I'm all fine and dandy with some [wagon] choosing his to change his own name to that. But naming a child who has no say in it that? It's just cruelty and really should be illegal to name a child such things.

Those parents are idiots if they think that this is a clever little stand against prejudice and bias. Who on earth could possibly say they loved their child then give him the name that possibly has the worst connotations of any other? If they don't change it that child should be taken off them.

Hitler wasn't always a bad man, he was even named Time's man of the year before. He did alot of good things, and alot of bad, but people only realize the bad.

Adolf Hitler's descendants agreed to have their last name changed when they moved to the U.S.

I really feel sorry for this guy. If I were him I would literally beg my parents to change my name and if they didn't comply do it on my 18th birthday.

First off, I'm Jewish, and I personally wouldn't take offense to the name. But I know a lot of my family would. Its not just a name, sadly, it stands for something more whether people like it or not.

 

 

 

Having said this, if I was the grocery store cake designer, I wouldn't refuse to make the cake, its free speech. Heck, I've seen KKK meetings in real life, and I honestly don't care, its a right given to all American citizens and businesses public and private should respect it.

 

 

 

As for the parents, they seem like total imbeciles. For one, what college or job would want to have someone named Adolf Hitler in their establishment, the parents basically ruined his life unless he takes the action to change his name. This whole ordeal just seems like a cry for attention for the family, and a need for making up for some past event/s in the parents lives that made them feel bleak or "regular", so why not make your son REALLY DIFFERENT.

 

Also, the way the parents talked made them seem really stupid, going out of their way to say: "Oh no, no we're not racist, why would we let mixed races in our house, huh?"

Wow, I thought Ben Dover would be a bad name to live with, but Adolf Hitler? Naming children just isn't these people's strong suit I guess. Much too much healing needed yet for this name to be used, I hope these kids don't get denied entrance into schools due to their names.

Anyways, I'm for having the children's (all of them) names changed and possibly having them taken from their parents. You don't love your kid if you name him Adolf Hitler and you shouldn't have kids if you don't love them.

i agree with the message not with how he went about doing it. although the way he sent his message is enforcing his point. whats that say when you people are getting so worked up over a name?? i'm sure that their have been other adolf's somewhere in history just like there have been other bush's and yet this kid who has done nothing wrong, who probably won't even know about his names legacy until later on in life? this kid will probably be teased, tormented, and ridaculed for his entire life for something that happened when his parents probably weren't born. again the parents went about it cruelly but this is one of the best ways i've seen so far to get across the point of intolerance that this world has.

I don't see the problem, it's only a name. It's only a value for a person to verbally identify themselves. If someone has a mental confrontation with that value, it's that individuals problem.
