Wee Man
In runescape, there is an unwritten rule: "Anyone with a lower level than you, either in a skill or in combat, is a noob" "Anyone with a higher level than you, either in a skill or in combat, is a no lifer" You can guarentee that a lot people, usually unknowingly, follow these rules. Obviously these two statements are complete and utter rubbish. I define a noob (in runescape) as: 1. Someone who wants a quick and easy way to everything or someone who doesn't want to put any effort into what they are doing. 2. Someone acting in a rude or disrespectful manner towards other players. Lots of people assume players with low combat levels are noobs, this is cleary incorrect as they could be new to the game or a skiller. Then there are people who make up stupid catorgaries of noobs, here are some examples: Defence Noob Attack Noob (Insert skill here) Noob Pest Control Noob Level 3 Noob Quest Noob Skill Cape Noob (yes i've heard someone say it) Skiller Noob Combat Noob PK Noob DDS Noob AGS Noob (Insert Weapon here) Noob The list is endless, what i would is like for people to think before they label someone as a "noob", and try to follow my definition of a "noob". (Unless ,of course, you disagree with it.) Hope you enjoyed reading and please post your opinions and experiences with the word "noob" (If anyone has a better definition of a noob please post) \ :D

Hmm, im guessing that was ment to be funny, but i've not got a clue what you ment by it  It was sarcasm. The internet is not supposed to give you a nice day. I disagree with the whole term noob, as everyone has a different style of play and some people are not as inclined to video games as others. On the other hand, i will sometimes label people using cheap or inefficient tactics at pking or training spots as noobs, however, I do usually regret it. I has herd, that lesser demons, MAY or may not, drop tormented demons. \:D/  :x :D :o  :? 8-) Due to a typo, I am now stuck with 1k dragon darts and no buyer. Hajuk
Jagex define noob as a new person to the game. lets use that That isn't actually Jagex' definition, it's the most common definition for it, so that's what they put it down as. Although the definition is actually wrong. Fire cape achieved - 19/12/08 | 99 Cooking achieved - 31/8/
Bauke
Noob doesn't have a meaning anymore. It originally comes from the word "newbie" which pretty much means "new player". Since the word got abused by people who probably got annoyed and found the need to use to swear or offend someone, the word noob doesn't mean anything anymore. And every attempt to stop trying to label people as noobs will probably be futile. The most people that use the word noob in every context possible aren't the brightest people around. T. Skill
Jagex define noob as a new person to the game. Lets use that But the "correct" term for a new person to the game is actually "newb" not "noob". Which is really just newbie shortened. But in all actuality, what WeeMan is saying makes sense as, and it has been said many times before, "noob is an attitude and not a level. Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?
spyderownzyou
newb is a new player noob is normally a term for annoying/stupid person, or there mindset and narb...you should look it up tbh ;) maybe you'd stop using it  http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=narb&defid=579622 You only live twice. Cha0sx
I use the term 'noob' to represent clueless, inexperienced people. Not necessarily based on levels. Your knowledge and the truth of what you speak mean a lot to me. If you are a level 3 but don't say BS and know what you are talking about and don't annoy people, then to me you are not a noob. Noob is an attitute, this has been said many times by many many people.

Seogege
To anyone who says JAGeX actually defines noobs as new players, that is not correct. Found both in their Knowledge Base and Music Selection is the word Newbie, but no where is "noob" actually found (not counting the Rules section). Newbies are the new players, noobs are the immature ones. Enough of that, onto my experiences. Before the trade limit was enforced, I used to spend a lot of time training construction and selling the furniture. Back then you could actually make money off of oak furniture, before it was only worth 5 gp a piece. A person wanted to buy a bunch for a ridiculously low price (long time ago mind you) and I said no so he called me a noob. I find that when people don't get what they want, they call people noobs. Low levels can also call high levels noobs for calling them noobs too, which I find becomes an all out flame war. I wish that this would stop somehow but you get used to it... 3hitm4g3u
Amount of times I've been called a strength noob is probably equal to the amount of times I've called someone a defence noob, so I can't complain.
