The New Spells

Those spells are really overpowered. Magic shouldn't beat ranged, but now, it can easily do so. These spells should only affect Melee.

 

 

 

That's debatable, because rangers can easily beat warriors. The triangle is pretty nonexistent at this point.

actually melee is still on top since it's about on par with ranged in terms of KO ability (which magic still lacks), but the armor has more defense

 

 

 

miasmic spells strike me as being really powerful - so powerful that anyone hit by one will run

the spell sounds interessting, you effectively make melee and range hit about the same as what you can do yourself.

 

mage cant ko and neither can a ranger or melee if there attacking 50% slower. So it comes down to who runs away first or who runs outa food first.

 

 

 

The only time it really shines is when your opponent doesnt use the spell against you yourself so you can range or mage aa you wish but they themselves will be attacking 50% slower.

 

 

 

its a good addition to the range + mage section of hybrids. you can force your oppoenent to be attacking 50% slower unless they mage you in which case you can simply whack on your dhide and range em back.

 

 

 

To avoid the 1hour timelimit affecting you so much simply wear it to put the effect on your oppoenet then switch to crossbow and continue as you would of used to do pre update.

I love how Ranged got left out again in this entire PvP update, their specials are totally rubbish compared to the Melee ones and the Magic Staff abilities lol.

 

 

 

The only decent-ish weapon they have is the new thrown-axes lol.

I agree. Infact if it were up to me, I would make a few changes myself.

 

 

 

Currently the staff is much to hard to obtain, and it will even harder to get as less and less people pk after the initial rush of everyone trying the new pvp.

 

 

 

For this reason I think the spells should be castable with just the runes, and the staff is the only thing that can auto-cast the spells.

 

 

 

And to balance that, I agree it should be a 0-25% reduction against rangers and 50% against melee.

i like the concept of the phantom javelin. I havent seen it in action, but its interesting. I have always thought they should have a Diseased dagger. To cause your stats to go down slowly, this physical HP damage is still interesting.

 

 

 

 

 

i guess ill wait to judge it further until i see/use it.

Corrupt dragon equiptment and these new ancient armours seem useless. First of all its implied that these items are rare and second a 10m item for an hour. I usually use my items for longer than that... jagex needs to either make the armour/weapons rechargable. Maybe a point system a kill in pvp = 1 hour charge token. Or non-degradable at all.

You'd be nuts not to pk with these spells, despite the cost of the staff.

 

 

 

I guess if your PKing only for fun and no profit.

 

 

 

Anyone that buys any of the new equipment is insane in thinking they will gain money back + profit (unless they got real lucky...)

 

 

 

If someone is PKing with these for fun, then yes, total ownage.

Depends how many fights you can use it for. I'm thinking if you can barrage, you might cast miasmic barrage 4-5 times per fight, maybe less if you want to conserve it. That might be less than a minute of wielding time total, so you could get more than 60 fights out of it. Could be worth it if you kill a high percentage of your attempted PKs.

Well, these new spells do give magic a new step to make magic viable in combat finally. I find no problem with them, minus the cost of the staff, but that will lower once all this hype dies down. This staff does hinder dark bow'ers ridiculously, but range has the fastest weapons: magic short, dragon darts, obby rings, so mages still won't be able to "own" rangers. This does give magic a much needed boost again melee.

When we say 'useless' we don't mean literally, we mean that there are no common uses for them, such as the nature rune (high alch) and the blood rune (ice barrage). Shadow spells aren't commonly used, although they are underrated.

 

 

 

Have to admit though, this spell is the way to destroy anyone holding a godsword.
