Next skill that's officially been killed - Prayer

I don't think thats quite possible to slow the grinder down though, since previously you had to put the bone in, grind, then fill the bucket and repeat...1 at a time...(Unless I'm really tired right now and not thinking right/Never knew you could put multiple bones in)

U could only do 1 bone at a time...which was really annoying when going for 60 prayer, no access to altar and didn't wanna buy more bones or kill more just to get the bones on the slow grind to 60, u could only do 1 at a time and it took 3 clicks for one pot of bonemeal :wall:...that is what really, really annoying :evil:

Just so that there's no doubt, Prayer was, by your own definition, killed back when Construction/Gilded Altars came out. Unlike the Ectofuntus, which you have to do ALL by yourself, you can have a friend light the lamps to get the highest bonus possible. Oh, and there's no annoying grinding process involved, either.

Actually, it died when they nerfed Pest Control.

 

I have found memories of going from 98 to 99 prayer at pest control.

 

Using bones with the altar is god awful.

 

I did that from like 70 something to 98.

 

Ectofuctus seems not to bad now, especially if its faster and more automated.

 

Now they just need a way to pipe slime up to the altar....

in the past you had to go downstairs get the ecto from pool then go back up put eachbone...grind it...put it in pots and keep repeating until you had the same number of ecto as you did pots

 

 

 

now i think its just a case of going and getting a glass of water/eating some crisps/ changing the channel while the bones are being grinded

Have you even tried out Grind-x, it just makes it require slightly less clicking and unless you were afking while doing it normally, makes it no slower. And you still have to go and get the ecto from downstairs, this is only to do with grinding the bones!! :wall:

 

 

 

 

 

It's still waay better to use a guilded alter.

Now i have used it: and i can tell you this. I used over 80M cash (Cash dosen't come by it self)...and i always got numb in my hands/and got very tired and overworked my wrist.

 

 

 

As for Ectofundus: it's not easy...

 

 

 

You still need to gather Bucket of slime...and god knows that take time. But i bet Ectofundus is cheaper option, but gilded is still fastest from where i stand.

In the time it takes you to do one load of ecto, I can get double the xp on guilded alters, so, please, shut up before you even know what your talking about. Ok, so prayer is not as easy as cooking, but what most people compare prayer to is, well, prayer, and particularly the old-school way of training it- and in that sense you are talking absolute crap.

 

 

 

Compared to praying bones gilded altar is 3.5 times cheaper and 2.5 times faster, and compared to the old ecto, altar is 10 times as fast and still a bit cheaper. If you say your fingers got numb getting prayer up with using the gilded altar then that's just ridiculous compared to what most oldschool prayers had to go through.

Anyways, I don't see how this a downside. I'm 99 prayer and the easier it is to train it the better. More high levels = more high level updates. Also like others say, guilded altar takes next to no time, not to mention the cheap price of marrentils. This update just means the people that don't have the con level to make a guilded altar, can get prayer up easier than they could before. Either way it's still a win, and the more high levels, the better.

So old school can get the hell lost.

I just tested the automated proces.

 

It takes 4-5 minutes to get a load done, in other words, 4.5k exp every 4-5 minutes.

 

It's nowhere faster than before.

Was there one singe point in the whole piece you wrote? I argued that prayer is actually dead easy now and you start telling me to never remember what was so good about the game most of the prayers used to love. I'm sorry but you and your overworked wrist(which isn't very ethical to be talked about on these forums) should accept that talking about the old is never bad- it helps us to remember and learn from the days far gone. In this situation for example, comparing the old and new versions of training methods helps me to explain why you are wrong in thinking that prayer is a hard skill.

this update actually helped me

 

 

 

I stockpiled 1250 ectoplasm back when buckets of slime were still sold on charter ships

 

but they cant be noted so they were too much of a pain to drop

 

 

 

I can't see this as a terribly viable source of prayer xp unless you despise finding open gilded altars or just happen to have a stockpile of ectoplasm lying around

Ecto is known to be slow, even with grind X, it doesn't change much. A skill is "killed" when something huge happens to it making it times easier than before. This is not it.

Well let me tell you something: Whenever a skill is "HARD", to a oldschool it's "Extra Hard". Now that's not my problem and everything a skill gets a update: which somehow gives a other way of leveling it.

You don't even know if this raises the EXP per HR significantly enough to warrant the extra hours spent sloshing through and gathering ectoplasm + bone meal for an extra what, 60xp per bone?

 

 

 

Altar's always going to be the choice for me. There's always an open one and I never have to collect ectoplasm again.

 

 

 

Now if they still allowed you to BUY ectoplasm from the Charter Ships and this update came out...then I might've had something to squawk about with you ;)
