It seems the Times is very mysterious on how it works to many. :-#

I just want to cover some things more as an FYI to those making suggestions.

The Tip.It Times is produced by the Editorial Staff. Only one crew member, is assigned to the Times as it needs to be added to the website and such. An admin or 2 usually are part of the Administration of and are active in discussion. A schedule is made every few months assigning weeks to different writers leaving a few slots open for guest submissions. So if you submit a article bear in mind, we are scheduled 2 months in advance unless a writer is unable to write his submission due to sickness ect. After the article is written it is then reviewed by members of the editorial panel, who look for spelling errors and such. Once this process it is coded into html and a forum and website announcement is prepared and released shortly thereafter. It is a multiple step process that takes a lot of time on everyone's part.

When a guest article is received it is then reviewed and decided if it can be backed by Tip.It. If so, it is approved and then put on the To be Scheduled list.

Guest articles are greatly appreciated as it does give a new view to the Times, something that can be hard with a smaller staff. So please feel free to submit them.

There have been a few suggestions thus far on this thread that are awesome and can be expected in the near future.

Keep up the good work!

I read every single one <3:

To the person who was wondering about getting a Yogosun interview, there already is one. I think a Gertjaars interview would be nice.

To the person who complained about the editorials being opinionated, they're editorials.

Editoral- noun

1. an article in a newspaper or other periodical presenting the opinion of the publisher, editor, or editors.

Edit: I ran across and interesting thing with MySQL or wtf it is. The pronunciation was copied with the definition, and it said I had an incorrect string value. It wouldn't let me post until I deleted it. :?

I read every one. No matter the topic I read them. I have gotten new ideas for game play from them and if nothing else it gives me a 5 to 10 minute break from working on a skill that has gotten boring. Like almost everyone i do have a few ideas to improve them.

1) How about once a month or every 6 weeks have it be a novel type. The adventures of a fictional player in runescape. Getting started, getting quests done and after a while getting that first "99." I don't mean that it should follow a real player but if need be it could.

2) Interviews. Follow up's and new players would be great.

3) With all the people that use tip it every day why not put up one from us more often. As I see it now all we can do is comment on one that already has been made. Sure you can't pick them all but there have to be a few non tip it mods that would love to write them every now and then.

4) My final idea is unless they are an interview, bring "the funny" I am not saying that they have to be a comedy but not so serious. This might be the hardest part of all. You can't teach funny and not everything that is funny for me would be funny for someone else. Here is the thing. For me it seams that they have gotten heavy.

I will still read them all and enjoy the time that I do. Keep up the good work!!

To be honest I think the tip.it times has lost its touch some what.

The initial articles back with the original "Editor" were always well written, beautifully thought out and offered a balanced over view of things.

Of late, particularly with the guest writers, articles have either been about things that you can say all that needs to be said in a paragraph therefore creating a long winded and pointless read in the article or have been poorly written with sentences or ordering of points that requires two or three reads to understand what they are getting at. But worst of all of late literally none of the articles give a balanced view, they spout off THEIR view alone and give no consideration to any other view point or if they do they belittle that view point rather than take it as an equal.

There still are a few gems of articles but for most articles published recently after a skim read I see the bias and poor quality and simply do not read them.

Not relevant to the topic but,

Edit: I ran across and interesting thing with MySQL or wtf it is. The pronunciation was copied with the definition, and it said I had an incorrect string value. It wouldn't let me post until I deleted it. :?

It showed the message because it was an incorrect string, the pronunciation probably had special characters which the forum is supposed to deny.

It is not that the articles are poorly written - I'd say the majority are written quite well - it is that good topics are now few and far between. There just isn't much going on with Runescape that would [bleep]e interest in readers. I'm sure that eventually a new topic will come up, probably caused by an update by Jagex, but really, worthy news is just lacking right now. I mean, look at the track record of the Tip.It Times - 156 articles written in over 3 years, almost an article every week since The Times began. I think it was inevitable, at the pace the boys and girls behind the production of The Times were going, that the topic well would run dry for a [hopefully] short period of time. I think what needs to be done is appreciation given to anyone who helped contribute, because quite honestly, being able to give us a quality article a week for 3 years is quite amazing work and dedication.

So, thank you, to anyone who was ever involved with The Tip.It Times. They have been a joy to read, and I hope I will be able to say the same in the future.

Now, what has happened to The Editor? The last article written by The Editor was on May 4th, about FunOrb. If anything, I'd like some more clues as to the identity of said Editor, unless I've been away from General Discussion long enough to miss something.

Oh, and I'm proud to say that I have read every Tip.It Times article released.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

I like the tip.it times they're pretty interesting most are pretty good, and writers know what they're talking about so i have no complaints

As the saying goes: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, i disagree i can think of plenty of injuries that won't make you stronger.

We changed policies on the editor, edit: top writers wrote under the name. (or used to and will still continue to)

I will be writing more objectively, and see how it turns out. (I generally write better objectively anyways)

Thanks for your suppport

"Everyone" did not write representing "The Editor" in Times past. The account has been passed down to top select writers and will continue to do so. The Editor began with an un-named individual and then was passed to a few select writers. The Editorial Staff has done a fantastic job taking over as the Times it can no longer be done by 2 users. Having a diverse staff helps to get a broad view of topics. Looking at some of the discussion on this thread I am looking forward to the changes that are going to be taking place in the near future. The Times have been great in history, present and future!

I commend all those who have contributed to this thread thus far and promise some major changes in the near future!

I read every issue, though admittedly I enjoy some more than others.

I think it would be cool if they were more often, personally.. Nobody has to read them if they don't want too, but I enjoy it. The best ones are about srs bsn issues, in my opinion. There was one on the economy about a month back that was the best one I'd read for a long while. I'd like tip.it to make it easier for *new* writers to have a bash though. Not every article needs to be posted (if you want to be picky), but it's nice to see some fresh writers every week.

'Tis I, 'tis Vindice, 'tis I!

I remember the "The Mysterious Editor" thread. I was so anxious to know who the Editor was at that moment, and when the torch was passed, who that one was. I never found out :wall:

Lol I feel privileged in that I know who the original editor was!

it just happened to coincide with when I was a briefly tip.it crewbie, kept to my word and didn't spill the beans to anyone either.

I read the articles when I am on Tip.it, and they are good articles. :D

After looking at other posts, I think they have covered most-to-all of what I was going to say.

Which is both good and bad I guess... :|

I feel that the tip.it Times has got worse since the original Editor left.

However, I still read every Sunday, out of habit, quite sad really. I do feel that the articles don't have the same sense of objectivity as before, and that recently all that seems to be talked about is combat. I would personally like to see a few more discussing quest storylines.
