This Rant is about stupid people saying

"dragon is outdated and the plate would of been better off a year ago"

How can it be outdated when the stats of it clearly competes against Bandos for 2nd Best non degradable armor in the game? Dragon Owns Bandos in Stab, Slash, and crush. Bandos has a strength and prayer bonus but I still don't consider that enough to stand against how much more full dragon owns it defensively, unless your just another player who overrates strength. This makes dragon the second best non degradable armor with the release of the dragon plate, 3rd age being the first.

I Understand that this picture shows a dfh while Bandos has a slayer helmet however with a slayer helmet on full dragon, dragon still wins defensively.

I Guess Players just dont like good things and rather complain. :-#

Well the stats are a lot better than I expected but I would still rather save my money by using barrows.

There are two kinds of meleer people:

Ones who think strength bonus owns all

Ones who think defence is the key to sucess

#2 will win the vast majority of the time. So 450k is spent on torags, and they go on their merry way smacking the tar out of bandos and dragon, while paying 6k an hour for repair costs. Torag's plate = 3k per hour in repair costs of steady combat. D plate = 12.2m, and falling like crazy. You would have to spend 4,066 hours in combat to pay off the dragon plate, and even then the cost of extra food\pots you would have to use with dragon would probably cost more then the 3k per hour repair cost. There is NO reason to buy it besides looks\expense. And it looks like crap + bandos chestplate will soon cost more.

Since I bought a Sara GS for slayer lately and I have 99 def, I found myself with "too much def" (meaning I would heal more with GS spec than monsters would hurt me). So I sold my guthan set and bought bandos for added prayer and str bonus and found myself with adequate defence for most monsters and a slight bonus in xp rates. At the pace I'm going lately, I'd gladly trade 10-20 defence for 1-2 more str bonus and still have enough def in conjunction with the healing effect of my GS. I don't think I'm dumb for choosing bandos over dragon as, in my case, it would be "too much def".

BTW, I mostly slay for combat so this applies only to slayer with high def skill.

Well if you really want to boil it down to stats its like 20 mil for bandos vs 50 mil for full dragon and less than 3 mil for barrows. Really its illogical to get anything other than barrows when you boil it down but people place a high value on looks and availability.

There is NO reason to buy it besides looks\expense

Is really what im trying to say.

You are right about idiots assuming its underpowered just because its dragon though,
Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,
I like to think I walk this line every day.

If I needed defense I'd use barrows. If what I'm killing hits weak enough to not need barrows I'd rather get the extra strength to kill it faster.

the problem with wearing barrows is that it interfere with repairing and it's WAY too common. i stick with bandos because it's perfect for camping, and MHing if the boss uses ranged attacks.

16.7 hours between repairing lasts for all but the longest camping trips, but it is common. Then again, so are whips. Bandos is OK for camping if it has enough defence that your healing method can keep up; with a unicorn, it's great. Then again, I always use +10% strength\piety with proslyte\verac skirt when I camp or slay, so I guess neither of them are better.

Are you going to slay with a d full or camp with a slay helmet?

Barrows is better than both of those body/legs anyway.

Dragon looks like crud, costs far too much, and I prefer the prayer and strength bonuses of Bandos. Full Dragon would've been better before, the drops from the God Wars Dungeon have invalidated it in my eyes.

I use Barrows armor though; it's so cheap and effective.

The problem with this is that you have a fury and such on, it would make it better if you just had the dragon and bandos armour, it'd help in comparing the two in my opinion. The problem with Dragon is that it costs too damn much and gets wtfpwnt by Bandos in looks, they are roughly the same stat-wise in the picture.

try using neitzot helm with the bandos, it would make it more realistic.

I think it's mostly the full helm. If I want one piece of dragon armor, I'd get the full helm. The only other helm there is that's as good, and non-degradable is the Higgs-Boson-rare 3rd age helmet. The plate and legs aren't much better than Bandos defence wise. The strength and prayer outweigh the slight defence in most people's eyes, including my own defence noobish eyes.

Of course, full dragon looks extremely cool. I hear they're making the dragon plate look even better, as there are so many complaints about it. Yes, that's right, I do like its current look.

I would like to say, this is not a troll.

Dragon DOES suck. The stats may look better on paper, but the Strength, attack, and prayer (neitiznot) will far out-do the little defense. Also, why are you comparing it to Bandos? Try comparing it to Bandos/Barrows combo or Barrows. Dragon fails, there is no way around it.

You can't make two different stats worth equal amounts. For example, DFS

But this is all irrelevant due to Barrows. You do know the costs of barrows is made up by the food saved, right?

firstly full dragon on the ge (dfh+dragon plate+d legs) costs around 38m on the ge not 50m.

secondly the point was that dragon can compete with the bandos set for second best non degradable armour (the first being 3rd age (which also has the highest crush def bonus in the game (beating out all barrows armours (although it costs about 150m on the ge and around 500m street)))). everyone knows that torags + dfs + whip has a much higher def bonus, but the argument is about non degradable armour. also i'd like to add that the dfs has around +50 def in most def bonuses over the def bonus of the rune def, which easily out does the rune defenders +19 slash attack bonus.

The dragon platebody is also falling in price, even now it is at a similar price to the bandos chest and is therefore a possible alternative, seeing as it has higher melee def bonuses (except crush) than the bandos chestplate, whilst the bandos chestplate beats even torag's armour for range defence. the bandos chest also has a +4 str bonus and a +1 prayer bonus, whilst the dragon plate does not confer any bonuses to these stats. the +1 prayer bonus is pretty much irrelevant seeing as it does not actually do much to help the prayer consumption, but the +4 str bonus may increase your max hit by 1, debatable as to whther higher def is better or not.

however it is worth considering that the dragon plate gives 0 range atk bonus, and as such could be used for range tanking (although i highly doubt anyone with any sense would use the dragon plate).

all in all, i have a dragon plate and am happy with it, it may not make me hit higher, but it sure as hell makes my food last longer.

With all the healing methods (sgs, summons, guthans), +19 slash far outdoes DFSs +50 defence in virtually every situation. And dragon armor could be considered 'degrading' too, as it's falling far faster then even steady use of barrows would cost. You'd have to use it for thousands of hours, and you'd STILL spend more on food with dragon then the extra repair costs of barrows.

the tiny extra amount of food used compared to barrows, is little enough to be outdone by the 90k repair cost of just the barrows chests. im sorry to say, but with 99 def it doesn't matter. also conisder that not everyone needs to hit more often, or the fact that a dfs can be used pretty much everywhere whilst a rune defender cannot i.e. metal dragons.

true full dragondoes not have a DFS it has a dragon square sheild so redo your def and you will see that bandos will be alot closer to dragon's def and still have higher str and prayer.
