January 16, 200917 yr i have no problem with the new words. they dont bother me unless its just spamming the chat box with [wagon] i dont really use those words in runescape simply because im so used to the censor and i dont want to get reported by those wanna be mods that infest runescape nowadays. im glad though that slowly, but steadily Jagex is giving more freedoms to the players (thanks mod vince : ) Runescape is recovering into a better community imo. it was worse years ago with many miniclip noobs not to mention autoers and bots. We could be expecting in a little more freedoms such as more trade limit possibly.
January 16, 200917 yr What words are now uncensored? Obviously damn, [wagon], etc. but how far does it go? The censor not only "protected our eyes", it also protected us from getting the mute. Wish I knew everything that changed so I know what not to say. To me, *** was just as effective as [wagon] without getting a mute, wt* is just as useful as well, wtf and the extended edition. Same with ffs. Well, from now on if I see someone saying something unnecessary, or abusing their new found privileges, I will not hesitate to report abuse and add ignore. Some people aren't mature enough to handle language, and need jagex's doublespeak/doubletalk. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪
January 19, 200917 yr I actually think this update will have the opposite effect. Parents will see cursing and have their 9-year olds stop playing the game. Good move Jagex, I was hoping for something to make the game less "childish."
January 19, 200917 yr The uncensor thing is Ok, i got no problem with it. From now on, if a friend dies i can say 'oh damn, that sucks' 'instead of 'that socks...'. But seriously , do we really need 10 year olds going, 'i wanna suck ur [wagon]'. No we dont really. Jagex should think about setting some guidline for reporting people on use of these words.
January 19, 200917 yr I think it's been suggested to Jagex for as long as they exist, to make the censor optional. Just add a button in the options menu, whether you want to play with censor on or off. Parents can turn it on to 'protect' their kids (like they don't hear worse words at school anyways). Others can turn it off as they please. Both sides happy.

January 27, 200917 yr Words don't annoy people, idiots do. At least that's my opinion. Just report the people that talk offensively. With or without the censor, there are still ways to offend people, so it doesn't do any good anyways. Imo: don't censor, just ban the idiots. And the whole "[wagon]" thing will probably die out soon. January 27, 200917 yr I don't think there really should be a censor in the first place. That's the worst thing anyone can do...pretend something doesn't exist because they don't like it. Yes there will be immature idiots...o well at least people can express themselves. Sure you're gona get pissed, but hey remember one thing "IT'S JUST A DAM GAME", if you're insecure enough to be offended by something in it (by pixels lol), well then you have other problems. People will eventually get bored of it bc it won't be "forbidden fruit" and will wise up a little, sure there will be some blatant violations of the english language. But hey rather that than censorship, I mean bad enough rs is a controlled economy now. Of course the censor will never be truly gone mainly because jagex would lose business, but hey maybe they can have worlds for ppl mature enough.

January 30, 200917 yr We complain about tight censor and then we get our wishes and now we want to change it back. Runescape in a nut shell. Not really, a few 10 year olds complained about not being able to properly humiliate their opponent by swearing at them. The rest of us praised the censor, pointing to youtube comments as an example. I wish it was still around, but no sense crying over spilled milk. The previous censor was far to sensitive to be left implemented into the game. Normal words even started becoming censored in Jagex's crusade to rid Runescape of all possible words and combinations of them. If you're going to feel bothered or irritated by a bunch of kids spamming "[wagon]" and "damn", you should realize that there's a reason why Jagex decided to give you an ignore list and a report button. January 30, 200917 yr The hype of this has already died down. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone on a members server randomly using the uncensored words against strangers.
January 31, 200917 yr Both [wagon] and damn are perfectly OK words. It's just the way it's said. For example: "You my friend are a total and utter tree hugging mongoose." Now is that bad? Yes it is. Does it use any bad words however? No. To make matters worse, innocent words then become "bad" words. For example, [wagon], damn, gay, [rooster], etc. etc. Jagex are quite right in uncensoring these words, it isn't the words which are cause offense, it's the people using them. Censor the user and not the words! totally agree, and i loled at the "tree hugging mongoose" thing
February 6, 200917 yr i always love it when peoples logic is this if player is 13 years old then he is mature. you are mature if and only if you don't say *word* all the time. if you say *word* then you are not above 13 or well beyond 30. maturity is learned in a variety of ways and if you have to [grudgingly] watch another kid grow up by saying these words then well you'll have to deal with it. i'll admit, i was like these players (notice i said players and not kids) when i was growing up (as i still am) and i'd like to say that it's good i got it out of my system. it's just an inevitable part of life. you have the responsibility of saying all these words and you confuse that word with privilege or right. Wow, watching this thread is better than pro wrestling! =D>This thread is probably better than pro wrestling because the fights here are real (And the boobs).
February 6, 200917 yr The amount of "cursing" has definitely died down since its release. I only see the occasional "damn it" here and there. Sure there is going to be somebody saying "Go to hell you dumb [wagon]. Damn you mother ******", but that will happen no matter what. YouTube

February 13, 200917 yr The new uncensored thing does make runescape slightly unfriendly, but it shouldn't be a huge problem. However I do believe that some words like [wagon] should still be blocked. Not nice to call someone an [wagon] just to piss them off. The word "damn" can be unblocked, because a person might say that when upset or something, and it shouldn't be that offensive. Quickchat for people under 13 is a good idea though, as it blocks them from public talk.
February 13, 200917 yr I wonder if past people who got banned for saying damn or [wagon] will get unbanned. Pureprayer, you're awesome.
February 13, 200917 yr There is a very simple thing to do at the grand exchange and other populated areas. Turn your chat off. Yea its been said before, but it works. I used to get pissed off at just about everyone, until I realized I could just turn chat to friends or off and I haven't changed it back to 'on' in over a year.

February 20, 200917 yr I don't want this game to be censored at all. It was a great game before the 10yr olds and the censorship.
February 20, 200917 yr Yesterday someone said "You f***less [wagon], go to hell". It wasn't bleeped out either, I took a screen shot because I was so shocked - Jagex made it much easier to get around the censor with much harsher words. Coming back to the maturity thing - this was in f2p, but it was a GOP player (they had at least 50 runecrafting). This means that they had plenty of experience in RS, but they seriously lack judgment and tact, and maturity. I know the game is for those of us older than 13 - but what that means is that there should either be a complete censor, or none at all - and not any of this 1/2 way crap.
