Father named child Adolf Hitler, and asks for tolerance

Featured Replies

I agree with Barihawk. It's pure ignorance to think that his kid isn't going to go through a lot of crap in his life just because of the name. Now, if he named himself that then I don't see a problem.

It's the same concept as having a misshaped nose. People are going to bully you over it, but you didn't choose to have it. Sure, it wasn't the nicest thing for his father to name him that, but a name is a name. You shouldn't be treated any different for it, although we all know it happens. The point is, we shouldn't deny him anything, just because he bares a similar name to a person that some consider to be "bad."

I wouldn't say it's exactly the same concept as having a misshapen nose, as for the kid, his parents didn't choose to give him a misshapen nose, it just sort of happened. The kid named Adolf Hitler though, his parents made that choice, and there's no way they couldn't be aware of the consequences

Those kids are gonna grow up to HATE their parents. You know you're kids are gonna be made fun of all their lives. When they apply for a college or a job or anything where they need their full name, corporations and universities wouldn't take the application seriously. At the very least, change his middle name. Adolf is fine by itself. Anyone who associates it with Hitler is immature. Adolf isn't that common either in America because parents are nervous over how politically accurate it is, so you can be sure that your child's name is pretty unique. But for god's sake, don't let this kid grow up to be named after Hitler.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

If Hitler's dream of a perfect race would have been successful, we wouldn't have the problems we have today. This doesn't mean that I support him, because I do not, but this family might. It is their beliefs and no one should have the authority to tell them that their beliefs are incorrect.

Realize, what you are saying is a good point, and parents should have the right to name there child whatever they want, but Adolf Hitler is just a little too extreme. That child is going to be traumatised through out it's whole life unless a name change is given. The child seems to be named as a joke going by the article. If they were Germans then that would just excuse them, but they aren't.

Hitler wasn't always a bad man, he was even named Time's man of the year before. He did alot of good things, and alot of bad, but people only realize the bad.

Time doesn't award the Man of the Year award based on how good they are. In fact, they claim that it's based only on how much news they created (which isn't true, Rudy Giuliani was Man of the Year in 2001 when it should've been Bin Laden).

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
You're trying to make it seem like this is ok. Ok, whatever, maybe he'll become this crazy strong kid that people will fear. There is an equal chance he'll be a normal kid, or he will be a kid who never ends up being popular or liked due to his name. It is not an unfortunate simularity more as it is a complete copying of the name. You can't try and say that the parents didn't want to copy the name, because they did. His full name is something like Adolf Hitler Campbell.

It's just a lot of [cabbage] that he has to go through all because his parents wanted to make a statement, or just get attention or god knows what. It doesn't matter what the reason is more than the fact that they gave him a horrible name that is bound to cause issues. People should look past the name, but most people won't. What the [bleep] kid wants to be friends with a child named "Adolf Hitler" anyways? One could only imagine going home and saying to his mom "Hey, can Adolf Hitler come in and play for a bit?"

I think you're missing my point. And honestly, I don't see how it's not ok. I'm not saying the act of naming his child Adolf Hitler was morally justified, though obviously I'm not the person that named him. My point was that we shouldn't use bias to deny him anything. The cake was a stupid incident in probably a long long life of them. That said, it's not anyone's fault but the other persons. We'll probably hear the same news again when he tries to work at McDonalds in a few years. It's only a name.

It's only a name.

Don't underestimate the power of language. It might be a name, but the connotations are undeniable and obvious. Those parents are completely irresponsible.

Time's sales would have tanked if they put Bin Laden on their cover as 'Man of the Year' in 2001. I don't think they'd have recovered yet if they had.

I don't think so. I actually think their sales would have doubled. They'd get alot of heat and such though..

Wait wasn't Hitler voted in too?

It's kind of complicated, the way that he was made to führer.

The Nazis had gained power in the German parliament because at the time, they did a lot of relative good to the German economy, and because people are easy to manipulate. A lot of jobs were created by the German army, for example. They had been gaining votes in the German parliament over the course of a few years, and the election before Hitler was looking better than ever before, but not good enough that the Nazis would get a majority. So the night before the election, Nazis set fire to the German parliament building and they sent messages to all the major German newspapers saying that the most competitive party, the communists, were to blame. The next day they got 44% of the votes, not enough for a majority but still a huge amount of influence. Then there's some stuff I can't remember about him becoming reichskanzler and later führer, but I do remember that it wasn't too democratic.

Can't wait to see what happens to these kids once they reach high school/college (good or bad stuff, doesn't matter). :-w

With parents like these, no wonder there's a whole herd of emo and suicidal kids out there...

But... But most of those emo kids are living perfectly normal lives and somehow have gained the thought that their lives suck.

Your life would suck if your parents named you Adolf Hitler or Wee-Wee Undershorts.

its just a name, people need to calm down

Leylen.png

So long story short, man names kid Adolf Hitler then says it's just a name, while also requesting swastikas. 1+1 usually equals 2 in my books.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

People should be tolerant, as names don't mean anything. On the other hand, it's cruel to give your child a name that will get him persecuted just to make a statement; if the father thought there was generally nothing wrong with it, he could have changed his name.

If absolute power corrupts absolutely, where does that leave God?

What?Adolph is a cool name!

Cybermullet.png

he could have just changed his name to that. if he wants to fight intolerance, that's his right. but it's not okay to use someone else to fight your battles... especially a baby

fishing.gif

Yes, it's just a name but do you realise how many years go by before you realise, it's JUST a name?

16 years of abuse in the classroom before anybody gets that it's JUST a name, could screw poor little Adolf up for the rest of his life.

Ironically, apparently the real Adolf's life was so full of bullying and teasing, people debate that's what made him "snap".

Hairy ball sack is just a name too, but for crying out loud, why the hell would you put your child through the trauma to prove your point?

Yes kids will make fun of most things, but I think I would rather make fun of mr hairy balls over Jack the kid with one eyebrow.

How completely selfish.

By the way, the cake maker might actually not have anything against the name, he just probably doesn't want his [wagon] sued!

These parents better hope this kid grows up to be obnoxiously big....because he is going to get his [wagon] kicked like clockwork if he doesn't.
