrat first came to this world, they served under the desert god Ichlarin, the god of the dead. Then one day, during the second age, another god approached them and offered them to serve under his rule, this god was the dread lord Zaros, a name which has almost been forgotten by the world, as the Saradominists have done everything in their power to delete all traces of his existence throughout the ages. The Mahjarrat Azzanadra said of Zaros that this god understood the Mahjarrat and their ways much better than Ichlarin, and that Ichlarin had never controlled the Mahjarrat, and in all honesty, I dont think any god could possibly control the Mahjarrat against their will. The Mahjarrat eventually abandoned Ichlarin and joined forces with Zaros, and with them in his army he quickly became the ruler of large parts of the land. It was when Zaros had become the strongest of Gods that Zamorak, merely a mortal Mahjarrat at the time and the general of Zaros forces, had grown power hungry. Zamorak wished to take the power for himself, and so, with the help of some fellow Mahjarrat and the Vampyre Lord Drakan, he managed to get his hands on the Staff of Armadyl, a very powerful weapon. Zamorak then encountered Zaros wielding the Godstaff of Armadyl in his hands, but even though Zamorak had the help of a God weapon, he was still not able to defeat Zaros. But it was then that Zaros tripped and fell onto the Godstaff of Armadyl which impaled him. A bright light was seen, and both began to fade out of existence. The battle was over and they were both gone, and as a result the Zarosian empire quickly fell to Saradomins forces without a god to defend it. But then one day Zamorak reappeared, reborn and now immortal. The Staff of Armadyl had transferred some of Zaros godly powers to Zamorak, and he was now a god himself. The following thing that happened was the God Wars between the god Saradomin, Zamorak, Bandos and Armadyl. While Zamorak and Zaros were gone, the Zamorakian and the Zarosian Mahjarrats fought, many were killed and more were trapped. Below I will explain about each individual Mahjarrat I have come to know of, who they are aligned to, and what have happened to them. Lets start with the Zamorakian Mahjarrats. Hazeel: Hazeel is one of the physically strong Mahjarrats, he was a good friend of Zamorak and helped him betray Zaros. Hazeel eventually gained the control of Ardougne, but was later overthrown by a mob and killed. Hazeel has later been resurrected and have headed north to meet with the other Mahjarrat. Lucien: Lucien is a physically weak Mahjarrat, he helped betay Zaros by casting a spell on the Godstaff of Armadyl so that Zaros could not feel its presence. Lucien recently tried to get his hands on the Godstaff of Armadyl once again, but I prevented him in doing so. Lucien is expected to be heading north to meet with the other Mahjarrat. Enakhra: Enakhra managed to trap the Zarosian Mahjarrat Akthanakos in a temple which she built as a dedication to her loyalty to Zamorak. I managed to free Akthanakos and they have both headed north to fight. Zemouregal: Zemouregal is known from the tale of Arrv, hes known to be able to infiltrate ones dreams and to be able to summon and control the undead. I speculate that Zemouregal is going to perform an attack on Varrock soon, and I fear that it will be with an undead Arrv by his side. Now, onto the Zarosian Mahjarrats. Azzanadra: Azzanadra is probably Zaros most loyal servant, and most likely also his strongest. Azzanadra is as close as a mortal can get to immortality, which is why he was trapped in a Pyramid, rather than killed. I managed to free Azzanadra from his prison during my travels, and in exchange he granted me the ability to use the Ancient Magick Spells of the Mahjarrat. I expect that Azzanadra will be heading north to fight the Zamorakian Mahjarrats. Akthanakos: Akthanakos was, as I mentioned earlier, trapped by Enakhra. After I freed him he went to battle with Enakhra, I expect that they have probably headed north. Sliske: Sliske is the last of the known Mahjarrat loyal to Zaros. He is known from the tale The Fall of the Six, and is the one who granted the Barrow Brothers their powers to fight Zamoraks evil hordes. I will continue to try to uncover more information about Sliske, but as of now this is all I know. Other possible Mahjarrat is the Oracle. She looks like Hazeel, and shes definitely been in this world for a long time, but I cant seem to figure out where her allegiance is and how shes connected to the others. I was once told by a wise gnome, who had the ability