November 27, 200817 yr Who thinks that the Quest Cape will actually be respected now that the grand master quest (While Guthix Sleeps) came out? I do, it deserves it. 99 Cooking achieved Sunday, September 13th, 2009.99 Woodcutting achieved Friday, December 11th, 2009.All skills above 50, July 25th, 2008.All quests completed as of March 23rd, 2009.
November 27, 200817 yr ...It's still a noob cape. Quests take no skill, especially since a large part of quests is running around Runescape playing delivery boy/girl with the odd battle thrown in here and there. Edit: And the highest level you need for a quest is like 75, right? That's like 1/12th the experience of 99, iirc.

I've always thought about that, but with the new quest, do you still think it's worthless? Looking at the quest req's - mostly mourning's end pt 2, one of my last 3 req's, is already a killer to get. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]
November 27, 200817 yr Doing quests takes patience, and without guides it would take alot longer to do. With 99s you know exactly what you have to do to reach the desired level, and once you reach 99 there is a limit - unlike the quest cape. In my eyes i see buyable skills less than i do quest cape (if that makes sense) I think anyone who has/had a quest cape in the past should be respected Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!
November 27, 200817 yr A quest cape ensures that it's wearer has a fairly balanced out skills. A quest cape allows it's wearer to know about Runescape history and it's map. A quest cape cannot be bought. A quest cape is never permanent, unlike other skills capes new quests get released and the wearer must complete that quest again. Yes, it has got more respected but people will still say that it's "noob", however I can bet that these people are the ones without quest capes and usually have a skill cape. 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00 Break the Walls down!

Edit: And the highest level you need for a quest is like 75, right? That's like 1/12th the experience of 99, iirc. Alot of skills take 'no skill', just alot of time, patience and grinding. So, by your definition, runecrafting cape is a noob cape? Most of it is running around to and fro.
November 27, 200817 yr I have always respected the quest cape, but certainly the addition of a grandmaster quest gives it new life, so to speak. "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti

November 27, 200817 yr The requirements for the new quest has many people with multiple 99s scurrying about doing quests which made me giggle. Those who were ready for it, just went in blind and did the quest, much more fun without a guide tbh. It was a fun quest, and sad, and scary, and had me sitting on the edge of my chair all night long to finish it lol. Requiring max quest points plus all those high skills, makes the quest cape much harder than most capes in the game. I have many 99's but I am more proud that I can wear my Quest Cape if I chose, I know the whole of Runescape and its history in detail due to it. I admit Runecrafting and perhaps Slayer is harder, but look at both of them, Runecrafting is grinding away running back and forth in the same location, and Slayer has a limit to locations in the long run, and you find yourself repeating tasks over and over. Quests are different every time, variety is the spice of life. BTW both Slayer and RC are my favorite skills. I admire anyone who has a skill cape of any type, and anyone who hasn't too, just for being great people.

November 27, 200817 yr I lost my respect for Quest Cape out of jealousy. :? Free 10M + 400k experience. Hacked on January 5, 2007 --> Lost: 56.4M, Santa Hat, Purple Partyhat, Green Partyhat, Christmas Crackerpeople who get rich and do it legit like joob and I always get f'd over in the end.
November 27, 200817 yr I havnt noticed myself much that has changed? 75 magic? Its quite a simple skill if anyone went to the effort to raise it. The quest itself was long but not devastating. I could of easily done it with lower combat stats. The only high level content really is the reward but that has no relevance to the quest cape itself. It was a very interesting textual quest telling us many things with some tricky annoying puzzles but if you already had a quest cape the requirements seem pretty easy.. Even if you dont have them they are easy enough to get. So although the quest was fine I dont think the requirements to make it respected -imo- have changed squat. It obviously points out people who like quests though..Without much skill needed. Not compared to a half decent 99 anyway. I dont know what the new experience requirement in total is but its probably not even lvl 92 experience. Personally I dont mind the requirements but I would of liked some extensions to the quest. Extra rewards for higher skills that you put effort in for. Obviously the reward was very generous though but simply xp. I didnt use a guide btw for this quest as I knew it was meant to be a biggy. I do usually as its annoying to be a delivery boy. My perspective is also somewhat different as I do quests on release.. I always had them all done and didnt really have to focus on quests completion at all. Probably different for someone who did lol. As there are alot now.. I dont consider this quest the hardest but I consider it the most beautifully created and interesting quest. I like reading stuff and it built up quite nicely. November 27, 200817 yr I'm going to do all those quests for just the reward now, even if it takes me a long time I get a 10m (hopefully still that much my the time I do it) reward at the end which is so much better than any cape in my opinion

Quest cape also requires max quest point, so I dont get why this quest should make quset cape harder. Anyway, I think the grandmaster quest hasnt added anything extra to the quest cape. Let's face it, riddle wise, the quest wasnt hard. Boss-wise, it wasnt hard too, I used 2 sharks for the 2 fights. What's left? The length of the quest. Is it long? For one single quest, yes, but if you add it to the hours you had already spent doing the other quests, it's nothign. However, even BEFORE this quest, quest cape is much harder (more hours) than a lot of skill capes. A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!

November 27, 200817 yr It'll be respected a lot more than it was previously for the next week or so. Oce guides start coming out the respect will go down, but still be respected slightly more 621st person to achieve 99 slayer on December 3rd, 2007177th person to 99 summoning on June 21st, 2008

And I don't doubt it is, which is why a fletching cape isn't that much of an accomplishment, either. Smithing, herblore, slayer, runecrafting, summoning and construction are probably the better skill capes, recognition wise.
November 27, 200817 yr Can we take it the opposite way ? How to transport that fast the quest that unlock the spell/jewel ? How to skill that fast without that specific area that provides a bank just near some ressources ? How even to start that skill without some of those starting quests ? Maybe you see each single quest have a function : unlock items and areas that allow you to go deeper in the game. And it's often very well done with nice stories you are part of. Questing comes along skilling... and is a key for doing it faster. I also consider it like a skill. I wear my quest cape the same way of my other skill ones : only at meetings of just after getting it for like a couple of hours (of cource except one of my trimmed i use for combat). Anyway, most of the time, you'll meet me in armour + trimmed or wearing nothing except spottier cape + boots of lightness and a bird running on my back... It's hard for many, but i prefer the respect i get from from my attitude to the one i get from my items. Oh baby light the dark side...
November 27, 200817 yr Even before this update I thought that the quest cape should be respected. It's a big achievement to complete all the quests in RS. But of course the QC should be even more respected now, when you need to do this new quest aswell to get it. Can't wait until I get that cape myself :) Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
