What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?

Featured Replies

My 360 broke completely before I could finish Oblivion, so I started a new game of Dark Cloud 2. I forgot how much there is to do in this game. [bleep] Oblivion.

EDIT: Wow, now this game doesn't work either. [bleep] technology.

Oblivion is fun but vanilla (as i've learned to call it) is kinda dull. I played it on the PS3 and the computer. I didn't see anything noticeable in the PS3 version but the computer version is loaded with bugs, the first you probably run into is it crashes when you level up, so you can't level up, and there's not an official patch for it. How is it on the 360? Though I found the shivering isles to be great. And not for content, all the enemies were easy. I loved listening to Sheogorath.

With vanilla, archery and magic kind of sucks, as is the case with most games; they cater to melee styles, as i've noticed a lot. Kind of like dragon age, I have it for PS3 but it just seems like i'd have so much fun if I had a modded version on computer. It's a little short although the first time I played and selected normal mode I was surprised by how hard it was for a 'normal'. I'd be doing just fine against the enemies and then they'd throw an insanely hard fight in, out of nowhere. There's supposed to be a version coming out on the 26th with all the DLC like oblivion: GOTY had, I might pick that up for pc.

That being said i'm playing dragon age actually. Was a rogue, then I wanted to try a mage, then I wanted to try warrior. questions, why can you not start off as a apostate? Why dont you pick your specialization at the beginning of the game, it'd make sense. Why can you choose two specializations? Why cant you shake off the dogs or spiders when they knock you down and start to eat you, I've lost count of how many times my tank has died due to that and screwed the rest of my party over. The one person you get who can revive uses mp like a [bleep] and can't conserve mp for when you need it.

  • Yeah, it's pretty awesome. The game is called "I'm Clearly Not Paying Attention: Wrong Sub-Forum Addition". It's gotten some pretty positive reviews so far, and the PC port is spectacular.

How is it on the 360?

No major glitches as far as I know - just some graphical issues.

I don't like Oblivion's game play. Final Fantasy is much more my style of RPG. My biggest complaint about Oblivion is the ever so awkward combat.

If you played it on PC, I'm pretty sure there's a mod that overhauls the whole combat/magic system.

But alas. D:

There are at least four that overhaul the combat system entirely, and even one that combines them all. Plus a bunch of smaller ones that work on specific areas of it.

I personally have the realistic fatigue, eagle eye, some magic one that I forget the name of. Basically realistic fatigue just randomly saps all your fatigue and then you fall down, unable to move. I can't count how many times i've died due to that. Running, my fatigue looks fine, completely full, and all the sudden I fall over and a wolf kills me. (I run away from wolves, they're not usually worth my time)

Eagle eye is awesome for archery. Makes the sneak attacks with archery dependent on your marksman skill, and changes how your arrows fly.

My magic mod changes a few things actually, built on 4 other mods. Changes power of spells, creates new spells, changes enchanting values, and changes how you get spells. You still buy them, but now you can only buy some based on what major skills you have. Like if you don't have destruction as a main skill, you won't see some destruction spells, while you still will see some because the mod takes spells beyond magic schools. You get spells for having marksman, blades, armorer, etc. It's a nice touch. Also it adds magical sneak attacks.

I wish I knew how to create mods because i've seen some things myself that could use some alterations. Like magic staffs. After the enchantment is gone, it's useless you cant even attack with it. I haven't seen a mod that messes with blocking, if an enemy hits your shield or weapon why do you die, did the energy from their hit travel through your arm directly to your heart? Conjuration, even with my magic mod mentioned above is all but useless. I summon something, the enemy still kills me and my summon just stands there while it happens. I'd like to see something to help with that. I was thinking during summoning you actually swap places with the summon, and get to play as the summon with their skills. And i'm not sure if this is due to the better cities mod or not but the arcane university has 4 fires when you enter it and lags me like hell.

Playing Dark Cloud 1 until the disc decides to stop working. It's scary because Dark Cloud 2 doesn't work and that disc is in much better condition than this one.

EDIT: Well... at least it stopped working less than 5 minutes in. :)

Gonna get Kingdom Hearts:BBS tomorrow I think. Not too sure, although there are quite a few at uni who play, so...

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

It's generally a good idea to stop playing RPGs if your console doesn't like them. ;)

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

All my other PS2 games suck though.

I finally got that Megaman 8-Bit game to work. Yes! I can game again.

My biggest complain is the levelling system (how you level and the enemies level, but uselsss skills count towards it too). But theers a mod to overhaul that one too too..

^^ I hated that too. One of my favorite things about RPGs is the progression system - you get your ass kicked by big bad foes, you train up, and then you topple the same foe that gave you trouble. And don't get me started on the major/minor skill thing.

Basically there is a mod to change almost everything you hate. Though I forgot to get that mod that changes it so enemies don't leave with you and normal bandits don't carry around all powerful weapons. I want that one and there's one other one that messes with enemy levels that makes it so it isn't all built for you, some enemies you won't be able to kill at level 1, etc. Thanks for reminding me. Basically a modded oblivion is an entirely different game experience from vanilla.

Though some mods I can't use without Wyre Bash, I hate using Wyre Bash. Why cant they just make everything Omod.

I've found it easier to do all that manually.

I decided, before pulling my hair out with the millions of soft resets I'll have to deal with for a perfect FF9 play through, I'm going to go for a perfect FF8 file instead.

So today I downloaded the demo for Bioshock on my PS3.

Hooooooooooly [cabbage]! I know where my next $40's going!

Better to rent it really.

I'm playing through the new Castlevania a bit.

Nah, I like to keep games so I can play them again whenever I want. There are a few games I've played through every year or two for about 10 years now.

If you're going to pay $40 for Bioshock you've been done, its dirt cheap now.

Last game I bought was Afro Samurai. What a let down. Good thing it was only $10. I'm currently playing Pokemon Heart Gold for the umpteenth time. :) Looking into that Pokemon World Online thing, sounds fun.

In spirit of the nearing halloween, I've downloaded Super Ghouls and Ghosts and Castlevania Rondo of Blood.

Still haven't touched G&G, but Finished Rondo of Blood and dang was it hard. I had to play with mario in the clock tower, i woulnd't hit the boss with Belmond

Got HL2:lost Coast and HL:Deathmatch for free on steam :D

Yeah I hadn't researched at all, I just remembered that at Gamestop it was around $40. Saw it's $15 on Amazon, so I know where I'm getting it :P I'll probably buy it with Fallout 3 so I can get free shipping.