to see into the future, that amongst the Mahjarrat will be someone else, someone who does not belong there, someone who will fight them. I do not know who this person is, but I have a bad feeling that Im going to be involved further in this matter. I heard somewhere that there were about a 100 Mahjarrats when they first came to RuneScape, now, some mustve died from age, others in battle. I dont think we have yet uncovered all of the remaining Mahjarrat, but I dont think there are much more than 10 of them left. It has been many ages and they have been at war for most of them. I hope any of this have helped on your understanding of the Mahjarrat. So, until the dark times must be fought Baralai22, Adventurer[/hide]
September 23, 200817 yr Im betting my money that the big quest they mentioned will be quest number 150. I also hope this quest comes out tomorrow! \ : A notion that would be compelling if there were more than 144 quests currently in existence. I think the story of Arrav is really cool, but I also don't expect anything massive from this update - remember that either the undead will not reach varrock, or they will be repelled, since obviously jagex can't have a varrock filled with zombies after the quest is completed. If it is a big quest, it would have to be multi-part anyways. Could be wrong of course.
September 23, 200817 yr This is so odd. I never said anything about matching the exact thing. He throws the shield into the city, which saves the city, but he ends up dying instead. He is now one of the crazy dude's undead warriors. (= his champion) And now he (possibly) returns to Varrock to destroy it. In Warcraft, Arthas takes Frostmourne, becomes uber, saves his people momentarily, but in the end, became corrupted. He returns to pwn Loarderon(sp?) hard. Not an entire match, but it is a little alike, too alike which leads me to wonder if Jagex is competing with Blizzard too much. (Not WoW in that sense, but with Blizzard as a whole. Just kidding. :P)
September 23, 200817 yr Here's a picture in the Runescape vs RWT Development Diary. The caption states "Some character concept art for a piece of content we're aiming to release in 2008." Jagex has been planning this for no less than 8 months. By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .
September 23, 200817 yr No update today... D: Remember that there is another week in September, so, it could be released next week still. 11th to 99 Summoning85th to 99 Runecrafting

Remember that they dont have to update it around 1pm, they could do it at 5 pm CET. They do that sometimes. Also true. Either way, I can't wait for this quest to come out... Anyone notice that the quests have been getting harder (and more rewarding) recently? All Fired Up - Not so hard, but definitely rewarding post-quest (Ring of Fire, Flame Gloves, Inferno Adze) Summers End - Quite hard actually in terms of damage taken, and also rewarding post-quest (Experience boosts in multiple skills from portals in addition to the quest reward which was good to begin with, chance at 40-90m shields...) And from the way that this quest is sounding, it could be very good. 11th to 99 Summoning85th to 99 Runecrafting
September 24, 200817 yr Author Let's just anticipate that the update is gonna be by the end of the month, but prepare for it as if it will be tomorrow. In my case, it's all about the storyline and what changes (if any) the game might go through. I wonder if this will be the quest that will open up the PVP worlds. In other news, again I'm updating more information on the main post of the topic. Read through. If you have history from the RS site that you want to share, send them over! Provide links if possible. If you know of something in game, that would be great too. Thanks for posting

September 25, 200817 yr This looks entertaining. Im gonna look around this here Ok... Im not that good. But I have an anchor!!!
September 25, 200817 yr I would like to point out the the guy with the big sword is my avatar Also Im happy but also dreading this quest. Im happy because its been "promised" for a while and I also love new quests. But Im dreading it because its just going to be a awesome new quest with a cliff hanger that is going to take a year to get a sequel, not even a conclusion. Proud Owner Of A Quest Cape As Of 4/29/08
September 25, 200817 yr Anyone remember the necromancer by Port Sarim? Maybe, after this quest, he might reveal something more about necromancy. Maybe we might even get some new necromatic summons! Skeletal Dragon, anyone? If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?
